You could run a dummy load and forget about running the refrigerator. Lithium Ion is not a pretty picture when it blows up and catches fire, especially with an R600 refrigerator next to it.....wait for it.....KABLAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@aday1637 does it make the fire any smaller if you used a power Bank that senses small control voltage draws like the hundreds of other powerbanks do the led bulb only provides enough load to keep the lesser quality box on you can never say something will catch fire or not and thats with everything but if your afraid to use it sit in the dark and eat bad food.
I guess you get what you pay for. It's got a lot of problems that are not obvious, so I liked that you highlighted its failings. The most concerning one for me was not stating what the battery chemistry is. The thought of a big battery pack like that going into thermal runaway while powering something in my house would be in the back of my mind all the time.
There are some good things and some not so good things about it that’s for sure! I’m happy to hear you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching and commenting!
I have a 1200w 1000wh power station that is rated for a max input of 200watts, i got for emergency. I don't get much sunlight do to were I live. I get 15v in from solar panel i put in the window and was wondering if,I connect one of those 10a 12v-24v, converters to solar panel then converter to input of power station, will that help.?
Delivering 1200 watts should be enough to run a 700 watt microwave (with inverter losses). I have an older 1000 watt power station that can only power the one 600 watt microwave on the market. For Nomads looking for a backup power source I think it would be worth the $499 price for a Bluetti AC180 to have 1800 watts available, charge in 1 hour (instead of 1.6) and charge with 500 watts of solar or dc-to-dc auto charger (instead of 200). The advertised weight of the Egritech is only 22 pounds (vs the 37.4 pounds for the Bluetti AC180) which is a big plus for moving this thing around.
The Bluetti AC180 provides 1800 watts normally and 2700 watts in power lifting mode (for devices without motors). For a repair in the field that might work but with a 2700 watt draw it better be a small job and the welder better be quick. For welding not at a shop an acetylene welder is probably the right tool.

I think all the things it failed at (lost points for) wouldn't really matter if you were using it as a camping type power source.......and as a back up generator, you wouldn't be wanting to use it to dry clothes or microwave. You probably want to run your fridge though....and in summer when the fridge is cycling more often...probably wouldn't shut down.......in winter you may need to check it now and again.....but that wouldn't really be a problem as A, it's winter and your fridge is okay with staying off for a few hours and B, It's a power outage, so you're likely not sleeping blissfully and can check on it regularly enough to reset if need be. The only main concern for me is not the best lithium tech. And the 200w solar charge limit. Not a bad little unit otherwise :)
To be fair it failed with loads that are beyond it's recommended range. I have EB240's at home for emergency backup (each 2400watt hours). They output only 1Kilowatt each and will flip off if you push them much harder. Shame passthrough charging does not work but otherwise I think that is an interesting machine. Shame I'm in the UK with no option to buy.
Yep! That’s what we do here, throw real world stuff at these units with no regard to how much it can power to see how it reacts so I blow my power station up or fry my electronics so you don’t have to! Glad to hear you’ve got some backup power solutions. Thanks for watching!
That’s right! I like to push the power stations to their limit and beyond to see how they behave so you don’t run the risk of burning up your power station or electronics! Thanks for watching and for commenting!
@theresatrickforthat I'm only citing the one size I've owned and used. The watt-hour per cost is pretty much the same through the various sizes if you want to compare value based on ~ $.24 per watt-hour. Multiply that times your watt-hour rating for a more relevant comparison. Let me know the results. I'm genuinely interested.
You can add a small load aside from the fridge so it won't turn off. A 5W lightbulb maybe. Also, a couple of your tests went too far the specs I think. I may be wrong.
Because a lot of people don’t understand how much power different things use and they just plug stuff in. So I’d rather blow my power station up or ruin my electronics instead of someone else if that’s what happens when you overload it. But yes, you’re right…for its price, it has a lot of great performance! Thanks for watching!
Why would you put a 1.5 KW load on a 1.2 KW source, then complain when the power regulation on the source drops the voltage to deliver 1.2 KW?? Buzzz...try again.
Because I would rather it cut off the power all together and not lower the voltage automatically. If I have voltage sensitive stuff plugged into the unit and it automatically lowers its voltage to self regulate…that could cause some serious damage. If they’re going to have that feature…it needs to be able to be enabled or disabled my the end user I feel. Thanks for watching!
Nope! But it is substantially lighter for its capacity as a result. Could be a good solution if you are taking it on the go only a few times a year. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Amazon has it at $469 & a coupon of $160 right now. They go on sale all the time & this model has been around a couple years. I bought their 600w/500Wh battery pack for a couple hundred dollars 18 months ago & use it for electronic charging while camping. No complaints & it recharges fine on solar.
Solar is horrible no lifepo4 not good. Tag team with a generator during outages because it does charge from the wall quickly. It could save you a lot of fuel in that scenario. Charge it from the generator before bed it should run the fridge most of the night recharge with generator in the a.m. Hopefully your lights come back on because no pass thru charging which is pathetic. I would not buy this for that fact alone.
Yeah, there are some drawbacks. Also doesn’t run a fridge for very long as you saw in my test due to it shutting down automatically after no load has been drawn for a while. But that’s why we test things so all of you know what it does and doesn’t do. Thanks for watching!
I’d love to! Got a couple grand to donate for a decent camera body and lens? That’s all I need to fix the complaint! In the meantime, thanks for watching!
You could use a lamp with a led bulb as a dummy load to keep the unit on to run a refrigerator.
Great idea! This is why I love comments from all of you! Thanks for watching and commenting!

