  • Composer: Victor Jacobus Emmanuel Durlet (11 October 1893 - 7 February 1977)
    Violinist: Eliot Lawson (born 1978)
Pianist: Kiyotaka Izumi (born 10 February 1977)
Belgian composer, virtuoso pianist, and pedagogue Emmanuel Durlet wrote this Canzonetta, scored for violin and piano in 1953, dedicating it to his friend the violinist V. Gochoul; an amateur player. It is a miniature, lyrical chamber piece in G major which is faintly humorous; yet idyllic in character-as with most of the music within his œuvre, the work bears Flemish influence which inspired the author for much of his life. The duet was not inscribed with an evocative title, which the composer often practised; instead bearing a name which is more associated with secular songs of the Italian Renaissance period.
Canzonetta was enacted as a required piece executed during the Emmanuel Durlet Violin Competition in 2021.
