Amazon has digital scales of $25 bucks. Much easier than scooping nine times.
CO2 scrubber creates that build up, I removed my scrubber for a month and the problem went away so I tried wet and dry co2 scrubbing and it was worse wet, at the end of the day it similar to kalkwasser in build ups
I just ordered it… it’s $120 right now
@@cesar68033 Posting that on Insta. Thanks man!
The base is compatible with all sizes of pump not just 2.0.. 😁
I've got 2 x DMP10's on my 120 litre setup. Until recently, both were totall silent - but 1 has recently started making a very pronounced whirring noise which changes with motor speed. Wet / dry side aligment does help to some extent, but now thinking there is some debris trapped somewhere inside, so will strip it and see what I can find.
@@vtrnutter Curious what you find inside! Please share. I’m on Insta under the same name, if it’s easier to hit me up there.
@kalamazoo_reefer I dismantled it earlier - you can get to the magnet and rear of the impeller by undoing the 4 clips holding it together. There was some gunk in there that I cleaned out but it has not stopped the noise. Further investigation needed.
@@vtrnutter Wow, interesting. Is the motor/magnets rubbing against the “body” somehow, do you think?
@@kalamazoo_reefer I really don't know - it's odd as was totally silent for first couple of months. The other DMP10 still is. I'll keep looking into it after Christmas, will have to live with it for now.
@@kalamazoo_reefer strangely, after dismantling, and general playing with the noisy one this afternoon. I switch it off entirely for a few hours. When switched back on it was noisy for half an hour or so, now is dead silent again. All very odd. Hope it stays that way!
What size tank are the 20s for?
@@michaelbrown567 Hard to say, it depends on each use case. I bet a couple of them could keep the flow moving well for softies/LPS in a 40 gallon breeder. Four of them could probably keep flow moving for the same types of corals in a 75 gallon.
Was sooo excited for this pump, got it yesterday after about 25 days. it is unbearable the weird high pitched whine noise coming from it.
The DMP-10, I take it. I’d take apart the wetside entirely and put it back together, and then follow the steps in the video. What glass thickness you working with?
Is there any help you can provide with programming these lights
@@BamBamm681 I’ve sent it off for spectrum testing. When it comes back, I’ll certainly be looking into the app programming, and making a video about it.
Ahh I forgot about the quanta brackets. I ordered some Chinese orphek bars and looking for options to mount along my radions. Any idea if they’d fit?
@@Semper.Reefing No idea! Never had the Chinese bars. It’s possible.
Where did you get those brackets to angle the lights?
@@Semper.Reefing I’ve got way better ones now. Those ones were DIY. I got my brackets from TurbulentFlowDesign. I think you can find their products on Etsy, if I’m remembering correctly.
The dmp40 is WAY stronger
Correct! It’s a beast.
You are performing a TREMENDOUS SERVICE to us budget reefers. Thanks so much!!!!!
Doing my best, friend. Comments like this keep me going. I truly appreciate it.
I just bought one and after a week using it the external motor is making a grinding sound. Its so loud we have to tuen it off so we can sleep.
@@golbs7542 Return it. Haven’t experienced that issue with any of my units. I own like 9 of them now lol.
Just a warning for anyone wanting to buy this. I burned out 3/4ths of my blue leds on my 4 lights. Probably due to no cooling paste on the diodes. If you get it, please add your own cooling paste
I wonder how it stacks up against the Dano plus
@@REEFNEWB likely quite similar!
@kalamazoo_reefer it would be nice to test the brs ones and those 2 together to see how they compare
Thanks for the video Any issues with micro bubbles ?
I'm on the fence between one of these or a 100/150 from nicrew.
@@josephfriedrich9792 I’d roll Nicrew personally. Better package, especially considering the warranty support.
@kalamazoo_reefer my thinking was the app/spectrum adjustment was supior on the a8se over the nicrew. But then I was thinking about, I really only run blues
@@kalamazoo_reeferdo you regret buying the a8? Or just think the Nicrew is better bang for the buck?
