Welcome to Rob Sandstrom Designs!
I enjoy learning new tools, maker techniques, and software. Once I learn these things well enough I enjoy sharing this information with others that want learn new skills or more efficient ways to make things and inspire them to follow their dreams to make something awesome.
In 2017 I started my "Maker" journey. During this journey I developed a special interest in using "Digital Tools" (CNCs, 3D printers, Lasers, etc.) to help me with my creative efforts. The software and physical knowledge with me was intimidating at first but I dug in and got proficient with the software that runs these tools and the tools themselves. TH-cam content Creators were a go to source to help me learn in my early days and still are. This is one of the reasons I make TH-cam Videos to share how I do things - it's part of my paying it forward.
It's a whole new exciting world with lots to come.

You're doing a fantastic job! Just a quick off-topic question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
Sorry I have no idea about crypto - good luck.

That was a fantastic overview video.. I can’t wait to see the individual videos 🦾🦾
Thnk you for watching and the feedback.
Looks like a lot of fun, glad you had a great time. looking forward to seeing the shops.
Thank you for the comment Dave. I did have a great trip.
Coolest grandpa ever
Thank you. Like many people, I do enjoy doing things for my grandchildren.
I dunno about dragons, but a group of crows is called a murder
I looked it up later and found out there are several named but common name is thunder. You are right for crows ir is a murder of crows.

Thanks Rob.
Articulated prints are a lot of fun looks good
6 years watching woodworking videos and multiple questions with no response... CA glue is just super glue... thanks you sir
@@grimreaperinc8693 you are correct CA glue is a formulation like super glue. It is often used for filling voids and for other techniques in woodworking projects. Not sure what you mean by “watching woodworking videos and multiple questions with no response…”. I do try to respond to most comments and questions. I must realize that there is a question. In this case I only see statements - no questions. But wanted you to know your comment was recognized.
Thanks Rob. Exactly what I was looking for!

I'm a newbi and going in HUGE circles. Last week I purchased the Pro version and installed it on my Win11 desktop. Initially when I opened it I could see the tabs/toolbar on the left and right sides. Today I cannot see any of the tabs/toolbars. Gee whiz, this software has a super steep learning curve!
There certainly is some learning needed. But I'll bet soon you will be mastering things and it will start becoming second nature. Did you get your tabs back yet? If not, go back into the options section and reset defaults and that should bring things back to how the software initially loaded. If you are still having a problem, reach out to me via my contact page one my website and we can get together over Zoom to try and work through your issue. My website is robsandstromdesigns.com
how well have the mats held up to wear and tear? Has it faded much or have the fibers broke off?
In short, you can still read it but it has faded. This was a cheap "season only" mat. You can still read it but it has faded. Wished I could send a picture. If you reach out via my Contact form on my website: robsandstromdesigns.com then I will have your email and I can send you a picture.
I do the same on my msg vacuum top
works well for me but I don't have a vacuum table.
I do much the same, Rob. Normally I wait until I'm going to surface my spoilboard, then glue the dowels in with regular wood glue the night before. Either way, filling the holes with dowel is the way to go.
Works well for me.
That turned out great Rob!
Thank you Kevin. turned it in for the Holiday Gift Sale at a meeting today and they liked it.
great clip rob, could you provide where you got this buffer from?
Glad you liked it. I have the links for all of my epoxy and polishing supplies on my website under the Resources tab at this link: robsandstromdesigns.com/resources/ The specific polisher is at the following link: amzn.to/49WfTyi these are both affiliate links
Enjoyed visiting with you at VUGM in Austin. And just like that was looking for this info on our new machine and there it is. Thanks alot.
It was nice meeting you at the UGM. Glad this video will help you out. That is what I try to do with my videos and it always makes me feel good when I can help someone.
how did you calculate the angle
The angle of the bit is given by the bit manufacturer. It is usually supplied as a side angle. For the Amana 46473 discussed in this video the side angle is 6.2°. So the included angle the Tool database is asking for is 2x6.4° or 12.4°. I hope this helps. Let me know if this is not clear.
very good
Thank you for watching and hope this is helpful.
Do you know any cool bas-reliefs, e.g. with banknotes? I want to make a box for collector's banknotes?
@pps I am not sure what you are looking for. Can you send me a picture of types of bank notes you are looking for? I am on a Road Trip through end of October and only checking email and communications occasional at the moment. But if I get a good understanding of what you are looking for maybe I can find something. Easiest way is probably to send me an email with a picture robsandstromdeisgns@gmail.com
Thank you for your wonderful tip, Good job sir. I hope you can keep teaching us.🤜🤛👍👍👍👍👍👍

