I moved from San Francisco to Seattle in March of 2023 and I couldn't be happier living here, it ain't cheap to live in Seattle, but definitely cheaper than SF, they call Seattle the Emerald City for its beauty and I couldn't agree more, hard to make friends and the Seattle freeze ain't no joke, it's real! 🤣

I do not regret moving up from SF. Enjoying the seasons (yes the rain). Everythings about 30% cheaper. We couldn't afford the sort of home and lifestyle we enjoy here in SF. Nice change of scenery, the nature is lovely. Tahoe was 4hrs away & very expensive. We have Snoqualmie Resort, Crystal Mountain, Stevens Resort all much closer & more affordable. We still have a excellent wine country up here. We have Canadac closeby! The campground are a bit easier to book. Lots of cheap flights to Asia still. Overall a great move.

Born and raised in SD, then age 20-40 lived in LA. Have been thinking of moving to WA for a long time. CA is waaaay to over-priced now. And it is not pretty anymore. It use to be a lot more green but now just brown. Weather is nice but than miserably hot 3-4 months/yr, especially LA. As I get older, I am no longer a beach guy either. I have been looking into Seattle, Tacoma, and Denver. Probably moving to TAC 1st, this year. I've been up to WA a few times and Seattle did feel a little like SD but way more green and wet. I love the rain though and miss green, trees, nature. Also, can't be mad that it is cheaper. Ppl always try and tell me that their city is as expensive as CA... I have never found that true

The sun sets at 4:30 in November and 9:30 pm in July. In the winter, it can be so overcast and dark it looks like night at 10:00 am in the morning. There is a constant drizzle in the fall and winter. You get used to it and just ignore it for outdoor activities. May/June temps can still dip into the fifties during the day. Best weather is July-August, and part of September.

I am a Washingtonian born and raised here, don't move here unless you are willing to put up with the following:
    - CONSTANT rain. It may not be extreme like Texan flash flooding, but it wears on many with time. If you love year-around outdoor activities, this state is NOT suited for that.
    - Are you willing to put up woth a 4:30 PM sunset in the winter?
    - All beaches are not swimmable. The temperature isn't hot enough for it, unless it's a mega rare 100F day. Lakes aren't swimmable most of the year.
    - Hilly - If you want flat, go to the East
    - Allergies - Alderwood, cottonwood, pinetrees, and common grasses. Washington is full of vegetation year-around. This will vary person-to-person. I get runny noses, headaches, and sinus issues all the time.
    - Housing prices - We're some of the worst in the Puget Sound area
    - Liberal police - The crime rates have gotten pretty bad lately. BLM and Antifa were known here during 2020. It is not uncommon for people driving illegally or murderers to get light punishments.
    - This state is NOT business friendly - We have no income tax, but minimum wage and cost of living prices are very high here. The minimum wage in King County is now 20 USD. 16 USD for the rest of the state.
    - Rent prices of 1.5k gets you somewhere in a high crime area
    - Washington is super boring. We do not have amusement parks or outdoor events at all outside of summer.
    - Liberal politics - This is a blue state. If you are red, I highly discourage coming here. Your children will be taken away if you refuse to affirm their transitions. This state banned non cage-free eggs, gasoline in newer buildings, and so on. More is to come.
    - This state is NOT walkable at all. Even Seattle is rather poor for walkability.
    - If you go to Renton, Kent, Seattle, or Tacoma, beware. The crime is out of control. Drugs are everywhere.
    On the bright side.
    - This state has no massive floods (outside of low areas and ports). Tornadoes do happen, but they are so rare that hardly anyone knows they can happen.
    - The weather is never extreme

Been in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho ever since and we’ve had a mass migration to this state since 2020 and most of the people coming here from California and the Seattle/Portland area. Luckily, most of the people moving here are conservatives that are escaping the ridiculousness of those areas.

I have never been so bored in my whole life. I really feel I'm trapped in one big small town, nowhere to go, nothing to do. What do you mean the state isn't walkable? Seattle, Spokane, Tacoma, and others are very suited for walking. Where can you walk in Seattle?Queen Anne district, wharf, pioneer square district, Pike Place Market, Capital Hill district, U district, arboretum area, etc. Easy transportation around downtown Seattle! It is very walkable, and downtown buses are free. You don't need a car downtown.
