does this camera allows to record? how about the timer set up?

The camera is automatic so you can't control the shutter speed. It is a point and shoot. The battery is internal so you just need to plug in the camera and charge it.

@@nabilahzdn196 You can't make videos on the camera. There is a 2 and 10 second timer for capturing images.

I didn't even use the almost limitless number of apps you can use for photography on the iphone. When one takes into account those apps, there is so much more you can do on the iphone.

I don't think you can go wrong with either Kevin. It depends what you are looking for when you are capturing those full body portraits. If you want a bit of a blurrier background then go for the 105mm. If you want to be nearer to your subject and have a closer working distance so it might be easier to communicate, then the 85mm is better.

I captured the images from the exact same perspective with a APSC (cropped) sensor and a (35mm) full frame sensor. @@thephotographytoolkit that‘s a good video, but it supports my point. in your experiment there are too many factors at play. lenses have different focal lengths than they say, those change even more at close distance. also, if you mounted the cameras on the same tripod the sensor will be placed slightly differently in the camera. all of these factors will be exaggerated by the really wide angle of view you‘ve chosen. if you think about it you can‘t achieve a different perspective without moving the camera location, so focal length or sensor size doesn‘t change the perspective, they just change the crop of the image

@@ChrisThe1 I guess we will have to agree to disagree Chris. In my examples, I limited the factors that changed to exactly one thing: the focal length of the lens..I purposefully used a zoom lens so it would have the same lens elements. I know the lens elements move inside the lens when zooming, but there isn't anything I can do about that. Nothing else changed or moved.

@@thephotographytoolkit distortion changes as you zoom. Also with the wide aperture and different set focus distance it's hard to compare.

@@ChrisThe1 Like I said Chris, we are just going to have to agree to disagree. The purpose of my video is to show that you can't just multiply the focal length of a full frame lens when you put it on a APSC camera and get the same image as you would on a full frame sensor. A 14mm FF lens on an APSC camera will look different than a 21mm lens on a FF camera. If you are still not convinced, I would recommend doing the test yourself.

I am not sure why you don't have the green square for focus that can be seen at the 2:14 mark of the video. When I slightly depress the shutter release button to focus, I don't see it but after a short delay (as the camera focuses), it shows up. It allows me to focus and lock exposure and then recompose without lifting my finger off the slightly depressed shutter release button. I thought it might have something to do with face detection being turned on or off but it shows up for me for both. It also shows up when macro is on or off. Is your firmware for your camera is up to date?

Great question! I have actually recently just purchased a Mint TL70 plus camera which uses square Instax film. It is a TLR camera and I think it is absolutely beautiful. The screen is the same size as the print so you see what you get. It isn't a hybrid camera like the Mini Evo so you can't choose which images you print but I am really excited about the larger print size. It also allows for automatic or manual control so I am looking forward to exploring the possibilities. It is a more expensive option than the SQ20 and SQ10 so we will see if it is worth it. Maybe check out the Mint cameras as there are some other options that take Instax film: mint-camera.com/en/shop/cameras/

@@thephotographytoolkit Thank you so much for replying! The TL70 looks amazing, but definitely out of my price range lol. Especially as a first camera. I found an unopened, never used SQ10 for s reasonable price, so I just bought it! And I'm very excited, despite it's clunky design😅 While getting it, I saw the square and mini photos side by side and decided that the mini prints aren't too small after all! But that i was still happy with my purchase, sooo...I will probably end up with an Instax Mini Evo in addition to the SQ10. I think they serve different but equally great purposes. The square cameras are very big (the SQ weighs almost 500 grams) and the Evo is going to be more portable. I'm really looking forward to learning about instant cameras and having a more present and analog life:)

@@googleuser25 That is fantastic that you got a SQ10 for a reasonable price. I hope you enjoy capturing images with it. Any camera that takes the square format film will definitely be larger so there isn't much that can be done about that. Having both the SQ10 and the mini Evo will give you options and I would just try to enjoy each camera for what they are. Have fun!

Unfortunately there currently isn't a square shape polaroid which has these functions. That would be something I would LOVE to see in the future!

I would say 'equivalent' instead of the 'same.' But I feel that the video shows more than this. It shows that you can't just multiply the focal length of a full frame lens when you put it on a APSC camera and you will get the same image as you would on a full frame sensor.

