Thanks for uploading 🎵🎼🎶🤍
specially bad this start. Also the name is kind of scam . I wonder if this was a mocking of Webern (as i also did) . The “microform” style works well when you have richness in timbristic and formal experimentations with a charged load of musical information in a short time, this is what the best pieces of Webern show. This piece hear, in contrary, is very easy to imitate, what shows that this writing has not much art
sounds so un-french. He plays it just like Glazunov!
Messiaen nous apprend à voir les couleurs
Merci
Genial
It was played at Princess Diana's funeral.
The fugue subject has potential and Handel, of course, realised this, exploiting it with typical nonchalance and confidence. Nice performance here. Bravo!

I didn’t know he passed 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
In the first prelude, she is too fast…… it’s like a confused conversation. Then she slows down when she gets to the semiquavers….. inelegant.
The grand organ of notre dame always makes me smile, just the pure power of this organ is absolutely mad.
Such a tragic loss for Music, Jehan Alain. To think what he could have gone on to compose with a longer life!
You have no idea just how funny it is to see yet another perpetuation of the historical vendetta of the French against the English language, an extension of their belligerence towards their "most dear enemy". The comments are not at all my problem (look at the video description): most of the viewers are Anglophones, and France has an incredibly annoying problem of being Francocentric. You'll be preaching to the choir anyway and I assume you are learned enough to know the recurrent problem of being stuck in an echo-chamber for too long. If the video were instead filled with comments in say, Mongolian or Inuit, wouldn't you be impressed? Look at how far the talents from the land of Rimbaud, Verlaine, Mallarmé, Hugo, de Banville, and Baudelaire etc. have made it! Regardless if he is not appreciated within 'his native land', then you should be bursting with joy at his universality! And anyway, what’s the problem with it? You could say “it is amazing that the talents of France are appreciated all over the world” (or however variant you might phrase it in French) and still be patriotic (not that I'd espouse it though, but I'm giving you a friendly word). But I suppose that there’s no use, because France itself is a mess (and it always has been). See the same argument as such - Cochereau was a devout Catholic. Why are there no comments praising him in Latin? Would you say this is because 'the Catholic Church has no respect for Pierre Cochereau'? What horror! Isn't it ironic that France and her countrymen, despite being from what is arguably Western Europe's most secular country, and one that has historically denounced (and still prides itself in doing so) the Catholic Church and all forms of 'propaganda of faith' - are actually fierce adherents of a religion that... worships oneself? It's called "nationalism". You don't worship God - or Jesus - or Allah - because you're so busy worshipping yourself! If you, the French, are so concerned with glory, love, and honour, then how about you give that to the rest of the world first and give credit where credit is due? Get over your internal and percutant loathing for the English. It will further cement your reputation as a laughingstock instead of making you 'the land of sophisticated culture'. At least you are immortalised in the term “lingua franca” and always will be, as well as the English language itself, of which you contributed a swathe of the words.
Very sloppy performance. The echo in the hall is interfering with all the tones and you're playing this too fast for this room!!
Wonderful expression.
I would have fucking killed to be able to meet him if I was born then. Literally is the one who actually turned my life to God and truly accepted Jesus in my life. I may not be as famous as he was, or well known, but I write lots of similar music to his, of course, mine is more indirect than his, being that as He writes about God straight up, I write in hidden messages, but I certainly hope He is resting well in Heaven, where music has no limit.
Did anyone else get an OUTRAGEOUS amount of ads? Like, literally every 5 minutes?
Wow! What a wonderful piece! Had I more time to spend learning this, it would definitely go in my repertoire!
I wonder: This is Messiaen himself playing and he wrote "legato" to the pedal part. But this is never ever legato, he clearly sets the notes apart from each other very distinctively.
Nice
37:20 has to be the most beautiful music I have ever heard, throughout all of Messiaen this has to be the best. I believe that it signifies the mercy of Christ when the angel comes and announces the end of times. Truly the most wonderful music ever
Why the F sounds mf and the mf sounds F?
Thank you!

Do you know what Harris book this can be found in? Is it in 3 preludes for Organ?

HaHa. See the prog-rock band Renaissance's "Running Hard." "There is nothing new under the sun."
😮
Yep, innocently heard Renaissance steal this back in '74 and have to thank John Tout for turning me on to the wonderful world of Jehan Alain. Indeed, it IS all variations on a theme. (And who knows, maybe Alain himself stole it from some anonymous, long gone musical genius). It's what makes music so much fun.
I bought the score on a Wednesday, practised for an hour or two, played it at the end of the Sunday mass and had an appreciative round of applause at the end. It makes a dazzling impact 'organo pleno'.
This piece is 97 yo but it still sounded so MODERN. FANTASTIC
Do you have an edition in german?
I only came across this piece while reading Robert Sholl’s excellent new Messiaen biography. It was written for his then wife (fiançée?) Claire Delbos, herself a composer, along with the Theme and Variations, although only the latter was published at the time. It’s an unsophisticated piece, it must be said, the piano part rather over-written, and very hard to play, like most of Messiaen’s piano music, and the form clunky and academic. (although that was never OM’s forte!) nonetheless, thank you for downloading this and helping to fill in the gaps in Messiaen oeuvre😀
Well - Are you transported or ... distracted? Definitely substance over form!
This feels Christmasy to me for some odd reason
Bonjour ! Merci bien !
After the maestro Messiaen, many pieces for piano of other composers for me are influenced by the Maestro. This one, for example.
Love this.
