Welcome to our journey.
We are here to share our experiences, educate, solve problems, and ultimately share this journey of ours with you guys. We will face challenges, find solutions, and do some amazing things.
We decided that there's so much more to life than working 9-5. That being said, we've made the decision to sell everything and live our life to the fullest. To us that means being self-sufficient, eating better, doing better, and being better for both ourselves and the world around us as a whole.
Throughout this journey we are becoming more conscious of what our role is in this world we live in, especially in these challenging and crazy times. A quick decision turned out to be a great opportunity to start this journey of ours with the purchase of a military USMC Humvee for our future ranch. This is a passion of our and this is where we start.
Stay tuned for updates on Humvees, working on the ranch, and living life to the fullest.

Humvee Transmission Problem - Symptoms and Troubleshooting (Part 1)
Although unsolved as of now, I did want to share this video with you guys in the hope that this video is helpful for you, and gives you some ideas to try if you're having the same issue with your Humvee.
As mentioned in the video, please comment below if you have any ideas as to what is going on and how to solve it. I will solve the problem and post a part 2 for this video when I do! :)
As always, thank you for watching!
Don't forget - this is my personal experience and the way I chose to do it, as is the case in all my other Humvee project videos as well. There are many different ways to go about it so please remember, I am not suggesting what to do or any particular way to do it, but I am just sharing my experience to help others! Please do NOT do anything that would risk yourself or your loved ones, or your equipment.

Great video , where can I order the mudflap kit from ? I having trouble finding them
@@jacobschloesser9845 thank you so much! I'm sure you would be able to find it on eBay. I found eBay as a good source to buy a lot of the Humvee stuff! You can also ask people on the Facebook Humvee groups. I got mine from damage control customs if I remember correctly but, I'm not sure if they still sell those. Hope it helps!

@@joansantiago-183 yeah they are so awesome and so funny 😂
Haven't seen yall in awhile. Sorry to hear you're having trouble with your hmmwv. Firstly the kick-down switch does down shift the transmission, it also tells the time delay module to disengage the fan when you mash the accelerator real quick and turn off the a/c if installed by manual to specs. I would check the tps first, there should be three wires. 1 is the 5volt reference, 2 is the signal wire, and the 3rd is the ground. Next i would check the circuit breaker to see if it is getting power, in and out. Sometimes there is a fusible link hidden in there. If all that checks out, check for power at the tcm. If you have power then see if you can pull codes. On my hmmwv i jump pins a and e, you watch the trans light and count the flashes. Most people do this with a paperclip. 12 will be the first and last code. Oh one more thing, make sure your trans connector isn't flooded with fluid. Hope this helps you some.
@@mattlawson7007 Thank you so much for all the info! I will start checking all those parts you mentioned! I need to do some research and find out where all of those are located first LOL 🤣 I will probably post another video soon about the process of finding the problem. I really want people to be able to use these videos so it would help them to solve similar problems if they encounter them! Again, thank you so much for your help 🙏
You're welcome. The tps is located on the side of the injector pump opposite of the throttle cable. The tcm is under the rear driver side seat. Just be careful with the tcm, most folks forget they are a 12volt system not 24volt like the rest of the hmmwv. If yours has it unscrew the cap and you'll find the pins labeled, right beside the one with the harness. By the way, you're doing good, all of us that have hmmwv's have had to figure out one thing or another.
@@mattlawson7007 I will start the troubleshooting! Again, thank you so much Matt!
if 80% battery you can use for nearly one month, that means you do not even use these function😃
brasil?
I had the same issue took me months to find the problem, I was on the verge of of rebuilding the transmission and installing a stand alone TCU. Turns out it was a bad speed sensor and a bad TPS. $200 for both. I saved $2k
Thank you so much for the reply :) Wow! That is crazy! I am so happy you solved it in just replacing those two. How did you figured it out
You should check if the Circuit Breaker tripped located behind the Passenger side seat. It would cause it to go into limp mode. Another culprit could be a bad TCM. Definitely should do the paperclip trick to see what codes pop up.
Thank you so much for the reply! I checked the circuit breaker behind the passenger seat and it looks like it did not trip. What is the paper clip trick? I am curious to learn :-)
Here it is, good luck.
gear-report.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Supplement_7_4L80E-Transmission_Troubleshooting.pdf
There is a military transmission troubleshooting guide, check Steel Soldiers or the web to find it, the brake switch seems to be a common issue.
I need to change that on my Humvee too. Great video man keep it up.
Thank you so much! It's a pretty easy change 😁
I installed similar led lights front and back and now flashers don’t work when they used to work prior to replacing. What else did you do to keep them working?
@@bamboorodmaker sorry for the delayed response! I actually had to replace the blinker module with a new one that is compatible with LED lights. The old module used to also blink rapidly unlike the new one that is blinking at a normal speed. Hope it makes sense! I will try to upload a video of the replacement of that module soon! Good luck!
Thanks! Really appreciate your valuable video
@@talltaleswithtacobell Thank you so much! I am so happy you found it useful 😄
Who doesnt have power tools...
Transmission sensor, should be behind the trandmission. You need to get under the center, look for the 2 port connector with 2 white wires coming out of it, and test for resistance (ohms) with a multimeter, if you arent reading near 520 ohms then you need to replace it and then it should shift out of 1st
Sorry I just saw your comment. Awesome! Thank you so much!! I still could not fix that problem. I will check your suggestion and give an update! Thanks again!
@@theinspiredjourney lol no problem, it pays to work on those bastards for a living 😂
Finally got some time to check that two port connector with my multimeter and I am getting between 735 to 760... So what is next? Thank you so much for the help!
Even many tactical boots are ripped or separated sole including Danner tactical boots so I think if you find high durability boots then this is good option. Definitely tactical boots are more comfortable and flexible but if your boots suddenly tear or something while you are working, it will be a problem and you will have to replace them frequently. However, if you buy these boots, you will be able to use them for a longer time.
Nice can’t wait see it come together
It means a lot to us that you are a part of our journey! We also can't wait to see it all come together, after numerous delays, disappointments, unreliable contractors, weather, and 3 years in an RV... been one heck of a journey :)