Thanks! I am so glad you like my content. To be honest, the camera is only a 4.9 megapixel camera which gives you a file of just over 1 MB. It isn't something that you are going to be able to enlarge so if that is important then I wouldn't recommend it. I like it for what it is - a fun camera with various effects that will print Instax sized images and also images from my phone. Thanks for the comment Faith. You are correct that you get the same exposure with an APSC sensor as you do with a full frame sensor and the same lens set to the same aperture. The opening of the aperture does not change and the exposure does not change. That is why we use the term equivalent aperture because the look of the image is different. @@thephotographytoolkit Thanks for the explanation, I agree for the most part but during my test, what I found was, comparing R6 full frame + RF to EF adapter vs R7 apsc + speedbooster on the same full frame F/1.8 50mm ef lens, the r7 + the metabones speedbooster gave me an equivalent focal length of 57mm with wide open at f/1.2 gave a much shallower dept of field than on the full frame body, it might just be the 7mm difference however the dept of field feels closer to like an 85mm lens wide open at f/1.8 rather than 35mil /1.2. It might also be due to the barrel distortion caused by the speedbooster however the distortion is only a little, not even noticable unless you look closer and really pay attention. Thanks again.

I haven't done any direct comparisons between those cameras but I actually own a F80 and a F100. The F100 is fantastic and it is better than the F80 when it comes to autofocus. You're right about the F6 being more advanced so I would assume it is better than the F100 but it may be hard to give actual numbers.

That is awesome you are going to see Taylor Swift next month! Enjoy the experience. It is absolutely incredible! I do recommend trying things out beforehand in darker conditions to see how well everything works. If you really want to go for the best quality, you could try to enable ProRAW Max on your iPhone. Go to Settings > Camera > Formats and turn on "ProRAW & Resolution Control" and once you do that you will be able to select "Pro Default" and the highest setting is ProRAW Max (up to 48 MP). Then when you go into your camera there will be a "RAW Max" icon. If there is a line through it, then just tap it and the line will go away and it will be active. It will give you a larger file size and will give you the most data in your image to deal with later for things like shadows and highlights etc. The photos do take up A LOT more space so be aware of that. I hope you have the best experience ever!

I am not sure if it would have weather sealing or not without the cap.You can definitely get the flash sync cap. The ones you can find on ebay or other places might not be labelled as for the Df but it is the same cap that goes on the F4 and F5. I just tested it and took the cap off my f5 and f4 and they fit on the Df. So just look for one of those.

Sorry for the confusion Freddy. I think I know what is going wrong. Don't set the camera in mirror mode. Use double exposure mode. Cover half the frame for the first shot and then rotate the camera around and change the filter for the second shot. Let me know if that works or if you have any other questions.

@@thephotographytoolkit yeah shortly after I sent that message, I realized that the trick is to continue using double ex. Hearing you say mirror made me assume you were using the mirroring filter so thats why I got confused, thank you!

Thanks for the question. The controls are not illuminated but I didn't have a problem seeing them. In regards to if there is a problem getting the Lumix into the arena, you might want to check with the event as some events (or even some arenas) have blanket rules about cameras. Some say you can't bring professional cameras while others say you can't bring any cameras other than your phone. The Lumix is super compact and easy to carry so I didn't have a problem. I hope that helps.

I think it is funny that you say that my video is older because it is less than a year old and one of my newer videos. 😂 You are correct that if you haven't printed the picture on the Instax Mini Evo, the camera will not give you the option of sending it to your phone. That is definitely a pain. My guess as to why they did this is because I might take a lot of photographs of one subject on my Evo and only choose to print a limited number and maybe they assume the limited number are the ones I want to send to my phone. If I had to scroll through all the hundreds or thousands of photos I have on my camera it might take some time and I might not know which one is the one I like best between similar shots. It would be great if, when transferring to my phone, I could choose between all photos or photos I have printed. That would give me options but still make it easy to find and print the photos I like best and have printed. An option of favouriting photos and viewing just those would work as well. One of your options is tricking the Mini Evo into thinking you have printed as outline here: th-cam.com/video/442TCPqfTA0/w-d-xo.html That process is quite time consuming. I prefer the second option. The second option is just to use a micro USB card and download the photos to your computer then your phone. The photos won't have the white border as they would if you transfer right from the phone. If I really want the white border, I just use a program like photoshop to combine a photo that I have printed and transferred that has the white border with the one from my micro USB. Then I transfer from my computer to my phone. I hope that make sense and I hope that helps.

