San Diego State basketball beats California Baptist
California Baptist was able to keep it close vs. the Aztecs but SDSU was able to close out the win. Now they get a nice break before facing Cal on the 21st

As a Dodger fan, this video gave me the energy I needed to get through the second half of my work day. Thank you. Take my like.
Who wants to take in that nasty contract?
all the why why why's....why did SD sign Bogaerts to that ridiculous contract, that's what you should be asking yourselves.
Preller has brought in talent and put fans in seats. Got to give him that. However, he’s also made some decisions that has constricted the team from being able to make immediate improvements. It’s no disrespect as I’ve never seen a perfect GM. Never been a GM however, if one takes a risk, it’s evident that the risk should be made with a means to get out of it or move a contract if things go south. Signing a player to a huge contract with a no trade clause is a huge risk. In order for the padres to move forward, they have to rectify the Bogaerts contract. He’s not playing up to a quarter of a billion dollar contract. It doesn’t seem like he’s happy here. You can see it from Machado and Tatis. They’re fired up and happy to be here. Bogaerts doesn’t. When you sign a player to that kind of money, they should no kidding change the trajectory of your franchise and be hypothetically almost the face of the franchise. In order for the Padres to be able to move forward , they have to move the Bogaerts contract. Signing a player to that kind of money says that that player is more important than extending other players and signing players for other positions in need.
I like Xander, he’s just overpaid 🫣
"I'd rather be owners that are not in it for the money and spend on their team" unless it's the teams I hate spending money.. also proceeds to make fun of the Pirates owner when last time I remember have won championships before.
Padres are listening? Most likely they are beging for other teams trade for him. They will have to eat around 60~70% of his contract to get rid of him. They are stuck with him lol
Padres fire sale!! No way they keep up with the Dodgers now 😂😂
Your team is trash 😂😂
Ohtani chose the angels when he came over because of the DH position
Pads need to bite the bullet, swallow a large portion of Xander's contract, and trade him. Has to be done.
When a Pobres pitcher has a good season, it has to be because of Niebla. When the pitcher doesn’t do well or regresses, it’s the pitchers own fault. We get it. No need to explain anymore. Niebla is Pitching God. He’s the best in MLB. You, Pobres fans that only pay attention to your own team, go off the stats where a pitcher improved and give credit to Niebla. You guys are the bandwagon fans.
[edited for content] According to _Fansided,_ the author wrote, _"Wolfe specifically talked about Sasaki's relationship with the Japanese media, which has been adversarial over the past few years, especially after Sasaki reportedly left the Japanese players union and his performance declined a bit in 2024. The Dodgers are now inarguably the most popular MLB team in Japan, _*_but that might not be_*_ a plus for them if Sasaki is looking to get out from under the eyes of Japanese media a bit."_ _Fansided_ piggybacked off what _The New York Times/The Athletic_ reported below. _"Wolfe noted that Sasaki has had a hard time with the media in Japan over his desire to leave NPB for MLB at such a young age. In Japanese culture, it’s considered disrespectful, and, as a result, Sasaki has been subject to false _*_rumors_*_ and accusations._ _"'A lot of people jumped on board there, creating some false _*_rumors_*_ about him and his family,' Wolfe said. 'It was very detrimental to his mental state.'_ _"Because of that, Wolfe was asked if Sasaki would prefer smaller market teams versus big market ones._ _"'I think that there’s an argument to be made that a smaller, mid-market team _*_might be_*_ more beneficial for him as a soft landing coming from Japan, given what he’s been through and not having an enjoyable experience with the media. It _*_might be - I’m not saying it will be - I don’t know how he’s going to view it, but it might be_*_ beneficial for him to be in a smaller market. _*_I really don’t know how he looks at it yet because I haven’t had a chance to really sit down and discuss it with him in great detail.'"_* But I'd like to focus you all on what I highlighted in bold. _The Fansided_ jumped completely into the pool with hypotheticals, conjecture, and *_unsubstantiated reports._* Here's what _The Fansided also_ wrote about Sasaki's potential relocation to Los Angeles. _"The Dodgers, who have a longstanding relationship with Sasaki dating back to his high school playing days, immediately emerged as the favorites to land him. A completely _*_unsubstantiated rumor_*_ even said that Sasaki reached a handshake deal with LA last month, but the Dodgers being toward the top of his list would make sense - longstanding relationship, two Japanese superstars, World Series win."_ My question is, how are those two articles not engaging in the same behavior of promoting an "unsubstantiated rumor"? And I'm not refuting that Sasaki had issues with the Japanese media; I'm more referring to what his state of mind was and is now and what impact that *_may_* have on his decision-making today. _All_ of those things are *_"unsubstantiated,"_* or, in other words, *_"rumors."_* 😝 If this accounts for what "journalism" is in today's world, no wonder we're so confused as a nation.
