It is also perhaps noteworthy to remark that Olivier Messiaen himself, through his father Pierre (son of Marie-Flavie de Myttenaëre, of the nobility, and Charles Joseph Messiaen), was half-Belgian; the latter was born very close to the Belgian border in a hamlet in Wervicq-Sud, Vaucleuse.
