This is possibly the best visual design I've seen in any game ever! Really scratches that cyberpunk itch while being very pleasing to look at. Glad i'm not the only one who thinks this!

It's interesting to see gamers analyzing what product designers have been doing for the last decade. Marathon's style looks like a CMF board from Pinterest, but I don't think it's any deeper than that.

Honestly this kind of art has been around in the graphic, character and concept art design community for decades, it's present in some indie games or hidden gems. It was even trendy in early 2000s product designs. I understand it's new for some volks but I can't praise Marathon for being brave at choosing some risky original art direction. Altho i am excited about the story and the lore, hopefully it's art has has a role on the plot.

Hear me out: the fungi is Vex-like and able to act as conduit in different forms, going back to how Bungie likes to merge different alien races together. “Escape will make me God” is also a play on words because it’s an extraction shooter but also maybe the entire point of the story, which is that Durandal ala The Witness, is playing 4D chess and the runners are experiencing his game (Destinys’ The Flower Garden). Much like Infinity, maybe mechanically every session into a drop zone is a timeline or version of what could happen as if we’re in a simulation. The protagonist also experiences a sort of rampancy. Or it’s all real, but because we are consciousness inside of artificial bodies, our “runs” are being convoluted because the source of the consciousness is always back at the ship, and our experiences thereby obscured by Durandal.

okay that concept art definitely has me thinking it's a class system. same face with different accessories and colors has me thinking you'll have fixed faces that could be tweaked.