Man I want one of these soooo bad hahah, but I would have to give up my Camry, so it’s a tough choice…. Love that little car
Yes the Humvee is a thrill, especially in off-roading! haha, tough choice I bet (but nothing compares to the Humvee!) :)
great video but would keep an eye on that them battery cables are not chaffing on any metal
Yes thank you so much :) it was definitely one of my concerns but so far looks like it's doing good. Love this winch!
Yup there good at doing that
Very good!
Congratulations, great video. The music is a little annoying though.
Thank you so much! Sorry about the music!

did you show how you set up the daylight running light switch?
I have not connected it yet, but will be in future videos :)
Great tire carrier where can I get one ? Need help finding one new !
That is a tough one! They are not easy to get. I would try facebook marketplace in Humvee groups or ebay to start. I think they would be your best bet. Every once in a while a new one comes up. It took us a while to find ours but it was well worth it! Hope it helps :)
Maybe just a coincidence, but I accidentally hung up my DGD within 15 feet of the Humvee for a couple of days and came back to a drained battery. I don’t know if the key fob was communicating with the DGD and drained the battery, or just strange timing.
***key fob within 15’ feet of the Humvee.
Sounds like a tough one. Did you leave your ignition switch on the "on" position - if yes, perhaps this is the explanation to the drained battery. If not, I'm not sure. We have not had this issue happen. Take a look at our Humvee solar panel battery maintainer installation - may help in the future to make sure your battery won't get drained :) hope it helps
Hello great video! Will this upgrade work with my battery being my power source to ghost control gate opener?
Yes it will, we are using a 12v car battery to power our gate which works great and gets charged by the solar panel. Hope it helps! :)
Great video! I set up my app today for ghost controls gate and it works great, question - how do I get my wife access? Do I share a key or use her phone and find new device? Appreciate any help
Hi! You'll want to share a key with your wife through the ghost control app - you can also enable her key as an admin so she can control the settings as well, if you would like. The next step would be to connect the gate to the internet through wifi if you would like, which would give you control to the gate from anywhere, online. :) Hope it helps!
Pretty sure you don’t need to put it in neutral to go into HL. Neutral is only required for low
Thank you :)
Hey, I’ve been enjoying your channel a lot; it’s been super helpful on my Humvee journey. Quick question: did your Humvee come with the serpentine belt already installed, or did you have to install it yourself? I’ve been scouring the internet for a how-to guide, but no luck so far. Any pointers?
Hey, welcome to the channel! So happy you enjoy the content and find it helpful. Our Humvee did come with the belt already installed, but shouldn't be too hard to get a belt on your Humvee. I would suggest even to try going to your local auto parts store and they may even be able to find a belt that would match the Humvee and then you can put it on and make sure it has the right tension on it. There are multiple sizes and it also depends if your Humvee has an AC or not because the compressor requires a little longer belt. But overall it's not too complicated to install it, just got to make sure the tension is right - start your Humvee and see that everything works right. Enjoy your Humvee, it's an awesome vehicle! :)
Hey there new subscriber here. Did you ever get humvee insured? If you do, which insurance company? I’m having very hard time getting my M1114 insured.
Hey, welcome to our channel! :) Yes, we did - the best one we found was Hagerty insurance. They are very familiar with insuring military vehicles and it was super easy for us to insure it with this company - hope that helps!
That's not airlift. That'd mechanical lift

