I dropped off the Cirrus 620 at a campsite on my property for the weekend. I had some stuff I needed to do locally and did not have time to takeoff on another trip this weekend. just like a kid in their backyard. I still wanted to camp.lol I hope you guys have a very wonderful Thanksgiving, and much deserved rest and relaxation. Not to mention all the food. I gotta get my turkey in the brine. Thanks for watching. I appreciate you.

Truck Camping Jubilee College State Park 2.0 Minus the Rain! Cirrus 620

The prior weekend, I went to Jubilee College State Park, and it started raining almost immediately after I got there. I decided I wanted to go back and do an overnight and cook on a fire. And that I did. I stopped by Hy-Vee grocery store and bought a beautiful cut of ribeye. I also got the ingredients to make my green bean and garlic sauté plus some baby portobellos simmered and Merlot. Also gi...

I decided to do the one month review on Cirrus 620 at a park not too far from my home. Jubilee College State Park is a really nice park that I’ve done a few videos on. I’m not gonna spend a lot of time speaking about this Park. I have a few videos that you can watch if you want to learn more about it. I had so a recipe that caught my eye on the Internet a couple weeks ago. It was a creamy Parme...
Truck Camping Lowden State Park in the Cirrus 620. How Tall is this Statue?

Lowden State Park in the Cirrus 620. Lowden State Park is in Oregon Illinois. The park has a 49 foot statue of an Native American commonly associated with chief Blackhawk. Laredo Taft sculpted it in honor of all native Americans, though. The area has a lot of rock formations that are very pleasing to the eye. We also went to Castle rock State Park and toured the overlook. The Cirrus 620 is not...

Old Gas Grill to Wood Fire Range?!
มุมมอง 1214 หลายเดือนก่อน
I had an old propane grill that came with the house. I’m sure it was really nice back when it was brand new. The guts were all rusted out on the inside and I thought about taking it to the dump several times. I have been wanting something that would work on my patio and could be used as a range top that burnt wood. I had exactly what I was wanting after a bag and a half of concrete was mixed an...

