The greed of the American reefkeeping industry is, in my opinion, shameful and exclusionary. There are a lot of wealthy people in America, so whole industries can thrive by only catering to that asset class. I haven’t experienced this with any of my units, so I’m just taking a guess at my recommendation. I’d twist and remove the cage from the magnetic base on the wetside. Then I’d lower the wetside into the water and turn it all around in various directions underwater, to ensure no bubbles are trapped. Then I’d very very carefully line up the dryside and the wetside, and activate the wavemaker in “constant wave mode” at 50% flow intensity. Let it run. Great little video however I'm finding myself doubting it was at 100% or if it is, then it either isn't as powerful as an MP10 or it has a narrower flow cone. I say this because if you put an MP10 that close to the surface you will get the occasional pull down from the surface plus surface disruption in the direction of flow. This doesn't appear to do either. From the viewers perspective it looks switched off or at low flow. Even the corals don't respond as i would expect. The flow is hitting the rear glass so i would expect the coral on the right by the overflow to be getting flow from the rear. It shows no sign of flow at all. I not doubting your claim, just what im seeing in the tank doesn't correspond to what you are saying. I'm not a Vortech fanboy either. I watched this with great anticipation and hope because i changed my MP10 for an AI Nero 5 due to the noise. Maybe use your cameras mic as that wireless mic is not picking up any tank noise at all.
This isn’t a flow test. I just randomly threw it on the tank, high up on the glass. It is blowing over the rockscape and down the back glass. Also, I have 4 powerful pumps pushing current lengthwise through the tank, disrupting the flow of the DMP significantly. Since this is a direct copycat of the VorTech, I would expect it to have quite a narrow flow cone, because the VorTech’s flow cone is incredibly narrow. In the end, though, you shouldn’t make judgements about the flow based on this video. Nothing about the placement of the wavemaker nor the conditions of the tank has been properly set up to examine its water movement capabilities. Stay tuned for that video, later on this week. Also, FWIW, my tank is very quiet. That’s why you’re not hearing much. With sound cranked, you can hear me breathing as I extend the microphone outwards toward the DMP. The mic I used is far better than an iPhone standard issue mic.
@@kalamazoo_reefer You state at 1:02 that you are running the pump at 100%. I'm curious if you meant that or if you could correct what it was set to? I own neither and am curious about the sound at 100%
It’s a different pitch. I think that’s why. The VorTechs spin with a higher-pitch “whir.” The DMP seems to generate a deeper-pitch “whir,” which makes it so you need to be closer to hear it. Mileage may vary. It’s possible I got lucky with my unit, as there is always variance. VorTech to VorTech, even EcoTech customers experience variations in the product’s noise and such. But I’m still quite impressed.
just look at the Vortech battery backup price.. it is a total joke. You can clearly see that there is no such a thing like our price + our % margin , it is more like we charge our customers how much they are willing to pay.
Exactly correct. I’m just buying Jecod DMP wavemakers and hooking them up to my EcoFlow LiFePO4 power station. Boom done. All of it like 1/3 the cost of what I’d spend with EcoTech LOL
😁Vortech fan! 🫣 oh no! its quiet! you need to align the blade and the motor " put the blade first in the tank ! then align the motor pump outside " tip of the day!
In my experience the alignment process is the opposite. The motor side has a rubber pad that stops it moving. The wet side has a foam pad. If you hold the dry side in position and then hold the wet side close to the glass and let go. they will pull themselves together and the wet side will move itself into the correct place.

My mp40s have to be 8in deep or they will suck air at 100%, mp60s need like 12in although there isnt a need to run them that % in my tanks @@JB-zs4pv
What the heck! Sounds way quiter than my vortechs! I try not to put them over 50% to make sure they dont make so much noise.
@@kalamazoo_reefer very true.
just look at the Vortech battery backup price.. it is a total joke.
I have the DMP-40 and it is def quieter than MP 40
Really?!
If there's anything to knock is supporting companies that make clones.
Yeah, that’s fine. I respect your position. Not looking to turn my comments section into a Reef2Reef debate thread, though.
I'm more of the opinion that innovation thrives with competition, we all different and so are our tanks
I wouldn't say Vor tech clone .... I would say Vor tech killer...... Lol
I think it’s safe to assume that it is already doing an absolute number on VorTech sales.
😁Vortech fan! 🫣 oh no! its quiet! you need to align the blade and the motor " put the blade first in the tank ! then align the motor pump outside " tip of the day!
Alignment is important with any wavemaker like this!
In my experience the alignment process is the opposite. The motor side has a rubber pad that stops it moving. The wet side has a foam pad. If you hold the dry side in position and then hold the wet side close to the glass and let go. they will pull themselves together and the wet side will move itself into the correct place.
