Superb stuff Tim …as always. I never fail to learn from your videos and yes….I am the bloke who not only approaches the bank without checking for close lying fish but I wade out into it! That method looks like it takes alot of patience but your technique with slowly retrieving buzzers worked so I’m going to give it a go…especially during the summer months when the fish cruise around right under our noses ignoring everything thrown at them. Thanks again Tim 👍🎣
What a great video can’t beat the fish rising to take a dry fly and enjoyed every minute of it thank you for sharing Tim tight lines and catch you on the next video big like from me 👌🇮🇪🤝
Thanks a million . There is nothing like watching that fish roll on your fly .. then strike to early and miss it ! lol .. Best kind of fishing there is !
Hi Tim. Great to see you out and about. How is your season doing so far. Your vlogs I think are one of the best. No crap or bull. I listen and learn tons from yourself including your fly tying 2.plus put alot of it into my own skill set.im improving loads. 😀
Thanks . Great to hear the vids help .. Seasons been great so far .. right up my street . Cool wet weather has kept water temps down . Most lakes have been fishing well to nymphs and dries since Feb ! A common theme has been clear water everywhere so I have had to scale my approach a bit , light fluro small flies .. its been a real interesting year . Comps have been decent too , top 5 in the majors so far ... How about your self , hows your season kicked off ?
Good.last trip i had 8 to the net. 6 rainbow 1 blue all 4lb.1 rainbow of 5lbs. Some on small nymphs a few on comorants and a few on buzzers with rubber tails. All size 12 and 14. Nothing was interested on size 10 patterns. Mostly on floating line and 3 foot midge tip. Not bad so far having a day tomorrow.. I think I will try something diff. Have a few new patterns to try and a new line. 0.5 ips Intermediate .let's see how that goes.
Hi Tim, I think I saw you that day and I use exactly the same approach because there are so many fish close in. Like you many of my clients want to cast distance so I put a fly less than 2 feet from the bank and caught almost immediately just to prove a point. and then did the same several times. I did go down to a size 18 shuttlecock. Great video as always, just wish I was younger to be more tech savvy. Tight Lines, Iain Fraser.
Brilliant video as always tim m8 tell me a better way to fish than drys i dont think there is any lol i love watching them eat it the rubber band is brilliant i got showed that up here in scotland from a comp angler aswel m8 makes a massive diff to drying fly enjoyed that video m8 well done at rutland bud gr8 angling 👌🎣
An Intermediate is a full sinking line . Its just the way we refer to a slower sink rate line usually up to 2 inches per second then anything faster we call a sinker .. confusing I know ! Thanks for watching .
I only use a tapered leader when I am throwing big flies like poppers , predator flies or saltwater stuff with big weighted eyes . For small water and reservoir fishing theres no real benefit to fishing tapered leaders as the energy from your fly line should give you good enough turn over . I dont used shop bought leaders preferring to make them myself . Its very quick and far less expensive .
Hi Tim what are you using inbetween fish to dry your cdc ? I was using Frogs Fanny or its equivalent on Wednesday . Sorry just watched the end of the video I can be impatient.
@@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769 I know mate, I degrease my leader up to the fly but use a floatent on part of the leader from the tip of the fly line , to prevent it pulling the fly under
@@trevorluft1763 It certainly helps when using long leaders when it comes to lift off . I haven't felt the need for it on short 10ft leaders yet .. different on river of course
It depends on the lake to be fair . I do favour the floater simply because it gives such great control over your flies . I like to pull lures on a clear fast inter .. that can be deadly on small waters
Both the Flow and the MF are just rebrands .. the blanks are identical to the QFlow and T2 .. The flows is a stiffer faster action rod as you can clearly see from the vid . Value for money it just cant be beaten . The MF is a more mid action rod and a perfect all rounder for small waters especially if you use light tippets .
Hi mate . This one is a Snowbee Waldron . Its at the higher end and a great vice . If you are just starting out looking for something in the £100 range until you know exactly what vice will suit you . You are looking for a vice with decnt jaw strength .
Awesome Tim! Thank you another excellent video. 👍👍👍😊🎣
Cheers for watching buddy

Those extra 5 mins watching the water at the start of the session can change your whole day ! Thanks for watching again ..
You weren't fishing Llyn Brenig on last Thursday we're you 😂
What a pleasent suprise to see a new video, thanks Tim.
Hope you enjoy it ... I got very wet doing this one ! lol
Welcome back Tim....we all missed you brother!
Thanks buddy .. Been a while .. super bust so cant complain but its been nice to get another vid in the bag .