I’d rather keep him. The guy is a stud when healthy.
Let’s bump Estrada to be a starter and shop for some cheap closers.
In the Rule 5 Draft, the Padres lost flamethrower, CJ Widger.
Breaking News: Xander Bogaerts waves his full no trade clause and has been traded to the Athletics as the Athletics take on the full remainder of his contract and the Padres get Mason Miller.
No one wants X. The Padres would have to eat the majority of that contract and give up a prospect. Tatis is the only player any team would take but he's got getting moved. The only other piece is to move Machado and eat some of the deal and or trade Darvish.
I always love how his conversation about Roki joining the padres because of Hideo Nomo, you mean rookie of the year Dodger legend Hideo Nomo???
This aged soooooo well😂
So many awful takes and just wrong info it’s crazy, Ohtani was never going to sign with an NL team simply because there was no DH in the NL at that time. Not even a Dodger fan but part of the dodgers success unfortunately is not only because of the money but they have developed pitching and position players like no other. Lastly the padres farm system is ranked as one of the worst in MLB at the moment AJ Prelller has killed the farm system yes he did some awesome work last season but that doesn’t fix all the terrible moves he’s done. Let’s not forget AJ Preller probably would’ve been fired if he didn’t get lucky last season let’s hope he strikes again this offseason.
Someone dumb enough to “pull A madre” and take boogers on their team payroll is just as likely as Dean Spanos moving the chargers back to that dump in Shamdiego
I wonder what we would do if Roki told us he’ll sign with us only if we get rid of AJ and have Peter’s widow run the team? Who would we choose?
Why does Ben always talk about "slaying the dragon" and "beating the Dodgers"? That's a terrible mindset. Shouldn't it be winning a World Series. Not once have I ever heard Doug McKain of Dodgers Nation talk about slaying the dragon down south or beating the Padres. The Dodgers always focus on the World Series. Sometimes they fail, sometimes they succeed but never once do they talk about beating the Padres as an accomplishment. That's probably why the Padres got smoked by the Phillies in 2022 after they beat the Dodgers. If you want to talk about Roki wanting to be a "competitor", then that should make the White Sox ecsatitic. The only person that knows what Roki wants is Roki. However, in my opinion, if the Padres are going to cut salary, Roki on the Padres is just like the Ohtani-Angels situation, bad contracts and a poor farm system. The reason why the media at Dodger stadium is enormous is because they win, not just because it's LA. The Angels share a city with the Dodgers but the media is much smaller because they suck. The reason why Ohtani went to the Angels was because the NL didn't have a DH. Be realistic, the Padres are not going to be competitive if ownership doesn't further invest in their team, no team will. Roki wouldn't be competing with those teams, he would be losing to those teams. From the sound of it, the Padres are cutting salary for 2026 as well. If they trade Cease because they can't afford to sign him that sounds to me like they are cutting salary going forward. In 6 years, when Roki is due for free agency the Padres are not going to be able to afford him so there is no long term plan for him. LA, NY, Philadelphia, ATL, and one central team will probably take 5 of the 6 playoffs spots, that leaves one left for everyone else. Good luck.
Xander is a great guy. But he's not working out.
Agree! Great guy, solid player, but the WORST contract on the team. 🫣
It's all hype our boys not going no where we trying to win GO padres baby ⚾️⚾️
sasaki not signing wiith padres.. they sound like mess with GM out there trying to shop around half the team and trying to cut payroll.. why would a stud like sasaki wanna get involved with that mess?
What about Matsui? For a first year in MLB, he did pretty well.
Wish list would be for Boston to take back Xander, they literally need a righty AB (hence Arenado rumors). Thats the only team that makes logical sense, especially considering his history. Maybe new Red Sox front office wants the nostalgia of ‘13 & 18’ back? Would take some Preller magic… maybe Cease is the guy you throw in? Also, trading Cease would thin out the pitching rotation, but if he goes to Baltimore they’re stocked up on good talent.
I can't see Baltimore taking on anchor contract. They are notoriously cheap and You're going to need to throw in more than 1 year of Cease and a prospect. I think Steve Cohen is your best bet, but that dude didn't his billions by throwing money away
@@AlanYeezyi don’t think I made myself clear. I meant that Cease goes to Baltimore. Not Xander. Xander goes to Boston. Baltimore could totally do another 1-year rental for an ace pitcher.