@ Nicrew is more bang for the buck. Also, you’ve got a warranty.
thanks !
Would u say the dmp20 is same size as mp10
Not exactly. I think it is slightly larger. But comparable.
What about the other way round?
@@sandreouwu I have no VorTech available to test that.
Hi! I’m wondering how to know where to dial in the water level for this nano protein skimmer? I just set mine on today and I’m trying to dial it in.
It’ll be different for everyone, but I want the top “bubble line” to be like a centimeter below the mouth of the cup, inside the skimmer. Hard to describe. Hope it makes sense.
@@kalamazoo_reeferyes thank you!!!
I go through 2-3 MP10 wet sides a year because the ceramic breaks. Would be great if you could try a DMP wet side with one. Perhaps it could be a better cost effective replacement
Unfortunately, I don’t have any VorTechs on hand. A friend sent the wetside. Also, Jebao doesn’t yet offer wetsides only. You’d have to buy a full unit. I’ve pressured them to get going with wetside replacements. We’ll see.
Mine stay put for the most part...they may move like less than an inch on the sandbed if they want but thats about it if at all ..
Noise difference possibility: could be from glass thickness; where and how the magnets sit in the fields.
@@kcleven Very true.
The Radion defuser fits perfect I use 3 of em
waiting patiently for the light over the tank test/look :)
@@islandreef5292 It’ll happen! For now, I’ve mailed it out for spectrum testing.
Could you do the opposite pls? 😊 Mp dry side with dmp wets. Thx greets from Germany
I would, but I don’t own a VorTech. This wetside was borrowed.
Could you show how you use the dimmer on this please?
It’s just the Kasa app. They likely have better tutorials than I could make.
@kalamazoo_reefer does your quanta light have a ballast?
MP10 wetside is straight garbage . The bigger vortech have better wetside
@@Malick_ibn_dinar Possible. Never had an MP40, but did run MP10’s. They did not impress me.
Could you do a mp40, that is s the most prominent one that is used. My mp40s all make noise and everything make noise. Unless your tank is in your bedroom, you should not care.
I address the MP40 situation in the video.
Would you return a unit that came with stripped screws on the dry side?
Odd manufacturing hiccup. No, I wouldn’t send it back, because I’m positive I wouldn’t open it up to try to repair it, I’d just buy another. But that’s just me personally.
@ unfortunately, I sent it back. Hopefully they’re able to sell them on amazon eventually
They won’t. EcoTech somehow re-upped their patent for another 10 years. 30 years of patent exclusivity for a product they refuse to innovate on. And you’ll get 10 more after that, probably. Strap in.
@@kalamazoo_reefer they can keep them. I had an MP20 back in the day had MP10's and MP40's. The MP10's now cost as much as the MP40's I bought new in 2020. On my new tank setup I have an DMP10 and a DMP 20 on the way. Fan boys can keep paying the Ecotech Tax
Right there with you, my friend. It’s a joke. Absolute robbery.
Can you do a video on how to program the light? I got one and could not figure out why the Auto schedule was not working.
@@stfuwtf12345 Yep, I’ll be exploring that!
Great video! Exactly the info I needed! 👍
Glad to hear it, friend!
The listing on its China site actually states that A8SE uses China LED/power supply and is based on G5, while the A8 pro uses Cree/Meanwell and based on G6.
Thanks very much for checking this out for us. Think I might just be ordering myself an extra Xmas present 😂
I look into every alternative option I can! This one is turning out interesting!
Good to know the lens works. Will you be doing a Par test with and without the lens? I have three of these lights on the way and will put them on a 220( I also have an old radion if needed). I ordered their version of the mounting bracket, so I'll find out if that works on the RMS Rail. The Black Friday deals were hard to pass up.
I think the winner from him is he has a tool to take apart the wetside for the DMP10-40. Dont need to fight to try and pop the tabs. I just ordered one of them for the 10 and 20
how much larger is the DMP20 over the DMP10? I was thinking of getting a 2nd DMP10 but was thinking of getting the DMP20 incase I get a little larger tank down the road but dont want something much larger than the DMP10
@@05xrunner It’s not much larger on the wetside. The dryside is maybe 30-40% larger.