Thank you so much brother :) it did take a long time but totally worth it. I appreciate you & happy you enjoyed the video!
I purchased the Epix Pro 47mm and the Tactix 7 AMOLED 51mm because I couldn’t decide between the two. I think I’m liking the Tactix better but the wrist tilt is slower to display than the Epix. Noticeably. Anyone else have this issue?
Wish I could help with this one - for me the Tactix worked well - would love to know what you end up sticking with!
What State are you in that a Humvee requires reverse lights?
If I'm not mistaken, all road vehicles do need reverse lights. It is actually a requirement for car manufactures in all of the U.S. But honestly who wouldn't want reverse lights, so people can be aware of a vehicle when backing up? But this is in reference to vehicles that would be on the roads. I'm sure if your Humvee is strictly for driving around your personal property and never on the roads, that would be another story.
You do a great job wth your videos very helpful
Thank you so much! I really appreciate the kind words and the support. :)
Hey - great video! You mentioned the zombie lock, but I didn’t see that covered. Can you use the zombie lock on a dual gate setup or single setup only?
Thank you so much! Yeah we haven't installed the zombie lock yet but when we do we will create a video about it :) so basically you could install the zombie lock on either single or dual gate setup, just got to make it work since the tube gates are a little more difficult to install the zombie lock on and a little less straightforward.
Pulled up a part number on line for a half shaft I needed, their price was the best. I called to confirm fitment and was told it wouldn't fit, emailed pics with measurements and description. No response, I called and "oh that email," he then said it did fit. I was driving so ordered it over the phone. Took a couple days to get him to charge my card and then get them to ship the part. Finally got it...wrong part. Sometimes the best price isn't worth the hassle. If you order from them just be careful and don't do it over the phone like I did. From my senses, I feel they like selling to companies in larger quantities instead of individuals. If you read on their ebay store you'll notice being specific regarding your mechanic ordering the right part. They probably hate dealing with people like me wanting to confirm a part fits. But because they listed the right part number on line and but was told it wouldn't fit I had a right to ask further. I can tell he was a bit let down the online price hadn't been updated since he told me he'll still honor the price. I noticed the price went up afterwards. Glad alot of people had good experience with them. I wish mine was better. I didn't want to go through the headache of waiting for more replies for exchanges etcso I just ordered from a different vender.
You need to break modulation with that hummer so when the Hummer spins out press on the brakes partially and give it gas it will make the tires that are not spinning spin
Great tip, thanks - thanks for watching! :)
Transmission needs to be in HL wich means high lock. Or LL low lock. The modulation doesn't really work if your only in H.
In which country do you live? Somewhere in EU? What are the main things regarding lights etc that are necessary to get the HMMWV street legal and registered for EU road use? /HMMWV owner from Sweden 🇸🇪
We are from the USA :) upgrading the lights may not necessarily be needed for making it street legal, but installing the new LED lights makes the vehicle more visible and adds to your safety on the road, and looks cool as well ;) Not sure about the legality of things in the EU so I would check what is required in your area.