I got mine for 289 couple days a go. I love mine
Awesome to hear! Thanks for watching!
You have really done your homework I've been considering a power station. 🧐😲🤔
Thank you! And thanks for watching!
The pass through charging is a bummer 😢. But you can't beat the price. It would be great for phones and small electronics. Thanks for the video.
Yes! It has its drawbacks, but is a pretty decent power station, especially for how cheap it is! Thanks for watching!

One good thing though, is that once it goes into thermal overload, it would no longer be in the back of your mind................KABLAM!!!!!!
The power station is not the problem. It needs to have more batteries attached to it for a heavy element. That's why the voltage is dropping.
Needs a bigger inverter too along with the larger batteries! Thanks for watching!
Probably not. I would just add more solar. Thanks for watching!

Great thoughts! Yes! The Egretech is very light! Makes it very portable! Thanks for watching!
Not good that it can't run the refrigerator, nice that you took chance it didn't ruin your computer .
Yep! Running a fridge...not so good. Computer...great! Thanks for watching and commenting!
i would love to see if any of these power stations could supply a welder and for how long?
That would be cool! Great idea! Thanks for watching and commenting!

I would agree with you on this for sure! Thanks for watching!
If the lithium ion batteries went into thermal overload it would make a perfect campfire on that camping trip.
To be fair it failed with loads that are beyond it's recommended range.

Rated for 1200w output and the voltage dropped when you tried a 1500 watt hot plate - hardly surprising !
That’s right! I like to push the power stations to their limit and beyond to see how they behave so you don’t run the risk of burning up your power station or electronics! Thanks for watching and for commenting!
I can still buy a 12 volt 7 AH SLA for less than that per watt-hour.
Yikes! A 12V 7Ah Sealed Lead Acid Battery would not be a good option compared to this! Thanks for watching!

Thx u
My pleasure! Thanks for watching!
You must have gotten really lucky or something, because all of the Egretech Sonic 1200 models I could find are closer to between 450 and $500. 🤔
Maybe so! Just use my link and coupon code to get it at this sweet price!
Why would you plug in things it isnt designed to run,and then say it doesn't work? Actually very good for the money.
Because a lot of people don’t understand how much power different things use and they just plug stuff in. It's not a lithium phosphate
Nope! But it is substantially lighter for its capacity as a result. Could be a good solution if you are taking it on the go only a few times a year. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Uh, no, not for that price.
can build your own unit for 6 cents a watt hour... i can believe the price lol.
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
It’s 400 dollars.
Yes it is…until you apply my coupon code! Thanks for watching!

It looks so cheap plastic I hope doesn’t explode in the future
It feels pretty solidly built, I don’t have any issues with its build quality. Thanks for watching!
If it explodes it won't matter the type plastic used.
capacity test? claims 999 watt-hours!
Yeah, I didn’t test that because the video was already too long I felt. Maybe I can make a 2nd video with extra tests. Thanks for watching!
I hate fish-eye or whatever aspect ratio that is. Just shoot things straight.
I’d love to! Got a couple grand to donate for a decent camera body and lens? That’s all I need to fix the complaint! In the meantime, thanks for watching!
Yeah but he said nothing about how much it cost at the present time so therefore I'm not interested goodbye
At the moment it’s still on sale for the same price! Just got to apply my coupon code! Thanks for watching!
No solar panel useless
It does support solar…just not a ton of it! Thanks for watching!