I've asked questions on other videos and never got answers and assumed it's because the video is "old" and they never saw it. Thanks so much for your thorough reply and I'll keep that work-around in mind. Yes, it makes sense what you say. To be honest, I'm not a big photographer since everything went digital and I'm kind of just looking at options to have physical photos again. My mother had a Ricoh of some sort when we were growing up and us kids really didn't know how to use it properly but my god did we take so many photos! I feel like the magic has been lost a little now, ya know? I may go ahead and pick up a second hand camera from eBay in the end - just checking my options here and the Instax seems really fun and the limitation on transferring them isn't so bad in comparison to the old days when we couldn't even see our results for weeks so I am sure I will adapt - it just seemed like a strange limitation to build into a semi-digital camera. @@TheLiquidCat It is all good! On my end, I try my best to answer questions the best I can. Thanks for the reply. I love both digital and analog photography and I do a bunch of both. I try to appreciate each for what they are and the challenges that come with each format. When it comes to the Mini Evo, I was attracted the the fact that I could capture photos with the camera and also print any photos from my phone. I really like that I can select photos to print and don't have to print everything. I totally understand when you say it is nice to have physical photos. I actually make it a point to get larger photos (30x40 inches or 50x75cm) printed every year and those are from digital files. I also get a book printed of images of my kids every year - like a year in review. Having physically printed photos is fantastic. In fact, the analog images that I capture on film are often scanned so I can share them or use them in other ways. I think what I am trying to say is that I really encourage people to get images printed and not just leave them as digital files and it doesn't matter if the image was captured as a digital file or an analog file. And I love the Mini Evo because it is really easy to capture images and share them. I especially like it when I am out taking pictures of people. I have even captured an image with my DSLR and wirelessly transferred it right away to my phone and then printed it with the mini Evo so I can share a portrait with the person I just took a picture of. That way it acts like a mini photo printer. I hope you enjoy whatever camera you decide to get.

Thanks for the question Mar. I have never used the Canon Zoemini S2 but looking at the specifications I can share some preliminary thoughts. 1. A big part of the fun for me with the Instax Mini Evo is the filters and effects. That is what makes the camera so much fun. You can see my favourite creative techniques here: th-cam.com/video/fsDirWOgxms/w-d-xo.html When I compared the Mini Evo to my iPhone (th-cam.com/video/sjd_O5osyOM/w-d-xo.html) I found that they each made me look at situations differently. I am personally not a fan of the advertised effects on the Zoemini S2 where you put words on the photos. That just doesn't do it for me. 2. The Canon does have many more megapixels than the Instax Mini Evo. So you will be able to do more with them if you download them. 3. On the website, Canon says that you can print 25 pieces of paper on a full charge. That doesn't seem like a lot to me. I am not sure how many the Instax can capture on a full charge but I was able to go out for a day and capture pictures and print them. 4. The big concern for me is the paper for the Canon. I am usually able to find the Instax paper pretty much everywhere. I have an older HP Sprocket which just prints photos from my smart phone and right from the beginning I had a lot of trouble getting paper for it. If the Canon Zink paper is easy to find then great. But I am not sure it is. 5. Canon's website said that the camera's printer has a "printer head life" of 1000 pages. So at some point that printer is breaking down and won't be able to be fixed. 6. I like that you can choose borderless prints with the Canon. To be honest, I would love to try out the Canon Zoemini S2 at some point if I can get my hands on it. I hope this was helpful.

I am glad that the video helped you Gary! The amount of light is exactly the same as the size of the aperture is the same. The reason the bokeh effect is different when the cameras are in the same spot is because of the focal length is different. I hope that helps.

I am not sure what you mean by a much larger lens. The lenses they make for full frame cameras project the image so it fits on the full frame sensor. When you use that lens with a camera with an apsc sensor, the same size image is projected onto the smaller sensor so you get a crop of the full frame image. A bunch of the projected image just doesn't get captured. That is why an apsc sensor is sometimes referred to as a (1.5X) crop sensor. And that is why when you use a camera with an apsc sized sensor you are just getting a cropped full frame image.

@@thephotographytoolkit Yeah sorry, that's pretty dumb of me to think that is. I thought since the sensor increased size, and so its for the lens. But I noticed both had the same mount so there is no incompatibility issues.

Thanks for sharing. I understand what you are saying - if I change distance and aperture differences may be minimized. The point I was trying to make is that capturing an image from the same spot a full frame camera and an apsc camera with an equivalent focal length will give a different image.

The thing is, to get the same framing than a FF with a crop sensor, you have 2 options: either step back if you use the same focal length, or use a wider focal length if you stay at the same place. In both cases, it results in less bokeh, because in the first case you increase the ratio of distance to the subject/distance to the background, and in the second case you use a wider focal length which inherently has less bokeh. This is considering you keep the same aperture for both FF and apsc. You can of course get the same bokeh if you use a 1.5x wider aperture, but for professional work that just doesn’t exist: the brightest primes for apsc are f1.4 (like the Sigma trio) which is equivalent to f2.1 on FF, so you just can’t beat lenses like 50mm f1.4 or f1.2 on FF. Same for a 70-200mm f2.8, there is no such thing as a 70-200mm f1.8 made for apsc.
