Very informative video. Liked your idea of using a box to catch any debris. Good luck with your build. Must be hard balancing work and the build. 😬
You need to make money doing your own show. Wow. Very very impressive.
I would love to do that 😆 I have sooooo much knowledge to share but the editing is so much work 🥹
I’m building out a Sprinter at the moment in between snowstorms here in the NE…it’s kinda brutal.
I hear yeah, was a rough couple months in freezing temps - but I’m making my way south now to warmer weather 🥹
These videos are excellent. Thankyou.
Thank you for the kind words!
how much did this kit run your father's credit card?
I don’t need anyone else’s credit card when I have cash of my own 🙌🏼 I work for what I want in life - all me.
Very informative, done your research well, if I may add, make sure any adhesive is heatproof !! as soon as hot sun hits metal it will soften adhesive, anything affixed will sag and lift away, the ceiling major !! headliner really prone as well, applies to anyone re-covering old headliner fabric .. you're a knowledgeable young lady , keep on keeping on !! 😊
You don't need AC in the summer at all? or the 2 exhaust fans could handle it, plus maybe an additional electric fan?
You van get the same thing from home Depot.
Gotta love women's logic
Also, 4:30 a magnet works great for metal chips/dust. TIP: put a latex glove over the magnet then remove glove while over trash can so you don't have to fight all the metal stuck to the magnet
Whats the clear plastic over back doors? Seen the screens but never a clear divider......how does that help with temps? Thanks!!!😊
Lauren it looks like you were slinging the paint😂.
Huge time saver, Looks great.
I bet if you calculate the time spent at work to pay for them it’d be closer to the same than you think
Thank you and congratulations! This is an excellent reference video about all the options and aspects. Awesome job 👍
You are so beautiful and sexy. ❤
stain??
I used polyurethane originally (ended up redoing it white) but you can use stain or paint too.
Wooo new vid! I’m about to start my van and using your vid’s for guidance is gonna be so helpful! Is there anything in the beginning stages, insulation material choices/furring strips/maxxair fan install/rust prevention/rivnut choices whatever, that you would do differently now that you have lived in your van for a while? Would be super helpful to know so I can avoid issues in my build! I live in sweaty gross Australia so my issues aren’t cold insulation (I love the cold, I should live in Finland Im that heat intolerant, no joke) so your insulation choices in action are what I’m really curious about!
Are you still happy with your window choices?
Do you still like your swivel seat from scopema?
When I saw your tutorials, I felt like fate had finally found me; it's all what I'm looking for, and I guess we have the same Promaster 2500 (mine just 2025). I don't usually copy other work, but this time I would. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I’m so glad you found the channel! Best of luck on your build 😄
Great explanation
Thank you!
Vous êtes vraiment une légende. Il y a tellement d’énergie positive dans toutes vos vidéos, je m’inspire tellement de vous. Bravo et continuez comme ça
Merci 🫶🏻💖
You ma'am should teach. You are a natural educator. Even a technical school would appreciate your ability.
Thank you, I appreciate the kind words ☺️
Excellent travail, vous êtes une professionnelle
Merci beaucoup!
This is an amazing install. Super cool. 😎 My only tiny thought is instead of the 12|12 30 which I used the first time I switched to the Orion XS. The XS works far better. Small thing.
Cool, glad that works well for you ☺️
I used 5mm neoprene that has a sticky back, it compresses wherethe ridges are and stays fluffy where it isn't. It also makes the van a lot less noisey.
👍🏼
According to what you have explained this Thinsulate sounds pretty good. I'm just wondering how to get it?
Amazon! Here is the link to my website with it listed: www.laurenlawliss.com/miscellaneous-supplies
@LaurenLawliss Got it Thanks ✌🏻 How has it been through the years with winters and summers?
Wow! I was nervous about building a van until I came across your channel. Not many are as detailed as you! Now I’m confident to start my van build this summer 🎉 all materials I use I’ll make sure to use all of your links as my support and thanks to you !!! ❤
I love to hear that - You can do it! Here is my website where I have EVERYTHING used in my van build linked: www.laurenlawliss.com/shop. Best of luck on your build this summer 🫶🏻💖
Playdoe idea was so genius ❤
Thanks! It came in handy many times during the build 😆
Tesla has their own flatmounts for both the standard and mini Starlinks. No need for aftermarket crap like this.
