RECOVERY | Adventure for Mental Health | 7 Days - 7 Lessons on an UNPLANNED Solo Adventure
Adventures are amazing things. The journey has very little to do with where you go, but everything do with what it does to you. A VERY spontaneous trip taking me through historical quarries, into freezing lakes and up stormy mountains. Although these places were incredible, the lessons this week taught me were why I really went out there.
7 days, 7 lessons on an adventure of recuperation, rediscovery and recovery.
There is a growing awareness about Mental Health, and this video explores ways in which Adventuring can teach us so much about ourselves and how to navigate the difficulties in ilife.
My longest vid yet, I set the goal of fitting 7 days into under 1 hour and I just about scraped it.
I hope you enjoy this adventure, if you found anything useful or have learned your own lessons out in the wilder places, whack it in the comments, I love hearing from you!

Escaping the stresses of reality to something more real. The "real" world isn't taxes, driving or working a 9-5. A life being lived on other peoples terms. For me the real world is enjoyment, it's exploring, it's peace. Off to Snowdonia in search of a glimmer. I've always been one to wear my heart on my sleeve and this adventure was no different. Join me on a forest wild camp! Roman baths, woodland wandering and hammock sleeping await. Needing time to rest my mind and soul. Shinrin-Yoku is the Japanese practice of Forest Bathing. My usual "go-to" nature time is spent in the mountains, but needed to rest the body and the forests are so full of life I thought I'd mix it up a bit.

Scrambling up mountains. For some reason I find it far easier tackling a steeper, rockier route than finding a long march up a footpath to the summit. Climbing mountains is not just about making it to the summit, it’s how you get there. Take Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) for example. You can choose to traverse the knife edge of Crib Goch, take a hike up the miners track, or even take the train from Lanbe...

    You should be really proud of this video and the amount of work you’ve put in to it. Not only the editing but the messages too. I could definitely learn a lot from this one. Particularly the chapters on resilience and discomfort. I watched this at the right point in my life and I hope I continue to carry these lessons as I move in to my next chapter. Well done again. Looking forward to seeing what comes next. Ps let’s go to the Brecons soon

    This was a deeply reflective journey for me to watch. Aside from being breath-taking scenery, it has made me think of the comfort I've built in my life and what I hope to get out of it. As I've turned 40, I've found it harder to connect with people but easier to connect with the things I love. Maybe that's normal, maybe the contentedness you feel from your own journey is more rewarding than what you try to get with other people. Then again still the rarity of connection with other people at this age maybe makes it that much more valuable for its rarity. Whatever your return to the real world brings you, thanks for sharing the meditations. I'll try to find the uncomfortable thing that brings me the same opportunity to reflect.

    • @mr_adventures
      @mr_adventures 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for sharing. Connecting with others is important but means so much more if you can find that connection with yourself. It means a lot to know this video got you thinking! Hope you have fun finding your “comfortably uncomfortable”

    Another great video. It reminds me that I need to go on an adventure (how that happens I have no idea). As a person who has been dealing with severe mental health issues for the last few years I know how important it is to take time out and take care of yourself. Thanks again for making such an epic video. Take care my friend.

    • @mr_adventures
      @mr_adventures 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cheers mate! For me, an adventure is any new experience where the journey far outweighs the destination. Adventures can be found everywhere, and when the outcome/destination stops being the focus, the journey suddenly becomes a beautiful story. Look after yourself buddy and have fun whilst you’re doing it 💪

    Great banter boys😎. But you have to go back for Redemption?😂. 1. So all three of you can complete it 2. The challenges is to climb up and down the three highest mountains in 24 hours! 3. I will watch the video❤😂. I'm doing it with a mate this weekend I've just been watching some Videos to familiarise myself with the mountains. Oh and great effort 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

    • @mr_adventures
      @mr_adventures 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Completely agree, rude of them to leave me quarter of the way up Scafell really haha! I can understand why people love timed challenges like this one, but I prefer adventuring slowly (1. so I can stop and look around and 2. stops me chucking me guts up). How did you get on with your 3 peaks??

  • @neilrobson9485
    @neilrobson9485 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Did you finish the challenge at the top of Snowdon? Do you not have to get back to the bottom to complete the challenge then?

    • @mr_adventures
      @mr_adventures 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah we finished at the top. I’ve seen lots of different variations on this challenge, some start the clock at the top of Nevis, others include the first climb and the run down Snowdon 🤷‍♂️. The real question is, what counts as the bottom of the mountain? The best thing about adventure challenges is you can make it your own.

      Thank you mate! Seriously appreciate the recognition for the editing side of things, I love the production almost as much as I love the adventure itself (and it usually takes longer than being on the hill!). I put the vids together for the subscribers I have, not the ones I don’t 🙌 I’ll leave you with one of my favourite jokes of all time… I wasn’t sure on the beard at first, but, over time, it grew on me.

    Watching this video reminds me of John Muir's words: 'The mountains are calling, and I must go.' Just like mountain climbing, life is filled with its peaks and valleys. Each step you take in the wilderness not only brings you closer to nature’s heart, but also mirrors the personal challenges and peaks we face every day. Keep climbing, keep exploring, and remember, every mountain (or hill!) teaches us a bit more about ourselves. Your strength and resilience in sharing your story are truly inspiring.

    • @mr_adventures
      @mr_adventures 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      John Muir doesn’t have a bad quote. I’ve always said Mountains give me perspective, their scale and age humble me and my problems to a point they seem to drift away. Thanks for the comment, I’m so happy you enjoyed the vid and got something from it.

    Hi Dear, I hope you are doing well. I am a TH-cam video SEO expert. I was analyzing your TH-cam channel. I am really impressed by your videos, but your TH-cam channel has some issues. You have made many videos, but your TH-cam channel is not getting as many views and subscribers as expected. Because you have no complete SEO for any videos, no channel tags, and no video tags, if you SEO your videos, your subscribers and views will increase, and your channel will grow. Your video quality is very good, but the channel is not increasing due to not doing video SEO. By doing video SEO, the channel grows faster. I can help you if you want.
