The new light rail is a big plus for commuters. And that is about where the pluses of living in Lynnwood end. I grew up in Bothell, which oddly is where they built the new Lynnwood high school, after the district sold the land the old high school was on to Costco. Lynnwood schools are way below the level of nearby Bothell, Edmonds and Mill Creek schools. My sister lives in a well established neighborhood at 23rd Ave and 204th Street and her across the street neighbors were robbed, targeted because they were foreigners who kept a lot of gold and jewelry at their residence. A teenage girl was shot and killed at the food court of the Alderwood Mall, caught in the crossfire of a gang dispute. Drugs have been a problem in Lynnwood for years and prostitution on the Highway 99 corridor remains an issue too (massage parlors). I really don't have have much of anything positive to say about Lynnwood.

You can only live here if you are rich. Which means the poor (actually interesting people) can't live here. Diversity? Do you mean Indians and white people? That is not diversity. Other Asians and Hispanics and Blacks are not living here, unless they are homeless.

The sun sets at 4:30 in November and 9:30 pm in July. In the winter, it can be so overcast and dark it looks like night at 10:00 am in the morning. There is a constant drizzle in the fall and winter. You get used to it and just ignore it for outdoor activities. May/June temps can still dip into the fifties during the day. Best weather is July-August, and part of September.

No way in hell I would live in California or Seattle. I did live in the Seattle area over 30 years ago before things got crazy but never again. Been in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho ever since and we’ve had a mass migration to this state since 2020 and most of the people coming here from California and the Seattle/Portland area. Luckily, most of the people moving here are conservatives that are escaping the ridiculousness of those areas.

I strongly recommend against moving there. You have no idea what you are in for, it is completely unaffordable, the cost of living there is astronomical! Rents are sky high, especially the suburbs. Kent is very dangerous. The weather most of the year is atrocious and depressing. Instead, check out Spokane or Boise, those are great places to raise a family. Dont do it, you will be saving yourself alot of grief. A vacation is one thing, moving there is another. Born and raised there, grew up in Bellevue.

#1 reason for not buying a house in Everett is the stink!!! Rarely does the air smell fresh!!! Even when the Air quality apps says its good, there is still a pungent acid smell as I go outside and sometimes there is a horrible sewage smell when the wind is just right yet nobody wants to say what it is! I used to pride myself on how healthy I was before I moved by the waterfront now I am sick with respiratory problems everyday the stink keeps me awake. I am lucky to get a few hours sleep every other day and I am a truck driver! So I become part of the problem!!! Although there are several companies that are bad for the Everett air quality I will list only 2 the first one is the Cedar Grove Compost Everett who had to pay millions for odor control and class action suits but that is nothing compared to BNSF Railroad who paid hundreds of million dollars in fined hauling 125 cars of Coal every week and leaving the coal cars at least a day or two at the marina to really raise The Nitrogen Dioxide levels generally the air is in the Green safe range but has raised as high as the purple (unhealthy to ALL) during its stay I guess Its all okay Because Warren Buffett is a card carrying green air Democrat!!! The other day I rode my bike over a overpass directly over a trains idling for hours an its exhaust really smelled like a sewer! I almost lost my lunch and they used to let them things run all night! Even though both companies have been sued both are still doing Business as usual hope this helps somebody not to mention the wildfire pollution or the poor shielded wiring in the old houses producing toxic amounts of EMFs

As a sanctuary city, Seattle welcomes ALL people of life. The homelessness, crime, and lack of police presence is enough of a reason to move away. The business are dying due to high land rents and taxes going up each year. Seattle is truly one of the worst places you could ever raise a child. Gays and pedophiles live everywhere.

I’m a native. Bellevue is barf, bridge and tunnel, new money no culture. Delicate transplants please move there, it’s perfectly clean and void of a soul, shop to your hearts content and don’t worry about having to walk anywhere or be near yucky people. And if you’re feeling adventurous you might try taking public transportation. Seattle and all of its surrounding neighborhoods are fantastic. Locals are rare, but if you meet one you’ll get them confused by a east coast New Yorker, we are blunt, have a dark and dry sence of humor peppered with a cynical love of our city and skeptical of the outsiders who constantly confuse themselves as a native just because they have lived herefor 25 yrs. If you want to move to Seattle because it’s “cool”:, sorry you missed that about 25 yrs ago. Gone are our grungy logger bars, and the unique and practical businesss owned by real people, replaced by cheaply made dotted with square stucco boars randomly placed with soon to be outdated color schemes. In 20 yrs seattle will look like a rundown outdated dilapidated city that fell apart trying to stuff “affordable “ housing into every inch we used as a backyard accommodate our addiction to outrageous rent hikes every 6 months. I once ran over bill and melinda gates as I ran out my house to the bus, he must of been slumming it in Seattle. You’ll be shocked at the amount of homeless and drug addicted, considering the number of super rich billionaires that live here, unless they were swept away to another part of the state so you don’t have to be uncomfortable by their presence. 5% of those billionaires bank accounts would detox, rehab, train and house our homeless. Not sure where our pot tax money is? More than likely used to keep Bellevue clean and manicured.. financially you are either rich, or poor., and we miraculously all blend in together, our rich look like common folk here and find the working class quaint and helpful. Seattle is not a city that works for the people that live here, it tries to be cosmopolitan, yet good luck finding a meal after 7.pm as the city goes to bed between 6-9. If you want a city that doesn’t put on Aires and pretends to be something it’s not, go to Portland Oregon, way cooler, way more integrity as a city, better food trucks, restaurants, it’s proud to be weird, just watch an episode of Portlandia. Plus the coast is heaven. Who’s this guy?

Compared to Seattle and Bellevue in the south, Everett sits closer to the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the entrance of Puget Sound, has more access to the cool wind from the Pacific, and is therefore not so hot in the summer. The Olympics mountains blocks wind from the ocean for Seattle.

I was born in Seattle and have lived here the majority of my life and I’m 61, I tried living East of Seattle for my first house and the weather over. There is too cold and rainy in the winter. The closer you can get to Puget Sound the better the weather is, I now live in Mukilteo, which has by far the most mild weather of anywhere in the Puget Sound and housing is just as nice but much less expensive than Bellevue beautiful views. The other thing that’s better about it is you’re on I five which is a much better freeway than 405, also has light rail coming next month to nearby Lynnwood

Bellevue is the last 'normal' city of size in the state. All the negatives are directly related to why people want to live here. Traffic? Yeah, Amazon, et al have major buildings. People want to work and live here to escape the far-left insanity of Seattle. Good schools, family life, public parks without homeless ruining them... crazy that the other cities can't seem to figure it out.

Don’t come to Seattle.. highest state and local sales tax rates, high crime, elicit drug use everywhere. Police response almost non existent. Extremely high population of homeless most of whom are drug addicts. There are far more negatives than positives. People are rude and unfriendly. The only positive is the summer weather.