@ thanks, I did a lot of looking and comparing the size of the MP10 and dmp20. looks like the dmp20 is a hair smaller than the mp10 from dimensions I found so I bought one of them as well.
I’m finding mine really noisy. Any tips? Everyone else says it’s practically silent.
@@so_so_reef Let it break in. Also maybe lower it as much as you can. Sound is perceived differently for different people. You may have rabbit ears, like my dad does on the golf course! 🙃
@ I do seem to always find equipment noisy when others say it’s quiet 😂 it works well, pulling out all sorts.
If you can you should run it on DC 12v , gives you way more runtime. Mine estimates 60 hours for my wavemaker on 12v. Doubt thats correct though but i will test it. On AC (same pump) it says 14 hours. I have the river 2 256wh.
Can’t do it without opening the wavemaker control box and messing with it, I don’t think. I’m all about plug-and-play.
@@kalamazoo_reefer Some pumps can run directly off 12v (Tunze does), it will be slower but it works if you dont need that much flow. Neros requite 24v though, so you would need a step up from 12v to 24v which is a little bit more of a hassle.
@@vetekli1234 Yep, you could definitely run a 12V wavemaker or pump on DC on either of these. The base River 2 would need an adapter. I think the River 2 Max has ports that allow for plug-and-play for DC.
I started using this light as soon as I got it, which was 7 days ago. it is just awesome, tho yesterday i saw hair algae forming on very top of the rock. just wondering if it has to do with spectrum or newfound high par going from kessil a360x to this.
@@devinerapier3776 I run all my color channels on my lighting at 100%. I don’t think there’s much to spectrum and causing algae growth. Could be the high par. I don’t run any coral under more than 300 par.
Keep them coming, good content here. 🤙🏻
Will do, my friend! Plenty to cover!
I have a 120 which I assume yours has 1/2 glass as well. I had a hard time getting both sides aligned as they don’t suck toward each other like the mp’s do. Have you found an easier way to align them?
Are you using a DMP-20? I had no issues. I just eyeballed it and stuck it in place, and it ran very quietly for me.
Just upgraded from 4ft to 6 ft tank. Have two xr30 gen 4 pros. And need 1 more light Was going to go with either this or the nicrew hyperreef as it is also a very similar xr30 clone. “X” mount works there too. Can’t decide on which to get haha
I’d roll on the HyperReef, personally. It’s a better package. You even have warranty access. It looks a ton like the Radion, too. I’ll be getting one of the Gen 2’s to explore early in the new year.
Liked and commented before you even started. So live up to it! 😂😅
Hahaha doing my best!
Really interesting Video! Really am starting to think about getting one of these lights. Would be interesting to know the PAR levels as Spread with both the standard and High Intensity light kit installed! Good job on this
You’ll get that next video in good time! Shipping the light out for spectrum testing this week!
Yeah never buying a mp40 again! You can buy almost 4x of these guys for the price of one MP40. Price increase on them is outrageous man!!!!
@@LordFarquaad007 Aperture prices frankly disgust me.
This version of it (DMP -30) can work on 12mm glass thinkness?
That’s what I’ve got them on. Working very well.
Can't find either this bracket on TurbulentFlowDesign website. Any link to share ? Thanks
I don’t see it either. He may be out of stock right now.
Thank for your video ! But I have one question because I’m dumb with voltage and all that stuff ! If I want to plug in my return pump ecotech vectra what I need to do ? Can I just plug it in or I need to buy something extra ? Thank you man 🙏🏼
@@SebastienLlamas All you’d have to do is just plug your standard power cord right into the AC outlet (the one that looks like a wall outlet) on the River 2. I had my Neptune COR return pump plugged into my River 2 Max this way. Worked great.
@ got it and one question maybe dumb question but why don’t run the Apex directly with this battery backup like that in case of shut down all the tank can run normally ! What do you think ?
@ I have way too much gear connected to my Apex power bars to do that. Ha.