They have mounts for stationary places, like a pivot mount for a roof, but I am not aware of a moving car mount 😊
Bravo! Best tutorial on electrical I have seen!
Thank you - glad you liked it 😁
Excellent
Thank you!!
how much for did you spent in total for Insulation?
A few hundred dollars in 2022
@@LaurenLawliss Thanx thinking of doing it my self
Lot of these components are redundant and useless. DC-to-DC charger isn't needed with such a large solar system. Same for solar isolator and cutting a hole in the side of a van for sure power that you'll never use.
Actually, for the last three months I’ve had to rely solely on the Orion and shore power to charge my batteries since I was up north in the winter time with no sun. So each component does have a time and place 👍🏼
Some of these are really amazing
Such unique ideas!
Elevated fridge is a must
It’s a game changer.
Only thing that morning walk was missing was a tumbler of coffee 😊
Trueeee
Just one question, whose tools are they?😊
Mine 👍🏼
You are so lucky you didn’t lose a finger or destroy your hand, never use a table saw like that, please look into safety with table saws
I’m aware it was unsafe and do not recommend it to anyone with little table saw experience. I know my skill level and how to use the machine so I felt very confident making that cut.
10000$ as well
Certainly wasn’t cheap
My van I'd stationary. 1990 Ford economize high top. Been staying at same spot 6 yrs, haven't moved. But it's at my office complex so need to remain stealth as possible,,, not be making area look like a camp build. I think rigid on roof us still stealth enough.. if don't have any space between the rood and panel. Is there any reason why the solar panels should not just lie flat against van roof?
Nice! My solar panels sit on top of a roof rack, but you could certainly forgo a roof rack and install them directly on the roof. Personally I did not want to drill more holes into the roof which would potentially lead to rust and leaks. Also, if I ever want to rearrange my roof setup, I can do so without leaving holes in the roof. Lastly, sometimes heat build up can occur between the roof and solar panels when directly on the roof. Thankfully, my roof rack rails help to hide what I have on my roof and gives air flow under the panels. Hope this helps ☺️
what size screws did you use for your pocketholes?
For 1/2 boards it’s recommended to use 1” long pocket hole screws. For 3/4” boards it’s recommended to use 1 1/4” long pocket hole screws.
was it difficult to run the wiring after the insulation was put in the thin holes? how did you make sure you didn't screw into the wires when you were installing cabinets etc?
Nope! Just push the installation back a little and there is plenty of room to run wire. When I screwed the cabinets in place I screwed them into the furring strips which is in front of the wires so no issue there.
Finally an awesome electrical video. I plan on doing a ambulance conversion but can still apply this.
Awesome - Glad you found it helpful! Good luck on your conversion.
Hope you get a chance to finish, you’re doing a great job and I’m learning a lot. You should add the pay button on your TH-cam so we can all give you a couple of bucks every now and then to help you… If everyone sends you a couple of bucks it should help a lot… Thanks for the great videos…
The van is done! And I loveeeee it. Great ways to support me is watching, liking, commenting and sharing my content. Lauren I really messed up. I’m so mad at myself. I cut a hole off center and now the front fan doesn’t sit flat. Can I just put butyl tape on that little divet and then screw the frame on? Then lap sealant? I’m so mad at myself
Hey there! It’s okay - from my experience there is always a way to fix things. I would use butyl tape under the uneven surface and build it up to fill the entire gap. Then make sure it is sealed well with the dicor lap sealant. Deep breath, you got this!
@@LaurenLawliss that's exactly what i did yesterday. two hours after applying the dicor lap sealant it started raining and dropped from 50 to 20 degrees F. We put a tarp over it propped up on a bench to create a tent and then taped it down. it never got wet thank god. This morning the sealant is still squishy... we leave for a road trip from stl to LA in 11 days and it cannot be pushed back. i feel like i just keep messing up!
I'm installing mine today - thanks again for the exceptionally clear tutorial!
Wahoo!! I hope the install went well ☺️
Smart girl ❤❤❤❤❤ I love your content!!! Thank you!
Thank you 💖💖
wow im fairly handy and just brought home my Transit last night. After watching this video feel much better of the direction i will take. thx
Glad to hear! Good luck on your build ☺️
I have a bus bar arrangement on my van. When ensuing the the +/-cables are the same length so that the batteries charge and discharge evenly is it important that they are the same length starting from the bus bar or just as you’ve shown here?
As I’ve shown here is most ideal 😄