This recipe isn’t even a recipe. Just take some chicken thighs and marinade them in a gallon Ziploc baggie with some P.F. Chang’s teriyaki sauce. Thanks for watching!
Lol I know what you was doing!
@@hotboxontherocks whatever do you mean, sir? I believe I was listening to your podcast and drinking a beer.
Hey brother, Im in the camper, been to rock hill, sc KOA, Ft. Jackson, sc. lumberton, FL,, and now in Salisburyt, NC, Just bought a jackery myself. It is awesome! It is a game changer for remote. Safe travels bro!
Although Wish I had gotten the one you have.
Salisbury NC. The home of Cheerwine! There was a nice campground near there called Bass Lake. I stayed there when the children were young. I have a couple smaller Jackary stations that my family got me for Christmas over the last three years. I love them but I always wanted one that could run my house for a day if needed. This one will do that. Thanks for watching!
Also Costco had this on sale for around $2k. That was the lowest I had ever seen for this one. Now Jackary makes a 5K one that is stackable up to 60KW! Safe travels!
You should switch off your converter so that you're only powering the AC power side, like the outlets, air and microwave, otherwise you'll be charging up the 12v battery and spiking your watts. If you want to conserve the house batteries , disconnect the battery and run the converter, that will minimize your power consumption. Keep in mind, it's not very efficient because your converting DC power to AC, back to the camper converter that turns it back to DC. You're basically losing 30% of your battery capacity just converting power
@ thanks for the suggestion! I’m not a very technical person, but that makes sense. Thanks. I will do that. Thanks for watching!
Love this place! Keep on truckin'! 😁
Thanks for watching! I just love how peaceful this place is. I’m headed up to the Hennepin Canal this weekend. Are you still out in the Dakotas?
As my late father in law would say about how to prepare his steak , “With a little tender love and care he would survive “😂
@@linesman71 that’s awesome! Thanks for watching!
Another great video. Thanks for the info on the bike rack. I am thinking about getting this camper. I like the open feel of it and the north south bed. Does the small vent fan work well ?
@@JamesHarries-l5n Thanks for watching James! The fan works great. I believe it’s louder than my Fantastic Fan that was in my Gray Wolf 26DBH though. Since it’s winter time, I’m only using it for an exhaust fan though. I love the North South bed. The windows on both sides allow the breeze to blow across. I always wished they would flop the doors with the windows on my NüCamp Tag XL so I’d have that breeze blowing across my upper body like this one does. The firewood rack on the front is a huge plus for me. I got that idea watching Kenny of All Trades and Work Less Enjoy Life More. Once again I appreciate you watching and the kind words. I’m heading to one the Hennepin Canal Locks next week. No power there. I want to test my Jackary power stations and the Alde heating system running off of propane for the weekend. Have fun.
I agree, zip locks for everything, not just food!
lol. 100%. The perfect camping organizer/storage. Thanks for watching! I appreciate it.
Hey there. Nice truck camper. Lol! How do you access your ratchet straps? Your camper seems really low to the truck bed walls.
@@Brian.A.Simmons Hey Brian! Thanks for watching. I couldn’t think of your name to save my soul last night. I kept thinking Brian Smith. My height and arm length allow me to reach the bed anchor points, before I start to lower it. It is tight but I can get a full grip on the rackets after the camper is fully seated. I’m going to pay attention to see what the gap at your truck bed wall looks like the next time I watch your videos.
The multi colored cat is a Torti (tortoiseshell) colored cat. The Torti, white cats and calico cats are usually always female, a male would be rare. And white cats usually deaf. Wonder if they were dumped because of being pregnant. I have seen cats in our state park also.
@@CherylKearchnerthat’s exactly what it was. A torti. I tried calling for all of them, but they were too feral to come. They all looked healthy so I guess campers were feeding them. I wondered if they belonged to the camp host. Thanks for watching!
Very nice camper and video. I fell asleep while sitting by the fire and had to rewatch, so relaxing and informative. TY.
@ thank you Cheryl for the kind words.
well look like you embrace being a tour guide 😂
@@lancelotthaupe6970 heck yeah!!! I’m doing it right now!
I think the battery is 100 amp, maybe 200 amp? Either way, not enough lithium to power the air conditioner when boondocking. I love the layout, but the reviews online, as far as overall quality, are not very good. I decided to go with the Outpost 6.5 truck camper, which has much more lithium and quality than the 620 at the same price.
@JeremiahHexx thanks for watching! I haven’t heard of the Outpost 6.5. I’ll have to look that up on the interweb. I just replaced the one lead acid battery with two 100ah LiTime batteries. I am glad the solar controller and charger were both set up for either battery type or I wouldn’t have been able to go lithium without some extra money. I went with NüCamp because I already had the Tag XL and love it. The quality so far is good. Time will tell though. Once again, thanks for taking the time to watch this video and adding a comment.
