My name is Joe, and I like to explore complex technology, and get really deep with it - sometimes pushing it in directions it wasn’t really designed to go. On my channel, you’re likely to find videos about whatever I was geeking out on at the moment. That’s very likely to be some kind of electronic musical instrument, because I like those quite a lot. Although anything goes.
You’re invited to come along on the day’s journey with me. I hope you’ll find some useful bits here, and maybe some new ideas that inspire you.

Hi great video by the way. Can you please let know where do you have your Akai mini USB connect it too. I have the Foce, but for some reason I can’t record into it a USB Thank you.
I want to learn how to make drones and pads on it.
Which analyzer are you using please?
Joe. These Videos are very nice! You take just the right time explaining things. Please keep it up!
Just seeing some of your videos, great intermediate to advanced skills you are sharing. Perfect for where I am at with the Force right now. Thank you.
Thank you very much!!!
How to precise set the panorama for each note in the step seq?
so.... is input width modifying the input signal before further processing? i'm not sure if i understand this knob
Woah! Beautiful man! Thank you
Hey Joe these videos are gold!!! Hope you come back to do more, you’re a great teacher and your disposition is awesome✌️
MUY BIEN AVERY GOOD...ANIMO GENTES CON ALEGRIAS...ENTERAROS BIEN DE LAS COSAS MUSICALES DE COMO VAN Y SON HOY EN DIA QUE OS LO ESTOY EXPLICANDO...
Can it offline autosample or des it need to play all stuff fully ?
How do you map multisamples ?
Lol, i'm watching this for the 4th time, and realized i hadn't clicked the like button yet. My bad!

Very professional and informational but the dramatic cinematic music just destroys the ability to focus and listen. If you removed the music, this would be best.
This is great, thanks!
Halfway through, I hit the Like button because this was indeed very helpful. Thank you!
Very great tutorial on kinda hidden gems on Force, thanks Joe ! 🤟
It ain't lexicon but it gets the job done 😊
Very informative, thank you for the video!
Joe, are you okay? You are just dissapeared.
They say Hype was all hype and no bite But then Joe shows how to turn Hype into an incredible sound designer synth. Suddenly, the hype is all too real.
Hype always is great for what it does imo. It's easy to mix "organic" with synths which is a common sound design techniques to help provide "depth" to our productions. Ofc it cannot do everything but if we want a classic dance piano, lead, etc it can do it and nothing stops us from layering it on various tracks to get an even beefier/custom sound. It reminds me of how the M1 can truly help a song shine even tho on it's own it's really dull.
Can this be used with midi channel's? As keyboard splits?
Nice! How many splits is possible? More then two?
You can input midi notes with keys from controller in step sequencer? I m piano player
Pardon my adhd. How many key groups can you have in a program/track?
Thank you very much 🙂
hey Joe I'm wondering if that toggle mute works better in your eyes than the mute buttons below on the track selectors which I think kind of slur in and out and aren't very effective at muting or clean muting if you know what I mean.
Joe you make great content for the Force. Thank you. Do you have one on output levels and controlling loudness on the master?
That was great as always Joe. Thanks 🎧
Amazing, these kind of tips really encourage to try new things. Thank you!
Practical problems of (auto)sampling synthesizers: 1) works great for relatively simple waveforms, but if there's more sophisticated synthesis involved (many layers of the sound, moving phase, effects like rotary, wave sequencing), problems crop up; 2) the beauty of many synths lies in the tweaking of parameters during performance (via knobs, aftertouch, control strips, modulation wheel, vector synthesis etc.). 3) Looped synthesiser samples never sound as good as the continuous synthesiser-generated sound, especially when several LFOs are involved. Sampling creates a "static" image of the sound and although you can add your own modulation and effects to the keygroup, it will never recreate the original sound-forming options. Just one example: try autosampling a drawbar organ and you will immediately notice the limitations. First of all, you cannot control individual drawbars once you sampled it; then the rotary speed changes within each keygroup range, which is not acceptable (the solution would be to sample each key individually); finally, the desirable effect of gradual rotary speed increase/decrease/brake, so often used by organists, is gone. And yes, I rely a lot on sampled instruments, but I can also see the limitations.
Thanks for a great tutorial
Oh wow. Mute in pad parameter would be super useful. Thanks for sharing this, Joe!
Love your videos
Good job man really useful trick to spice loops
Many thanks for your explanations! 👌🏼
I love it, thank you Joe for sharing it! ❤️🙏
Hi.....Because I often watch your videos and you are very familiar with the AKAI FORCE, how can we Force users also use the new MPC STEMS? Thanks so much
1. Wait for a firmware update. 2. ? 3. Profit! I don't know of any way to use it with Force right now. But I'm hoping it will make its way there before too long.
thanks joe......
Looks like a great plugin! Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be compatible with M1 chips as per their recent ad.
The video was made on a Mac with an M2 chip. It works fine for me.
I just noticed on one if your past vids I think it was the send effects vid.. great tutorial btw! But I noticed you had a Deepmind. Has the Force & DM combo been good to ya. I just found a deal on the DM 12d snatching up a KS37 also since it was desktop mod but was only just now able to start playing around with it. Can you create some content on the Force and DM work flow? I'm curious to how you route everything when using them together and I'm sure I'll have a few more questions soon. Thanks for the content
They work nicely together. Using Force with DM12 is not really any different than using Force with any hardware synth. MIDI out from Force into the DM, and audio out from DM into the Force. I might consider making some content around the DM12 and Force just because they're both fun! Thanks for the idea.
@@joefilbrun Perfect thanks for routing tip ... I'm looking forward to playing around with the two. I'll keep and eye out for your new vids!!
I am trying this again can you please lend me some inference.... keystep 37, akai force and DM12d. I know how to connect any two but how can I connect both keyboard and the DM12D to Akai Force?? I have the two midi adaptors, and every other cable but its my lack of understanding how these things chain... If I run keystep to Force using two midi cables and adaptors ... what I I connect to the DM12d the keystep or the Force? If I connect to force what cables should I be using ... I bet I am gonna need more midi adapts??? Aint I ??
Awesome ! Great video !
Bedankt
THIS IS SO COOL!!! I am so dang happy I found your videos, friend! Thank you very much for the education/inspiration
Thanks for the details. This synth is great and the ensemble fx surprisingly effective. Now it really misses details in the manual. Much appreciated seeing you filling some gaps!
Does this also work on the MPC One+ ?
you are the real deal. wow.