@@inalavalamp I see. Not a bad idea. Baltimore is loaded with young talent. You're probably not going to get for Cease what they gave up for Burns. Burns is better than Cease. However you definitely should get some solid potential back. Xander going back to Boston based on nostalgia is very unlikely. When you said "maybe Cease is a guy you throw in" it sounded like to Boston. I'm not trying to be combative but I think you're going to have to give the farm to Boston to take on 9 years of an anchor. From what I hear Boston is trying to compete right now so I don't know if prospects are really what they are after. That's why I thought Steve Cohen might be willing to take him on because he could careless about 9 years of 200 million. However he's not dumb either and he's going to want a lot in return.
@@AlanYeezyI think initially I meant “throw in Cease” with Xander as an incentive, before they got Garrett Crochet. Don’t know if they’d take Cease AND Xander now, considering the prospects Padres would want in return. But maybe Cease to Baltimore, for 2-3 top prospects, and Xander to Boston and throw in some money? I’m not GM but I know things can be worked out. Perhaps a prospect from Baltimore in a Cease trade, could then take the place of Salas, or be used to throw in with Xander.
@@inalavalamp I think you're a better GM than Preller. I'm a Dodger fan but I don't hate the Padres as a franchise but I think there front office is bad. I'm do tease them a little. The Dodgers need San Diego to be good. They don't win the World Series this year without the lessons learned from the Padres the pass few seasons. That's why I don't see an AL team winning for a WS for a while. Walk into the World Series but don't know what to do when sh... hits the fan. See Yankees 5th inning. lol. Hopefully the Padres get their ish together. When the Padres get there I'm sure they'll be able to take what happened this year and apply it to getting the monkey off their back.
Maybe a package deal with Cease and Bogaerts for someone who wants Cease?
@@glennsilverman522 Dylan isn't good enough to make another team want to deal with the contract with X. It would take Dylan, at least one of our two top prospects and throw in lots of cash to get that deal done. LOTS OF CASH
And that's only if the Padres don't ask for much in return. The whole plan behind it must be just to get rid of his contract and move on. Sometimes you just have to suck it up and pull the trigger.
Ohtani wanted to be with the Angels because the AL, not the NL, had the DH.
Prior to 2023 what pitchers did we draft and develop? What Japanese players did we recruit from Japan prior to trading for Yu and getting Yuki this year? What’s our rich history with developing pitchers and recruiting from Asia? I’m curious. I wonder if Dodgers will include in their pitch that they open in Japan next season to start their year? What a way to return and stick it to the Japanese media there. I’m sure they will cheer for him. He has an opportunity to change the narrative.
Bogaerts hadn’t been healthy either, So give him dome Slack Jack !!! ☝🏽
No one is taking that horrible contract😂😂😂 X is also under control when in the batter box. Under the pitcher's control😂😂
Cal baptist shouldn’t have even be close 😮
AJ treats the farm system and this franchise like his personal poker table at a casino. For 10 years it’s been all in. No long term plan or using the farm for depth and to get deep into the playoffs like other successful winning teams do.
Yet won more playoff series in the last 5 yrs, than in the previous 50 yrs,
@ Your definition of success is not AJ’s or Kutspenda‘a. They don’t say their job is to fall short every other year in the playoffs. AJ has been in his job 10 years not 5. He says his job is to win WS. He hasn’t met his own job description. Despite you wanting to redefine what he’s said.
@jdsthird no one has in the previous 45 yrs, that's not preller's fault, ps- compared to what we were in 2014, it's a drastic improvement, u think the fans r stupid, breaking attendance records in padre history,
@ No I think the fans are listening to Kutspenda and AJ who tell them we are winning WS. That’s why they come. Very easy to understand.
Ben you should travel to Asia to appreciate their culture. It’s very different than western culture. I’ve been to Japan and Philippines, and India. I’ve worked and lived there for extended periods of time. How they view their own countrymen is very different than how we think they should view them. Very hard to explain you just need to go and experience it. Wolf spoke about the Japanese media not the media based here in the USA for Japan. Very different. They treated Shohei very well during the Ippei scandal. Padres media wasn’t too kind though. I wonder what Roki thought of that since he grew up a fan of the Dodgers?
Dravish got a lot heat from the Japanese media when he was fighter.
lol yall made a HUGE mistake getting Xander for that many years and that much $$$ you played yall selfs so bad
none of US did anything
We got this under control you orangutan
@@justing42 these dodger fans are so bored
We got this you orangutan !
