#sowingback #chickenndumplings #zojirushibreadmachine I think it is about time for some comfy and cozy meals as our days are getting shorter and the temps are getting cooler. Please explain why you can’t use fresh elderberries to make the tincture please.
I followed my herbalists books recipes and recommendations (I have a few different ones) they all say the tincture needs to be dried berries. You can use fresh to make syrup because you are cooking it from my understanding. The flowers are the only part that can be eaten fresh due to the toxin substance in elderberries, the leaves, and roots. I hope this helps. I think I linked their books and or websites in the description of the video. If not let me know, and I will get you the info. Thanks for watching.
@@sowingback Thank you. I am seeing if you were to use fresh berries for tinctures the alcohol will cancel out the cyanogenic glycosides. I’m hoping so. I used fresh berries. Enjoyed your video. New subscriber.
@@Judten1 Be careful and do some more research before you use the tincture just in case. Maybe lookup Rosemary Gladstar's books or website. She is pretty well known and a good resource. Here is her website. Keep me posted with any new findings. scienceandartofherbalism.com/?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwx4O4BhAnEiwA42SbVMHF8sMZOt1roAwoPhNeVS9bNWG6nStLMVdVdp2BY-7qmtrkHgzDpxoC7sEQAvD_BwE
Happy Anniversary!!!!
You got some cool cast iron pieces!
happy anniversary,,, wish your married be happy forever
I have the jar and im using it to hold my tall kitchen utensils
It's now my all purpose flour jar. Super easy to get a cup in and out of it.
We visited the lodge factory in South Pittsburg Tn. during the cornbread festival last spring. Love it !!
I haven't heard of the cornbread festival but I would love to go in the future.
Happy anniversary 🎉 😊
Thank you!! Miss seeing you!
Just what I was looking for. I’m tired of wasting collards and feeding them to my neighbors chickens. This year they will be canned for future use. I love to use smoker turkey necks or smoked turkey wings. My brother in law can’t do pork. Makes great collards. I also have a Nesco canner and feel confident in using it.
It's a great canner! Happy canning!
That lemon juice is my favorite! I have seen those individual chicken bite things on a few videos and my Costco doesn't have them and I want to try them! My daughter would love those for her lunches.
My youngest plays basketball and 24 grams of protein is a great snack. He really likes them.
Thank you for this! I was gifted a mill from my Mother in Law and have many Gluten-free ppl in my family. I have no idea where to start but been wanting to try with the cooler season. Definitely will be keeping my eye out to learn more from your videos!
I love that you're honoring a family recipe! We need to keep those alive!
Looks so delicious and cozy! I am putting it on my list to try this season!
How did you guys do in the hurricane? The dumplings look good. I like pillowy dumplings as well.
We got a lot of wind and rain for several days. We needed the rain so I'm thankful.
Thank you
I bought little rubber mats on Amazon and keep them where I open jars!! At 68 I’ve noticed a lot of frustrating changes, like my knees not feeling as sturdy and my eyesight getting weaker!! 😂 Getting older is rough! Oh well, beats the alternative!! Loved the video and subscribed after looking at your content!
Welcome! Those rubber gripping mats are helpful.
Now that our 4 children are grown, with families of their own, I've been trying to make double, what I planned to make for dinner, and I freeze the second meal, often before it's fully cooked, to have to pull out for a week where I'm not feeling well enough to fix dinner. I canned chicken soup base, with rotisserie chicken onion, carrots, chicken broth, and just a little salt and pepper, so I could use it as a base for chicken n noodles, or chicken pot pie, in a hurry! Last week, my husband brought me home the "Vid", from a car show he attended, and having that soup base to put into a crock pot, with more chicken broth and a lot of salt, for my very sore throat, and extra pepper to help with inflammation. I threw in some wide Amish egg noodles and we both thought it was the best medicine to help with symptoms, that felt just like strep throat, but with an added very bad headache and high fever. My point is, while the mess is out to make a meal, it takes no extra effort to make extra to freeze or can. It's a blessing to have it to use ourself, or to give to my daughter's family, or a friend who may be ill.
So true! I hope you are feeling better now.
New subscriber here. Thoroughly enjoy your sweet delivery and not trying to push subscribers. Yes getting older is physically harder .
Thank you for your kind words.
You don’t wash your meat before cooking it?
I've never heard of that, so no I haven't washed my meats before. I have patted them dry to season them, but not wash them.
I've never heard of washing meat before cooking it. I have washed out the inside of whole chickens and turkeys, but they tell you to do that on the packaging, after you remove the surprise pkgs they leave inside, especially turkeys!
We slowly added yogurt, cooked carrots parsley spinach, some fish eventually & intermittently to the low fatchicken (pancreas issues, yup.)! And phew he healed !🎉❤
Aww lil doggie... what a lucky boy to have his mama cook for him make him better ~oh geez~ we've had to cook for our Sir Dogsalot; similar reasons 😅 You narrate the situation well/entertainingly !❤️🩹😂
Wow. This looks really good & with super yummy adaptations !! Yum ☺️
Well, I agree with you when you get older it’s more difficult to open up lids ! New to your channel. Love your videos. Thank you so much. God bless you and family 🙏🏻✝️❤️
This is smart!! And You have such a fun genuine way about ya~ Thanks!
Thank you for the kind words.
Is your water distiller from Berkey?
Yes, as I also have the extra fluoride filters you can add. However, I've used bottled distilled water as well. Thanks for watching.
I make them in the end of tomatoes Season peppers tomatoes apples vinegar pure water and salt and waterbath caning
They are so good with soups and stews. Thanks for watching.
Love your grateful attitude. That's how I feel in my garden. It's messy but it's a blessing. So sorry about Dottie. We lost one recently too.
We miss her for sure.
You want the best recipe 2 cups warm not hot water 1/4 honey 4 cups fresh milled wheat flour 2 tsp salt A little less than 1 Tbls yeast Set on wheat setting or do what you did but bake 60 minutes It is easy no oil bread that tastes great.
Gonna have to try this. Which crust setting do you use? I tried a sourdough one and it needs the darkest setting. Also, do you have a favorite wheat? Thanks for the recipe.
@@sowingback I just use whole wheat setting. But if you do a homemade setting just make sure bake is 60 min.
Sorry for your loss.
This is something I want to try next year!!!!
I've got spaghetti sauce in the canner right now too!
Yum!
Def gonna try it out
Mongolian barbecue style…memories of my old USMC days… @ E club..👍

