I found a crack in a 395 cylinder by taking off the lower housing and tapping down the piston as low as it cold go and using compressed air and it forced grey paint water that perfectly matched the cylinder out of the crack that went from top to bottom from the buttress threads to the very top past the outlet fitting in the back.

Replace that cylinder and packing and you are back in business
