rerolling wounds is more effective because a re-rolled hit still has a chance to fail in both the wound roll and the save roll, while a rerolled wound can only fail on the saving throw. If you re-roll hits, Probability of the individual reroll doesn't go up, but the probability of the reroll getting all the way through to do damage IS higher if you reroll a wound. Rerolling a hit means you basically get an additional shot. If that shot hits, it has a 3/6 shot of failing a wound roll and ANOTHER 3/6 shot at failing a saving throw(assuming a slightly higher strength:toughness and a 3+ save) meaning that re-roll has a 9/36, or 1/4 chance to make it all the way to a wound. If you re-roll the wound roll, then that re-roll has a 3:6, or a ½ chance of making it all the way to do damage. Given that if you are shooting a lot of shots then you are likely to miss some wound rolls, then it is always a statistically higher probability of turning a failure into a success if you choose to re roll a wound rather than a hit.

I think the biggest help to me is writing out my phases and under them, what can be done with my army within those phases.

I understand there is probably as much hate for the game, as there is love, generally, but as LOL player, I find there are similarities between LOL and WH40K e.g. Seasons; ability synergies; tactical placement and use of resources e.g. mana points and command points; cooldowns. I understand the "hate" because some community players intentionally try to ruin it for people e.g. trolling, but the game itself is well made. The rank climbing can be punishing, but so can the climb in getting better at 40K. But a game that is challenging, but still fun when losing, is commendable, I feel.

Great list, 3 More points... where 6 and 7 tie in together: 6. Outside of tournaments, leave as many of the 'auto-includes' home or restrict them to 1 (small) unit par 1000 points. So you cannot rely on them carrying you. Keep named characters OUT of your army. If I got a free pot of paint for every ultramarine player I played against that knows how to field BobbyG/Tigurious/MarnusCalgar, but cannot, for the love of the game play with space marines, not a single one of my mini's would be grey anymore... Learn to play your army BEFORE you learn to play your codexes deathstar. 7. On tournaments, aply the oposite. Dare leave some of your beloved 'lore heavy' units home. If the unit is your best painted unit, but sucks at the curent meta ... Shelve the bitch until AFTER the tournament. It is ok to field second or third grade units over better ones, on fights that don't mather. Lucky you, no fight realy mathers, unless it is on a tournament. If you learn the diference between 6 abd 7 and eventualy master this mindset, you WILL make progress, without becoming 'that guy' in regular games. 8. Master 6 and 7 to the point that you learn from your losses OUSIDE of tournaments and learn from your victories everytime. Not the other way around. Get a tournament winning mindset, and on regular games, just play the game for fun, competetive for sure, but fun first and foremost. But once more with feeling... your goal for the few matches that mather ... WIN THEM, nothing more, nothing less. Bonus point: 10 games at 500 points actualy played beat the perfectly planed and sheduled 2k game that (almost) hapened by 10 to ZERO. Always have TWO spare armies of 500 points with you. If your oponent cannot make it and someone else is there, even without an army, REJOYCE! You, got 2 armies and a new partner to the game. Have fun.

Thank you for advices, i am lste probably, but here's a question: If 30 to 30 orks bois fights, is the incoming damage limited by number of model able to fight(in engagement rule) from the defencing side perspective?

I am not a player, but that first mistake sounds stupid. I know it is the rulles but if half of the unit is hidden, for me they are saved from shooting.

The reason your friends are saying rerolling to wound is more effective is because you are looking at it purely from a probability increase and not the actual value increased. In your example on rerolling to hit you've demonstrated that whether you reroll 1's to hit on 4's or reroll 1's to wound on 3's it's a 16.6% increase. However if you are wounding on 3's your reroll gave you 4 extra passing dice instead of 3 extra. Since the probability is always the same we can judge it's effectiveness based on how much extra damage it would provide. Whatever roll already has the greatest probability will net you the greatest increase in damage.

Seems like GW are going to make tenth edition according to your preferences here. I wouldn't be surprised if they end up with rules bloat later on though. Hope springs eternal I guess.

this also gives too much info to the opposing player because realistically how would you know eldar ranges or strategems if you didn't play them before or study. yes it gives a equal playing ground which I like. but it also discourages phycological warfare which is also a very viable option when facing an opponent.

I really really needed the advice you've made in all these videos, I had a little bit of dice math from my understanding of bloodbowl, but contextualizing it into 40k was hard, because I'm not a very mathematical person. On the point of general rules and keywords, it's really funny because it definitely used to exist in 5th ed. There was a few pages in the general rulebook with basically every keyword. Feel no pain, deepstrike, overheat, anti-grav etc... All codice used to not include any of those rules and they were just referenced.