I remember a video when Xander signed where a certain Padre fan said "it's a good time to be a Padre fan." Aged like milk. I think the 29 other teams were in shock because everyone knew that was a toxic contract. Then the Machado and Cronenworth extension, the Darvish extension. Siedler was the gift that kept on giving... to other teams. If the Padres didn't sign those contracts they might have been able to re-sign Soto. Those contract add up to more than 50 million per year, it's a possibility. The only way to get rid of Xander is to attach Merrill, Tatis, Salas and DeVries. Probably not happening but it's not like the Padres are going to re-sign Merrill, not with this ownership group. It would give the Padres a good start to a reset. You still have to get rid of Machado though. Maybe Steven Cohen will bail you out. If Xander keeps it up he may get his jersey retired at Dodger stadium.
Its feast or famine with these dudes... We saw feast, now its time 4 them to experience Famine😈💙😈💙😈💙😈💙😈💙😈💙😈💙😈 Viva Los Dodgers
@@erkbzr Famine????? They haven't won a World Series in almost 60 years of existence. That's not a famine that's starvation.
Soto isn’t THAT good
@@erkbzr there was a time probably before your time when the Dodger organization used to grow their own. They've always had money but they always grew their own. Now it seems all their stars have been purchased. Even the prospects they have traded away haven't become anything for the other teams who received them. They've put out a lot of pitching but not much when it comes to position players. Good thing they have an endless amount of money otherwise they might be battling it out with the rest of us. I guess being a wealthy team because of your location and investors is a good thing when it comes to owning a baseball team. I wonder what would happen though if MLB was run like the NFL? Then the teams who actually did their homework the best would benefit the most instead of those who have the deepest pockets. There's no skill in that.
@@mike-vq8zw What players did the Padres "grow"? Merrill seems to be pretty good and came up through the Padres system, technically Tatis was traded for. Welcome to the new MLB. Will Smith, Kershaw, Beuhler, Seager, and Bellinger are not bad players, few MVPs in there. The reason why the Dodgers can trade for good players is because our farm system is always in the top 10. I guess for you it's bad when an owner invest in his team instead of pocketing the money. I think it's a great thing when management invest in their employees to put them in a position to succeed. If the Padres ownership can't afford to invest in their team, they should probably sell the team, just like any other business in America. So are you saying that San Diego is a bad location and you can't find investors? I think San Diego is great city, and if you can't find investors or invest yourself you have a bad business model. If you can't afford to be in business it's time to move on, it's capitalism. You can wonder all you want about the MLB being run like the NFL, but the reality is, it's not. Did the Padres do their homework when they spent around a billion dollars between 2022 and 2023 on Xander, Machado, Darvish, Musgrove, Cronenworth. Now those contracts look like anchors. Xander has 9 years left, Cronenworth has 6 years left, Darvish and Machado are going to be in their 40's when their contract is over, they didn't need to be extended them, especially for that much. That's why they can't afford Cease, Soto, or even Higoshioka. Everyone except the Padres knew Xanders contract was toxic, it sounds like the Padres didn't do their homework. The Dodgers have no players under contract into their 40's, not even Ohtani. I think we both can agree that the Rays are a small market team that do well by doing their homework, they have to, they have less money, so it can be done. Guess where Andrew Friedman came from? If you don't think the Dodgers do their homework, take a look their bullpen. You know that bullpen that shut the Padres down in game 4 and 5 of the NLDS, the one that won the World Series with a 3 man rotation. Their bullpen are all cast offs from other teams, Blake, Banda, Brasier, Phillips, etc. Justin Turner, Max Muncy and Chris Taylor(not good anymore but has been a meaningful player throughout his time with the Dodgers) were players that were castoffs. What players on the Padres are castoffs that are part of the Padres long term plans? Honest question. You can't infer that the Dodger don't develop their own players and then complain when they sign good players to favorable contracts. It's one or the other. If anything it's the Padres and Angels who don't do their homework, bad big league contracts with a bad farm system.
The Padres lost a visionary in Siedler and gained a book keeper in Kuusenda! They are in trouble!
getting a team to take xander would be a godsend
Why would anyone take that on.
The sad thing is even if Padres brought in a new GM tomorrow he would be strapped with the same problems AJ strapped himself with right now. No matter who the GM is, contracts are going to have to be eaten and top prospects will have to be attached with these bad decisions to get them out the door to start over. If I was off to this GM job it would only be under those conditions otherwise and new GM will simply be doing well just to tread water until he's fired for what AJ created.
