Hefley Hives
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 29 ม.ค. 2023
Based in Amarillo, Texas. Started in 2020, Hefley Hives is striving to become a sustainable beekeeping operation. We keep bees all within a 100 mile radius in the Texas Panhandle region. With this channel, we want to capture the struggles, obstacles, and hopefully successes of keeping bees in this area.
Mounting the Ezyloader & First Operation
This video shows how I went about installing the EzyLoader 300MH on my flatbed truck. I discuss mounting it to the deck, the underneath cross-bracing, and the electrical side of the EzyLoader installation. #flatbedtruck #silverado #silverado5500 #chevy #chevrolet #forklift #beekeeping #beekeeper #ezyloader #ezyloader300 #ezyloader300mh #beetruck #beewagon

Hello! Tell me please in ezyloader 300 hydro winch with gearbox or direct drive from hydromotor? Take some detailed photos of winch. Thank root_admin@ukr.net
Hello! What is the width of the platform required for mounting ezyloader 300?
8 feet
I hope you are ok! I know your probably going through some difficult time after losing a lot of hives in the fire
Hi, is plywood not damaged by the heat of cooking, the glue doesn't fail ?
Nice very well explained video. Thank you. But you can't sell the honey from the top box anymore since you gave it sugar syrup correct ?
Don't feel bad, let the bees select only the best... In fact, force them into making the decision
Great job Thanks for the video Hows the rebuilding your apiary going?
Is your tank cold rolled steel or stainless steel.
Stainless
@@hefleyhives Thank you
Thanks
👍
Question ? Did you put the graft bar in a day earlier for them to clean , I see a lot of bee keepers do this so maybe worth a try and see if that makes a difference for them raising your queens. Just a thought . 👍
No I didn't. I've seen no advantage in doing so. I think this was due to cold temperatures and dry larvae.
Great tips on feeding your grafting hive for better royal jelly in the larvae cells to graft , your absolutely right I haven’t heard anyone mention this ether except for starter colony, thanks for sharing this , I believe my grafting is going to be a lot better from now on . 👍
Mine has been better as a result.
@@hefleyhives… Mate your not the only one who has been down the road with horrible grafting attempts, i to was just like you till this video you did because Dah it didn’t dawn on me about the egg laying colony feeding as well , I was like they do it naturally she’ll be good but nah shit grafts not good , I don’t think you may have realised newbies who see your video will have a great start doing it right from the get go , thanks for sharing I know I’ll be doing it the right way from now on , thanks again 👍
Engineering done right 😊
How much did this cost ? Did fire insurance money cover it? Now your going to have to go cut all your 4 way pallets in half
I got a little bit of help from insurance but that went towards some used woodenware. All of my pallets are 2-ways
Well you are stepping in high cotton now . I hope it does a great job for you. Was those batteries the #31 group ??. At the end of last year I purchased three new batteries for my motor home it is a Diesel pusher . It takes three 8D batteries. Two of them are deep cycle an the other one is just a regular 8D . $$$$$$$$$. Does that loader have a automatic leveler on it or was that switch to level it manually each time you setup??. I think you will be happy with it an it will save your back an body . Thanks for taking us along on this build . Thanks
Looks great Russell! That is a nice setup!
Thanks Chris. Stole a couple ideas 😉
Great job!! You remind me so much of my husband..there’s nothing you can’t do! Just wondering if you were raised on a ranch like him? He wants an EZYloader but we only have 70 hives at this point and we only planned on having 5 or so when he retired and came off the road a few years ago! He is doing everything he can to justify the cost but just hasn’t got there yet🤣🤣 youve done an awesome job and know you’ll be happy you did everything just how you want it and have pretty much thought everything through in future needs!! Can’t wait to see your videos this year!! So so happy to see someone use this that’s in our neck of the woods weather wise!! We’re in north Florida! Again so proud of you..excellent job!!
I'd say I was raised in agriculture. Cows and hay mostly
That’s a lot of work to get to this point! Great job!
Yes it was, thank you!
Fun, fun you are gona love having that new toy.(tool)😁
You got that right!
Is that a Dodge or a Chevy. It looks like a Dodge. But you have a Chevy emblem up front😂😂😂
Lol! I will at least acknowledge a Dodge. Have nothing to do with a Ford.
All good things come from Australia Lol in Australia mostly mounted middle of tray or at the rear so we can load trailer as well . Great vid cheers
Lol. 🍻
Very nice set up. You are a craftsman, well thought out and executed.
Thanks Steven 👍
Love it
Thanks Rex
I like your idea on the color . You have done a great job designing an building. I was a heavy equipment mechanic for forty seven years before I retired an there is two things (1) in your electrical box you put at the back to tie your wiring harness together I do not care if they have a gasket or a o-ring for the cover on the box . I would highly suggest putting electrical grease on your wiring connection bolts because moisture will get in there . ( 2) The only thing I do not like about it is the truck is not in my Driveway for me to use . LOL HAHA. Thanks for the update you did a great job an I sure hope you get a lot of use out of it. Thanks
Good point on the grease, I'll have to address that. I need many many years of service from this truck! Lol
Awesome work on the bee wagon … making me jealous! lol Very sorry about the hives you lost in the fire! I was hoping you did not have any hives in that area
Yah it's my main overwintering area. Wish I would've had the bee wagon ready in time. Might've been able to save a few
Wow..(insert Hefley Hives name here) you did an awesome job!! My husband has been drooling the whole time watching this!! Are you still gonna show us the icing on the cake?? EZYLOADER?? I hope so or my husband is going to be so disappointed🤦♀️😩he can’t believe you had it for a year and didnt rig something up to use it🤣🤣he would not have slept a wink knowing that was in his barn all this nights not being used🤣🤣
Ha! I didn't want to deal with it until I had the right truck for it. Thought I would find one easily but with covid the used market was all out of whack. Sunday morning..Ezyloader install
I love it looks great
Thanks!
