Random Question about MH, if you're unsure I understand. I have been denied a rating for Depression after having zero evidence of it in my records back in 2021. Now that I have a diagnosis from the VA that clearly connects my MH to my shoulder injury that is already SC, would I have a good shot now? Sorry for the inconvenience, just thought you'd have an opinion. Great video!

Oh you absolutely have a shot now! Appeal right away! Make sure you continue being seen for MH/depression in the mean time. Make sure you’re picking up any medication prescribed for MH and getting refills - they look at that. They look at it like, well this situation can’t be too bad if they’re not even getting/taking the medicine they’re being prescribed. Medical records are ammo, and the more ammo you have, the more likely you will be to get approved. Plus, the more evidence, the higher the rating. You can also submit written statements from friends, family, battle buddies, etc. that are witnesses to your symptoms. Don’t let that initial denial discourage you from appealing.

@SFC Beitz thank you so much! I've been reaching out to different veteran lawyers to get someone to take my case for an appeal. I have 2 different mood stabilizers from the va and it's labeled in my record how significant my depression is. Based on the criteria, I'd say it's possible I'd be either the 70% or the full 100% 😔 but I won't know until the long upcoming wait. Thank you for your response, I really appreciate it!

No problem! Stay on top of it and don’t give up! The VA is almost designed to make the process difficult and frustrating but we sacrificed so much and veterans deserve to be taken care of for their sacrifices.
