    I am wondering if you are exceeding a safe discharge rate for the 5Ah x 18V (90Wh) battery, and are risking a fire. Maybe the Silent Mode is safer, pulling just over 1C from the Tool Battery.

    • @theresatrickforthat
      @theresatrickforthat 21 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Maybe so! I know the power tools themselves pull more than 1C all the time and the Makita batteries have a BMS that add an extra layer of protection. But I’m certainly a believer in being better safe than sorry. Thanks for watching!

    When you have it on eco mode does it still blow 60 degrees out? Is it truly 60 degrees is what I’m really asking.

    • @theresatrickforthat
      @theresatrickforthat 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It blows out very cold air when the compressor is on. But Eco mode causes the compressor to run for a few minutes and then forces it to stay off for a few minutes. During the time the compressor is off, it’s just going to be running the fan blowing ambient air temperature out. Thanks for watching!

    Question for my situation as i already have PV on my roof however, it's not sufficient to replace all of our energy use since I have a grid tie back feed utility agreement. I'm wondering if I do in fact contribute to additional back feed, how would the utility company know if it's coming from my current system or I just supplement a little bit? I understand that this would be behind the contactor and independent of that negating this question anyway

    Great Experiment, You can also set up some solar panels and use a Power Limiting Inverter like the SUN-2000GTIL2. It allows you to "Zero export to grid" , it monitors your home loads and compensates up to 2kw, if the grid goes down, it stops production so you never back feed.

    If the AC draws less than solar provides will the excess power go to other appliances in house? And this is not a problem?

    • @theresatrickforthat

      Yes, if you have more solar connected to the AC unit than it consumes while it is running, the power will backfeed the house. I would highly recommend if you’re to that point getting a grid tie agreement set up so you don’t run any risks. Thanks for watching!

    • @theresatrickforthat
      @theresatrickforthat 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yep! There are two protections. 1. The inverter has rapid shutdown built into it so as soon as it can’t see the grid anymore, it shuts down. 2. If the grid power failed, that means the A/C contactor will open thus physically creating a disconnect with the grid. Thanks for watching!

    Well - I think that more effort should go into refining direct-DC appliances, like many (most in my area) well pumps. But in the mean time, this could be used with great impact for refrigeration, in fact I'm looking into rigging that up... really anything. Got an EV to charge? How about radiant in-floor heating? How about reducing generator demand at live-music events? You know, basically everything.

    In Mid Michigan, my average usage per day, per month is around 30kwh. So just to have 2000 watts total,, for 10hrs is around 15kwh output, a great daily offset, that can be just jammed threw a hefty inverter, into a 30amp home circuit to feed the rest of the home while the sun shines. you'll never output your daily usage, and surely cut what you pay the power co.

      Nice! Just be careful…even at times home usage can be low enough that you run the chance of back feeding the grid. That’s why I recommend you connect this behind the AC contactor to avoid the risk of that. Thanks for watching!

      Well you know it’s 2024, and I’m outside with tons of ventilation and I’m all by myself and you just never know when COVID will jump out and get ya! Haha! Just kidding! In reality, I get really bad spring allergies that medication alone can’t stay in top of, so I wear a mask whenever I go outside to lower the pollen counts I breathe. You’re very observant! Thanks for watching!

    why not permanently feed in to the grid?

      Not a good idea without a grid tie agreement. Thanks for watching!
