I couldn't agree more, paying the people that protect our country from attack, how ridiculous! You could move to Syria, Yemen, Afghanistan, Iraq, Central African Republic, Somalia, Iran, Pakistan, South Sudan, or places like these where you don't have to waste your money on protection!

Definitely a big difference in each MOS! I’d recommend 11 series…if you have interest in tanks, you could be mechanized Infantry and will ride in Bradley’s and/or could potentially become a Bradley driver!

One big difference is 11B trains long range and close combat…19D keeps their distance. I assume you’re going active duty? If you were going Guard they can guarantee that you’re an 11B but yeah, active they can make you an 11C and I wouldn’t be too excited about that either. I didn’t even know that was a thing when I joined lol but when I was at Infantry School and they started telling us our duty stations, I heard a couple people get told they’d be 11C’s…but I’d say maybe only 2 soldiers out of 40 something

@@Marelum good news for you, I’ve been seeing waivers approved up to the age of 44! That means you still have time to get in shape and study for the ASVAB. Could you imagine if right now you just said F it, I’m all in, and for the next year started a healthy and nutritious diet, began exercising 5 days a week, and studied for the ASVAB for 5 days a week? Imagine where you’d be in a year. That fat lady hasn’t sang yet, you still have hope and a chance!

Yes, you definitely can. I was…I will make a video on this topic eventually. You can work full time at a lower rank but it’ll be on temporary full time orders…typically the full time permanent positions are for E5 and above…but as an E4 I was on temporary full time orders for 90 days once.

I just sent a text asking your question to my boy who is a First Sergeant and has regular communication with MEPS...I will let you know what he says when he responds but for some reason when CAT4 is opening has always been some strange secret...in my time as a Recruiter, we would get like a heads up maybe a day or 2 before the CAT4 list opened but they never gave us more of a notice than that...which never made sense to me

he just responded and said that more CAT4 slots could be opening up as soon as the end of this month so be ready!

how long ago was the therapy and depression diagnosis? if it was recent, they may require a waiting period to make sure you remain stable...in the mean time, you should try adding some positive notes to your back...so a couple examples would be, perform well at work, show positivity and a good work ethic...then when the time comes you could get your work to write a letter providing positive feedback on you, maybe become a member of a church or community organization, or things like this so that when this waiting period has past, not only can you show that you've not relapsed back to depression, but you've done a bunch of positive things...does that make sense? You might require a waiver and included in your waiver you can have your work, church leaders, community organizations, etc provide you letters/statements about who you are and then you can provide those to your recruiter, and your recruiter can package those up with your medical waiver...but even if you don't require a waiver, those statements can still be sent to the MEPS doctor when enlisting to ease the mind of the doctor and approve you physically to enlist.

So, on your behalf, I just made a call to a higher up that I know and he said they've been getting people in left and right that have had depression in the past. The biggest thing is there just needs to be at least a 1 year waiting period of no longer having depression.

@@SFCBEITZ I only have a DUI on my live scan & record. But when they got the sheriff report they put stuff about gangs in there. It's just the neighborhood where I was raised and the friends I grew up with. Never been charged w a gang enhancement or any other charge for that matter. So my first recruiter kicked me to the curb now I'm at a hole different one. Fingers crossed though.

Correct, everyone must go through Infantry School to be an Infantryman!

Regardless of the MOS or enlisted/officer, everyone has to go through various training to learn the fundamentals of being a soldier and their job.

@@billybob2787 you’ll need a moral waiver to join in general and that may be difficult to get approved, especially if you have any other background blemishes…however, if you have a Recruiter who is experienced with waivers, they should know what to get and how to package it up to get you approved for enlistment. Then once you are in, maybe after several years, you could try to get a secret clearance.

You chose an excellent route!

If you want airborne in your contract you will almost surely have to go Infantry because almost all airborne units are Infantry...additionally, you will only be able to wear the maroon beret if you are in an airborne unit...so, if you don't go Infantry, and go to airborne school in the future from a non airborne unit, you will not be able to wear the maroon beret, but you will wear the jump wings on your uniform.

lol I understand...I've mentioned this several times in the past but we had a 42 year old in our Infantry platoon at Infantry School and he did just fine! What is so crazy is, I am not even 42 years old yet, and I've already completed my whole career and retired lol but with that being said, being 33 and 30, you guys should do just fine! As far as running shoes, I would suggest going to an actual running shoe store that measures the length and width of your feet, and assists you in finding a custom pair...however, that might be out of your price range. For me personal, I've always stuck with Nike Pegasus shoes for running, they just feet my feet the best, they're comfortable, sporty, they're lightweight with good soles and traction. However, other brands I recommend for running are Brooks, Asics, Hoka, and Saucony.

@@1stinfantryproductions I watched and liked one of your videos (the grooming standard video)! It's cool that you are so young with such an interest in the military! JROTC will be a perfect start for you! As a Recruiter I would visit my high school JROTC's often and I had a college with an ROTC as well. I will tell you that anybody that I enlisted who had ROTC experience excelled quicker than a person without that experience. Also, 4 years JROTC will allow you to enlist at a higher rank when you do the Army!