In a couple of years Bogaerts contract might be the goin rate for an average player but he better start playing better than he has been because he's been below average. If a team is really interested in Cease and the Pads tell them they will take less in return if they take Bogaerts off our hands as well I think its a good move. Getting his deal off the books would free the team up to actually contend smartly for the next decade with Tatis and Merrill in their Primes. But as long as he is a Padre they have no chance of competing and its wasting two potential all time greats.
I see no way the Padres can get rid of X this soft season without attaching one of the Padres top two prospects along with some cash to him. Even at that they won't get much in return. It will be a team that has money, doesn't care about X, likes the extra cash, but really likes the prospect. There aren't many teams like that around. The longer the Padres go holding on to X the less likely they are of getting rid of him . Padres are going to have to make a decision soon. Just succumb to the fact they are going to be straddled with the contract of X for years to come or admit they made an incredible mistake and because of it are going to have to include one of the top prospects in baseball to free themselves up and service this team in more positions. No way can this team do both. Can't have all these huge contracts that are going to look worse and worse as the years go by including X right now AND keep the two top prospects they have AND pay the going rate to be competitive. They have put themselves in an extremely bad position.
Throw in De Vries and Kash Mayfield and get X gone
@redpillbrotherhood110 I think the Padres would rather keep De Vries. I'd take my chance on him making it over the catcher. It's just too bad they may have to make that choice just to dig themselves out of the hole they themselves dug . If they don't dump a couple of these contracts soon they will be a middle of the road team, never good enough to win it all but not bad enough to end up last. That's the worst.
@@redpillbrotherhood110 The worst is not knowing whether to go all in or dump it all and get out and start over. Every year they sit like this they will just be treading water. SHIT or get off the pot.
@@mike-vq8zw It's definitely time to pony up and make a decision. They should(but likely won't) do one of two options: 1)Operate in a loss for a year or two and go all in and break the luxury tax. This would be signing Corbin Burnes, trying to land Roki Sasaki, re-sign Kim and Solano and Tanner Scott then do one big trade, perhaps to get Casas and Wilyer Abreu or send De Vries, Salas and a pitcher to get Kyle Tucker and then extend him immediately as part of the consideration for the trade. They would arguably be the best team in baseball at this point. 2)They realize the budget issues without trying to rebuild and trade away Cease and either X or Cronenworth to get Casas, Abreu and Marcelo Mayer in return. Maybe add Kash Mayfield and another prospect to get it done. Then try to get Sasaki and fill out the rotation with 1-2 flyers towards the end of free agency. This wouldn't make the team great right now, but competitive while keeping budget same or a bit less. They get young, cheap MLB ready players under club control in Mayer, Casas and Abreu to add to the mix with Merrill, Salas, De Vries, maybe Sasaki, Tatis as a relatively good contract etc. They'd then have a young core for years to come to build around while being reasonably competitive now
@@redpillbrotherhood110 X is the sticking point. The only way you get rid of him is to add one or two big prospects, lots and lots of cash and then expect very little in return just so you can get on your way. The other bad contract is crony. Not so much the money but length of time. Seven long years and he's no young pup. To get rid of those two you can't expect much in return regardless of how much the Padres have to put in.
Xander sucks
They got into the playoffs with Bogaerts and the whole team choked in their final two games. He’s not the problem. The problem is Peter Seidler is gone and his estate wants to preserve its money. The only hope is to build the farm and not trade away top Padres prospects. Plus, fill gaps with second tier MLB players. Profar was a second tier player, also Higgy. Maybe that’s the Padres strength, player development.
The madres are pathetic! They give these ridiculous contracts, and now they can't afford them, so they're trying to trade them. And this is the franchise that thinks that Roki wants to sign with them? Lmao 😂😅
Dodger fans are pathetic
CRY HARDER! 😂
Ok num nuts mm moron 😂

id pay money to see arraez and Bogaerts traded
@@Twicelovetwicelife if you can come up with 200 million I think the deal can get done 😁
Xander getting traded is just as likely to happen as Ohtani not making the HoF. Which means it'll never happen
yea padres done fucked themselves with that bogaerts deal- dodgers fan
yea padres f'd themselves with that bogarts deal
@@kikos102 💯
What sucker out there would bite on Bogarts?
@@xXIronSwanXx I wonder what we would do if Roki told us he’ll sign with is only if we get rid of AJ and have Peter’s widow run the team? Who would we choose?
