I genuinely find it kind of interesting that you think that Jungeun wouldn't do well because she would feel discouraged that she wasn't center, why do you feel that way? Because out of all of the contestants I didn't get the vibe from Jungeun that she wouldn't like not getting a big part like the center, because while it did seem to me that she didn't ask to be named the main vocal it seemed to me that she was fine with anything as long as she can show her abilities and she never complained about it or shown frustration or anything like that 😭

i really don’t like that you eliminated mai, so i won’t keep watching the video.. i just don’t agree. i hope ur series goes well tho! (i do realize how rude this sounds, but if we’re also basing this universe of their popularity during the show. mai was more popular than gyuri, sujung, juwon, & yuju. i feel she would’ve been voted in over 3 of the 4. sure, she isn’t the strongest but she has a strong fan base and people love voting for potential. i think she would’ve been voted it. but aye, its ur opinion.)

Alternate universe where gyuri gets what she deserves 😢😢

One of the biggest issues I-Land 2 had was that it shared a LOT of pre-planning with RUNext, and it showed. There are so many song's a lot of people had JUST seen performed and even rounds with similar themes. Like come on The first round of RUN had the contestants singing Hybe debut songs, and then the final round of I-Land 2 had everyone choosing to sing debut song's. More potential for overlap, like what if the girls had choose Fearless, Attention or Eleven all of which were options and all of which were on RUN. They selected Bad Boy after watching the main vocal slay of that song on RUN. The money performance was also questionable because regardless of how good the stage presence and dance was in comparison it was always going to fall short because the RUN version had live vocals alongside it and in the current kpop climate that is highly valued. And they are aware alot of viewers watched RUN, I mean one of their contestants in Jeemin was literally on both shows and came in with a MASSIVE fanbase from RUN who were watching specifically for her. It's also a sequel to the original I-Land which formed a Hybe group, so safe to say many of them will be watching both sister group survival shows. I get they were supposed to be 1 show originally and these things take a lot of time to plan and renegotiate but they should have known to go back to the drawing board, of course RUN would come out first, CJ had to find new companies to work with whereas Hybe was entirely self sufficient, and clearly people were not lining up to be the company behind this show because it's literally collaborative where the blacklabel wanted to do it but didn't have the trainee's and wakeone didn't want to do any of the creative missions.

I agree that the training bootcamp and improvement-focused structure would be very entertaining and effective for a survival show, but with this pool of trainees I don’t think it would work. Like you pointed out, almost all the original grounders were “filler” with a HUGE skill gap to the original ilanders. To put things in perspective, 11/12 trainees that made it to pt 2 were original ilanders and the final lineup consisted of trainees ranked in the top 11 from preshow evaluations. All the original grounders besides Choi Soul had 6 months of training under their belts already, and I just don’t see many of them on a trajectory to genuinely compete with the original ilanders unless they had YEARS more training, not just a month or two of “wakeone training.”

wow a new video. thank you for continuing to do your analysis. You may like universe league pace, rules / gamification of the casting process. there are still some luck / popularity base eliminations, but the balance team aspect looks to be a core appeal.
