Thanks for taking me back in time. I rebuilt the same engine back in 1983 following the guidance from the book "How to Rebuild your Big Block Ford" by Steve Christ in a garden shed and on a limited budget. Sucess!!
hello! thanks! the old manifolds were on the engine only for the test run! now this engine is running in a 67th ford mustang, which was converted into a 68th mustang fastback in "bullitt" style! we have selfmade a pair of stainless steel headers for this engine! it runs pretty well and has a very nice sound!!! the car, which was completely restored, drives very save and fast!!! :) it makes fun!
Wow thats awesome haven't even thought of one of these angines in a long time. My friend had one in a 76 f250 what a champ. It was as good at offroading as it was at plowing snow. Always started right up!
thanks very much! for a ford fe webside, there is a ford fe internet forum ! i don´t know the webside now! i used only books: "how to rebuild your Ford Big block" "ford performance" "engine blueprinting" i would say, that these books are important for an engine rebuild! there are all information, you need! good luck!
The cam sounds really mild. Should make for an awsome street engine. Its good to hear old ford iron brought back to life! I agree, shit can the logs & find some factory 427 hedder manifolds or just a good set of hedders.
hi! i think, i spended about 2000 $ on parts + working time, which I´ve done myself! the car goes on europe´s biggest vintage car show next week! after that the car will go on a dynotest run! the engine runs with a new 750cfm Summit carb this time! i will let you know, how much torque and power this enigne produces! ;-) Kind Regards,
hey, nice engine, but whats the name of the song in the begining???? Thanks. oh and do you know of any good websites for ford 390 engine specs, and numbers, we have a a ford fe or ft enine but don't know what it is. thanks
Hey i plan on doing the same thing. Did you completely rebuild it yourself? or did you take the block to a machine shop and install everything else? I recently found out that I have a 428 block and am restoring my 67 fastback. I wanted to go the bullit route.. but im going to paint it the original vintage burgandy with pearl white stripes :)