Looks great! I might have missed it, but how long is the bed in total now?
212" total. 199.5" are usable for the EzyLoader
That's BadA$$!
👍
Looking Good ,
Thanks Kajun
Losing one or two to hive beetles or wax moths is tough. I can't imagine losing dang near 100. Absolutely devastating. Hopefully you can bounce back stronger.
I can envision coming out better on the other side of all this. Will take time though
Excellent video cousin. The devastating is just heartbreaking 💔 It’s a tough thing to see but I think people need to see it. I hope there’s some accountability coming.
Devastating. So sorry for your loss!
Appreciate it
That is a real kick in the gut . I was a fire fighter for a lot of years so I know just what it can do but that still doesn’t make it any easier. This really brakes my heart for you . Was that all your colonies or do you have more other places. 😢😢😢. There is another bee keeper In California I watch an he had the same thing happen to him last year. Thanks for the update. Sorry.
Luckily I had others outside the burn area. But, of course, the ones lost were my strongest.
I had to subscribe because you had 666 subscribers and I'm not a fan of that number
On a positive maybe Turkeys are smarter or luckier then they look.😁Sorry, trying to lighten the mood a little. 🙏But 100% Prayers.🙏
Turkeys are pretty damn smart. But like anything else, they have a couple weaknesses.
@@hefleyhives We do a "Sunday Fellowship beekeeper Live" on Gunline Bees and I all ready sent them an email that I want to share your story around the community. Prayers and Blessed Days...
Those fires moved fast in all that wind, it's by the Grace of God so few lives were lost. Oh more then 1 yard was burnt, I don't have words. Prayers for all those effected by this.
2 yards pretty much wiped out
I hope you guys band together and sue the dogshit out of the power company!!!
As one lawyer said, "This ain't McDonald's coffee"
On the last run through your area we could smell the wet ash but it was at night.seeing it in the light is devastating. Hope you can get help with your recovery from the power company. Sorry you all have to go though this.
Have to put up a fight. What brought you through these parts if you don't mind my asking?
Wow Russel. Incredible footage … the speed the flames moved was so quick. So sorry for your losses. That’s a big and unexpected impact to your 2024 operations. Hopefully the rest of 2024 is better.
Hopefully
Sorry for your loss 😢
🤝
I’ve had that same problem and came to the same solution. Now I not only keep my cell builders fed up but also my breeder hives. Makes a big difference. Great video.
Thanks for watching
All looking great. Be good to see the finished product an heading to the bee yards to work. Thanks
👍Can't wait to put it to work!
Just another thought on the backside of your square hole do you think there needs to be a piece of 4” channel going side to side in between the ones on each side going front to back. Just to have one on all four sides of the piece on the loader coming through the floor . 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️. What is the weight lifting limit on the lift all the way out .
I don't think so. That area is very strong as it is. It's only supporting a small portion of the loader weight. It's rated for 300kg or 661lbs
@@hefleyhives thanks . That is a pretty good amount of weight for as long as it is . That would sure save a old body like mine . It looks like you did a great job on upgrades . I hope it works great for you .
😲👍👍👍
👌
Did you watch @aCanadianBeekeepersBlog video about him building his new bed for his easyloader? He ran into a couple hitches while building his that he had to work around. While I would want the boom in the back of the bed so I could do trailers, you do have a couple good points. Advantages of doing it your way, better gas mileage, better stability being in center of truck mass, less likely to back into something with it, better visibility behind truck and no being just that half an inch too short on the bed as you could overhang if need bee. I don't think you are overthinking things at all, better slow and steady than to run with it to have to redo it.
Yes I saw his video. My bed is a little different and my fuel tank is not in the way. I show why in the next video
All getting on the way . By lowering the bed what will your distance be between bed an tires with a load on it . Just a idea I know your easy loader will be braced but I have saw the steel on the bed crack an split from vibration so heavier built is a lot better than under doing your bracing an the thickness of the bed plate . The loader is tall an narrow . Also on the back I would go at least a few inches longer than you need for your pallets to set on the bed . Just a thought. Thanks for the update.
I've had it mocked up and it won't hit the tire before the stop hits the springs.
Second last comment 👍

This is awesome!! My husband is so happy we have someone in the US with an EZYloader we can watch! He’s 68 but says when he grows up he’s gonna get an EZYloader😂thanks again for taking the time to share, we’ve enjoyed all your videos!
Just how in the crap did that not set that completely on fire when the wax started burning 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️. Well if you need a medium super you have got one now by just cutting the bad bottom off . Have you got your new truck in service yet??. Thanks for the update. Thanks
Getting closer on the truck. Dealing with the fire set me back about 3 weeks
Maybe you can sell this honey as “smoked flavor honey” lol. Glad it didnt get them all!
I had thought something along the lines of "honey roasted"..?