Smart way to use those pits and peels!
Peach syrup for ice cream sounds good. And for peach sweet tea too.
Ice Cream...yummy idea!

Hello! Just starting down this same road. Beware of using delay when using eggs and milk! Great video!
Thanks for the tip!
Hello! I love my Zo and I prefer sourdough (with FMF). Do you have a method for making sourdough in your Zo? I’m always trying out different ideas! Thanks😊
I need to give sourdough a try in my Zojirushi. I'll work on a recipe or two and see how it turns out. Stay tuned and thanks for the suggestion.

I just got this same bread machine for $80 at Goodwill, ridiculously expensive from a thrift store. I love the homemade function and I’ll play around setting the frictions later.
@gracechen7615, you will love this machine. I also love the dough function. It saves me time making buns, pizza dough, and rolls. Yes, $80 is a lot but it's a well made machine that still sells for $260+ new. Happy baking!
@@sowingback I love it! I made Japanese Milk bread in it last night, it was amazing. I used the home made function, skipped the third rise, it was perfect!
"This is real living, y'all!" Loved that!
I’m overcome with the harvest, too! Loved the tip about the roaster. I have one, I should do that when I make salsa this week.
It's a helpful tool for sure. Happy preserving!
Great tip about using the foil roasting pan!
It's a game changer.