Great to be back . Thanks for watching as always mate .
Great Video Tim, I am very guilty of ignoring the fish close to me!!
Excellent Tim 🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣

You make great points Tim especially about approach! Just because you can cast to the moon does not mean you should.
Thanks mate . We both know only to well how effective short line fishing can be ! .. We should get a day out again soon mate .

Thanks Iain . Yes I was filming this on that day . Was great to see that young lad getting a couple of fish !
nice video, thanks, An all well and good method with manicured and clear banks.
Agreed , easer when the banks are less well maintained , extra marginal growth will give you great cover from the fish and you can get even closer !

Thanks buddy . Its easily the best way to get them ! Cheers for Rutland .. had two top boat partners and for once got the tactics right !!
Hi Tim is there a big difference between the truefly of and the fa rated 8
No they are exactly the same blank . Great rods at a proper price . Have ben chucking everything from a floater to a DI5 on it .. no problem
Tim can I ask you what determines useing an intermediate or a full sinking fly line thanks in advance
An Intermediate is a full sinking line . Its just the way we refer to a slower sink rate line usually up to 2 inches per second then anything faster we call a sinker .. confusing I know ! Thanks for watching .
Tim, great video as usual, what is your view on shop bought tapered leaders ? do you use them ?

Thanks for the reply Tim.
Nice one Tim....
Glad you enjoyed it
What landing handle and net do you use tim I'm struggling to get a quality one which is long enough and light enough .
That's is the Wychwood boatman handle .. Had that one for years !!
Thanks for that I'm gonna treat myself
Hi Tim what are you using inbetween fish to dry your cdc ? I was using Frogs Fanny or its equivalent on Wednesday . Sorry just watched the end of the video I can be impatient.
As you see in the vid I use that little trick with the elastic band and then a rub on the jumper .. simple
Cheers Tim as I said I can be impatient with watching vids .
Hi Tim dose the new truefly fa have a full wells handle
Yes it does .
Hi tim would the 10ft wt7 handle the 8 rated hover and 8 rated ghost lines
@@williamgrant6647 yes . It would send them out with ease .
Hello Tim what fly tying vise do you use as I’m getting into fly tying
I have a snowbee Waldron . A little pricey but superb set of jaws and good rotation . You will probably pick a good second hand one up on ebay .
What floating line were you using ie rocket floater
Wychwood rocket floater .
Can you use the my rod on big lakes with dry flies
Hi Tim, do you grease your leader up with using fluorocarbon?
No mate .. I degrease it .. I want it to sink .. the leader floating is a major reason for fish refusing the flies
@@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769 I know mate, I degrease my leader up to the fly but use a floatent on part of the leader from the tip of the fly line , to prevent it pulling the fly under

How much of your tippet do you generally sink ?
@@davevincent5453 First couple of feet from the fly is sufficient . Its fluro so once it breaks the surface the rest pulls down pretty quick .
Great advice Tim as usual do you ever fish intermediates on small stillwaters or do you just use a floater .
It depends on the lake to be fair . I do favour the floater simply because it gives such great control over your flies . I like to pull lures on a clear fast inter .. that can be deadly on small waters
Can you also share your thoughts about the Rods you used please?

How do you keep your CDC fly buoyant please ...???
I just dry it with the elastic band as in the vid and then a rub on the shirt or jumper
Perhaps theres a market for a 3 ft #7...
I get more fish in the margins. Infact it's better fir a bung n eggstacy orange worm .well in my friend
Very partial to a nasty under the bung myself !!
I mind fishing fishing it many moons ago when it was a specimen water 🐟🎣
They had two lakes , Bean Mere and Slough house . both stocked with big fish and Salmon . Those lakes are long since shut and now carp fisheries' .
Forgot to say 10ft fa rod
9:40 9:44
Sorry the m f rod
Absolutely . Its lovely and soft and perfect as a dedicated dry fly rod on any lake .
