In order to compete next year Preller has to one up himself from his masterclass last year. Not sure if we can find another King, Profar, Solano, Peralta, Higgy, Scott, Merill, and Adam. All of these guys played significant rolls in getting as far as we did and that was still not enough. Even if we do they will have to be that much better to slay the LA dragon.

Go sign Elias Diaz or grab Matt Thaiss. Then focus on Sasaki, then make a smart trade or two and a couple cheap flyer signings(Like Solano and Peralta from last year) and we're still in a very good spot. If they could make one major free agent signing as well, that would be great, but probably wont happen unless we somehow clear some salary in a trade or two.

People forgetting that we we're planning on shedding some payroll this year. I'd much rather have the money for King then wastefully spend it on Higashioka. It's not about taking the division anymore all the Padres need to do is make it to October and beat the Dodgers in a series and being up 2-1 should make you feel very confident. Yeah they went 24 scoreless and the Mets also struggled against that BP. L.A. went 34 scoreless which obviously is unsustainable and with how often they'll be playing each other. Starting catching must be a top priority for the Padres because there is no way in hell they can rely on what they have. So with that in mind I think it's fairly obvious the Padres cannot compete with anyone financially. ANYONE
I would say once again Padre fans should just sit back and take a nap because the Padres most likely are going to have another offseason of waiting until the last minute to scrape up the leftovers. They're not going to sign players according to need they're going to sign players according to cost and that doesn't bode well for the 2025 season. So don't anybody wonder why the Padres aren't making any moves right up until or maybe into spring training. You have to be able to admit we've been down this road a few times before, so to act surprised with no moves being made is a little dishonest OR just naive and how can you be naive to this team after all these years? The Padres cannot compete with anyone financially. THEY HAVE NO TELEVISION CONTRACT. Until they do this will be how this team must operate. Mostly do to the contract stay currently have. I have seen enough of the Padre backup catcher. He was given an opportunity to win the starting job any failed partly because of his hitting but mostly because he is lazy behind the plate. If you're fighting for a major league position and one of your biggest attractions is you are lazy what does that say about the player? Defensively, he is below average.

Well no one's sad you troll. Any Padres fan will tell you that losing Higgy sucks but committing long term to him was never an option. They have Salas as Campys backup. They'll be fine. Keep chirping..gonna be real funny watching you look stupid