thanks for the tip...
hiya catching the replay
Thank you for the support hope there is something in here you can use.
Great video! What kind of black spray paint did you use? Flat, Matt, enamel?
Thank you for the feedback. It was awhile back so the barand may be wrong, but I was using flat balck or satin. Probably rustoleum.
Thank you! Great work!
Glad I found your YT page, you have a lot of great info!! And Ty for hosting Learn Your CNC.
I am glad you found it also. I have spent quite a bit of time putting on topics I hope others find useful. Will be gad to get your feedback.
dish implies food to me, snacks and such. What finish did you use for the kids?
Thank you for asking. I used a mineral oil finish for this dish. For all of my dishes I use a mineral oil or natural finish of mineral oil and beeswax. Most times these days I use a product called Bumblechutes. Here is a link to their products: www.bumblechutes.com/?ref=uelhhmhv 10% Discount Code: ROBSANDSTROM Note it is an affiliate link so I get a small commission and you get a 10% discount if you use this link and the discount code.

Thanks for the comment. This was just a short video, not really instructional. If you want to see the full process and the results you should watch my instructional video on debarking slabs for a river carcuterie serving tray. I actually have. full instructional series that starts with this process. You can find that video at the following link: th-cam.com/video/4BAJnpGk98Y/w-d-xo.html

No worries, Rob. Life is what happens while we're busy making other plans.
Thank you for your continued support Mark
It happens and I would believe we all understand. With that said I do appreciate you coming forward and saying what happened. It shows the type of person you are.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
Seems it hit a high spot. I try to zero off the high spot when I can.
I hear what you are saying. I thought I previously answered this comment so sorry for the dealy. This was the 6th pass so it had already passed over this spot previously. As such I know the CNC was only taking off 2 mm or less. I still don't think a machine as big as the swift should have bogged down on a 2 mm (~0.08") pass. I was using a 2.5" surfacing bit and may have stepped over more aggressively than normal also. In watching the performance of the CNC more over the rest of the job, I noticed there were certain points in the slab that seemed harder for the CNC to deal with, mostly know areas and I may not have been as sensitive to this as a I should have. This was my largest (physically) project and there was lots of learning for both Shane and I.
Rob, What SVG vectorizer do you use?
@@misterx426 i am using vectorizer.ai these days.
Argh! Things happen. If everything went perfect you would not grow as a woodworker, person or in life. I like to call these times ‘learning moments.’ Thanks for sharing
Well said! There is no doubt about that. Catching up with comments and thought I previously replied.
That's not woodworking. That is product manufacturing.
Thank you for taking time to comment. We each have our own thoughts about what wood working is and what it isn't and are entitled to them. I love the ability to create beautiful things that my lack of physical dexterity, knowledge, and skills would otherwise prevent me from doing. I am sure people back in the day didn't think using a router, tablesaw, or other power tool was woodworking either but people have come a long way since then. My wish for you is that you enjoy your woodworking journey, in whatever way brings you pleasure.
Good lil video

you think your shop is a mess? good thing you never saw mine
Hear you brother.
I say I have to clean the garage all the time. Clean one day and three days later I can't find a flat surface . Have a great day!
Isn't that the truth. In my career as a nuclear power professional my beavior would not be tolerated. The requirement was clean as you go. But alas I have fallen to lazier ways these days. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Haha our shops are in the same shape!
I think many people have the same challenge. Its more fun to make than it is to clean.