I grew up in Illinois and lived in Peoria from 1989-1993. I was a tech writer at Komatsu-Dresser. I loved going to Jubilee to ride the MTB trails some of the best I've ever ridden. I do not remember it being called Jubilee College SP back then. I also had two friends from Elmwood we were fraternity brothers at Culver-Stockton College in Canton,Mo. I live in North Carolina now but I really miss that area it was so beautiful I also rode the Rock Island rail trail outside of Peoria to Wyoming and back.I did learn the trail can now be accessed from somewhere in Peoria. Any way great video I really need to get back there for a visit!
@@alanosborne1947 thanks for watching! I’m from NC and moved up here about seven years ago. The Rock Island Rail Trail is really nice. Farmdale Reservoir has some really great MTB trails. I haven’t tried of the Jubilee College trails since I camp here mostly in the winter. They close them for deer hunting and snow. I do enjoy riding around the park on my bike. There’s lots of wildlife here. I’m told that Peoria is nothing like it was back when you lived there. Once again, thanks for watching and thanks for commenting. I’m heading up to one of the Hennepin Canal lock sites this weekend. Supposedly that’s a very long bike trail. I’ll throw that video up next Sunday.
Thanks great video -im thinking about getting a cirrus 620- what kind of bike rack is that?does it clear the tailgate step ok ?
@@JamesHarries-l5n Thanks for watching. The rain definitely didn’t make the video as good as it could’ve been. Lol. That bike rack is a KYX brand I bought off of Amazon. I don’t know if I’m allowed to add the link but I guess we will find out. It does clear it but barely when it’s empty and tilted forward. You could always put the dual hitch extender on in a way to make it lower. I’ll show that option in my next video. Do a search for KYX bike crack on Amazon if this link doesn’t work. Once again, thank you so much for watching and commenting! Let me know if you have any other questions. a.co/d/gmQEmqG
much love boss🙏
Thanks for watching!
I love the nucamp 620 because I’m thinking about getting one. Let me ask this question Can you run your AC on battery power? Because living in South Florida you need that AC during the summer months.
Thanks for watching! You cannot run the AC with the factory set up. I’m upgrading to Lithium and I am looking into doing something that would allow me to run the 9200 BTU AC. I will post a video when I figure it out.
Nice campground its funny things close to home you don't get to
@@tims6104 I know what you mean. I try to hit a different place every time I go out and this one is 2 hours from my house. I prefer a little more secluded but those are hard to find in Illinois. I had really nice neighbors this time. I really like Johnson’s Sauk and Jubilee College for their campgrounds. Thanks for watching!
Need to work a bit on sound. Hard to hear you at times, even with volume all the way up. Keep up the great work!
@@ivorywilliams7190 my RODE mics went out. I have to buy a new set. This should be taken care of this week. Thanks for watching. The lighting during the hike was disappointing for me. I’m working on that also.
My new DJI mics came in today. Let me know what you think if you watch my video I will put out this Sunday.
I need to go out there and check that out. Looks beautiful out there.
Very nice places to fish and picnic.
Nice little camper.
@@fatcok68 thanks for watching! It’s really nice.
Thank you for this tour. I love this camper and I am thinking about getting this 620. It’s small, sleek and modern. I can just take a shower outside or set it up inside. It’s a beautiful camper. You can still close your tailgate if you have a 6 and 1/2 ft truck bed. I love it so much! Happy travels!
Thank you for watching! NüCamp does an amazing job designing and building their campers. We also own a Tag XL by them and it has been fantastic. I always wanted a truck camper though. Once again, thank you for watching.
Do you typically leave the camper on the truck? We have a big 44ft toy hauler. Been trying to talk the hubby into one of these for off season or quick trip. We live in western NY and just hit our first harvest host this summer. Would love to be able to take it with us wherever we go!
@@Roughinit good morning and thanks for watching. I just got this a couple weeks ago and I can tell you it doesn’t matter for my F150 rather I leave it on there or take it off. I have done both over the last couple weeks. I drop it when I need to “claim” a campsite. I did add 2500 pound leaf springs to my truck a couple years ago. It barely squats my truck at all. I have a 30 foot tagalong that never leaves my property lol. I would say this is perfect for that quick weekend getaway. My wife and I are loving it.
I’d rather have the fridge next to my bed than over the toilet 🤢
@@almightyblue3744 lol
I Really like the way this is set up. Very well thought out
@@richardharvey216 it has a really great flow. It’s perfect for me and my wife. My 2010 F150 with a 5.4 liter, hauls it very well. I did upgrade my leaf springs to 2500# springs by General Springs a few years ago, so I don’t know what it would do if I still had the factory ones. I have a 6 BDS suspension lift also. My height is 142 inches.
Same thing with propane tanks
without charging the house batteries at all, how long do you get of your battteries? Assuming you are saving on energy? Just curious. Thanks Bro.
I just bought this camper so I don’t know yet. I’m replacing these batteries with lithium. I have to figure out how to do that. I have not had good luck with deep cycle batteries in the past. I’ll let you know once I get the lithium installed. Whatever batteries that are in this one are not holding a charge. In the past I used one 20 pound tank of propane per month in the winter. Sometimes 2 if it was really cold. I was down south though, and not in a four season camper. This one is four seasons, but I’m in central Illinois. We get cold up here.
I ate iguana in Panama when I was in the military
