If you’d like to know more about controlling these with Jebao’s app, the noise level of them, what all comes in the box, etc, please have a look at my most recent few videos! I’m deep diving on coverage for these wavemakers.
Your rabbit fish is so stoned once when your pour reef energy into your tank! It is so funny to see it's reaction once when it is poured into tank at around 9:47 mark. Thank you for the Jecod review!
Can you really?! I haven’t received an app update for it yet. I just checked. Maybe they’re slowly rolling it out. If they actually took the suggestion, that’s truly wild LOL
@@kalamazoo_reefer yep, I'm on 3.1.42, no idea when the app updated but with my dlw wavemaker I now have a cog letting me adjust flow in random mode. Totally useless for me because I downgraded from 20s to 10s because they blew sand everywhere in random. But good for the future
@@Mark-hb2zy This is wild! Are you using the app on iOS or Android? I’m on 3.1.26 still, and no update available yet, so I’m guessing it’s a staged rollout. Keeping my eyes peeled.
That is it! Moving forward, when i need a powerhead im using jecod/jebao, hygger or similar. Its ridiculous how they can afford to make and sell these at such a great price. If its anything like other jebeaos then it should last long term. Not sure why pay hundreds for one or thousands for multiple when you can keep it to under 1k for many of these. Thanks for sharing!
There’s just no justification for the prices of the “premium” brands anymore. Those companies are drunk with shameless greed. It’s like $900 for a single MP60 VorTech. It’s literal madness. I am done supporting it. Jebao, Hygger, Quanta, ReeFi, EcoFlow, all these other companies offer similar quality or better product for a way, way superior value. So I am going to focus on such entities and fully explore options for reefers that are actually of good value, going forward. I’m done man. Every dollar we send to entities that deliver good value, pushes the market toward a better future for the hobby.
hey there Kalamazoo! loved loved loved this video. you and i speak the same language/same important things such as narrow vs width of the flow iteself, etc. you spoke about 3D printed attachments you can add to make a flow pattern wider? can you perhaps show me an example of what one of those 3d printed objects looks like? like even a link to one if you would please? i sure would appreciate seeing what one of these attachments might look like? Thanks! -Lisa. ps- i have been all in on Jebao for 10 years with no issues!!
I’ve followed your builds since the kalk reactor and should have known you’d be first to give this series of reviews. Ordered 2. Now we need an a8 that Aqua supports.
I was all over it. Always seeking solid products that can undercut the super expensive “big boys” in the industry. I’m tired of them ransacking people’s wallets for every dime they’re worth. I do plan to acquire an A8 in the future and test it thoroughly. I’m going to get way more into budget alternatives on the channel, going forward.
@@kalamazoo_reefer also keep in mind that is also the reefers that have the apple sheep mentality that lick the boots of the brand and poop on affordable products just because they are... well.... affordable..
I’d throw a pair of DMP-20’s on it and call it a day. At the top end flow rate with a pair of those, SPS would probably be just fine, and if you’ve got LPS/softies, you’ll never run them near 100%. Probably half strength at most.
I’d always rather size up a smidge, than push smaller equipment really hard. Has to increase the lifespan of the product, I would think? lol I have no idea, I’m just winging it 🤣 But the logic feels right!
Flow is so dependent on your coral density and rock work, so hard to predict. But I have 40 breeder-ish dimensions (36x18x18) and use two DMP-10s as secondary flow on the opposite side of a 2k gyre, and I’m only using 40% on my two DMP-10s. As the only flow, I think two DMP-10s mostly cranked should be enough for most sparse tanks, but I’d imagine the DMP-20 would give you room to grow.
Love ‘em. I run 4 of them 😂 I will be transitioning to Jecod DMP’s, because it will make cleaning the wavemakers a lot easier on me. But I will miss the wide flow pattern of the Nero series, that is for sure.
If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? I think there's definitely potential that young ears will hear a high pitch whine whereas older people may not :) that could explain why I've heard some people complain about them being noisy (if it isn't just unit variance) I'm 40 and can hear up to about 18khz which is good for my age (norm is 15), yet my 17 year old son regularly hears high pitch sounds I can't hear
@@kalamazoo_reefer definitely older enough to not hear anything if it makes a very high pitch noise :) that's the problem with sound, it's so subjective
I forget what piece of gear it was, but there was maybe a Hydros gear item or something that somebody was telling me their grandkid could hear. Making that same high pitched whine. So odd.
It’s too noisy when put on pulse or sine wave. Not worth it. You can run it at constant speed for quiet operation but in my opinion who ever is buying this is because they want random strong flow.
Did you check to ensure the dry and wet sides are perfectly matched up? Can be quite noisy if they’re not properly aligned. Once you find the right orientation, the suctions will keep it there.
@@kalamazoo_reefer yea it is the DMP40 and I did check for alignment. I’ll double check tomorrow but I’m pretty sure if it wasn’t aligned it would be noisy in constant mode too. I’ve seen in other videos that the wet side has a ton of play and it’s what causes the noise
@@antonioraigoza8352 I will say, the DMP-40’s wetside felt cheaper in hand than the wetside of the smaller iteration I tested previously. Unsure why that would be exactly. But I’ll investigate further on the interval pulse modes.
Make sure the bushing is placed correctly. You might need to open it up to position it properly. Mine came in out of position and I noticed it immediately. Otherwise, it’s really quiet even at max intensity.

Exactly. I’ve often found affordable products to be every bit as effective and reliable as premium brand offerings.
