Thanks for your videos, I really appreciate it! I have some video ideas and questions. I do some small engine repair stuff and I was wondering what your thoughts are on using a hydrosonic cleaner to clean out the pump? Also, I was wondering if you have a good way to clean out the pickup tube thoroughly. For video ideas I was hoping you could do one giving some advice on what to look for in a used machine or what are key indicators to avoid.? There’s nothing on TH-cam about buying used paint sprayers and I bet you’d get a lot of traffic with that. Another good one would be how to do deep cleaning tear downs/restorations? What tools you find most helpful or useful (other than a hammer😂)? I bought a used ultimate nova 395pc that had supposedly only been used for 4 jobs and really any info you can provide on what to do if someone lends out a machine and it comes back in poor shape; or someone (namely me) buys a sprayer and finds out later that it looks like they’ve sprayed hot mud though it. In my case they demonstrated it with water and it worked fine but then when I got it (395pc) home and tried to spray a ceiling it couldn’t keep pressure up and sounded like someone was whacking it with a hammer with each pump stroke. I cleaned it out after giving up on what I thought was some type of operator error that I couldn’t figure out and when I came back the next day i took the pump apart and cleaned everything out but then I couldn’t get it to prime. When I checked the pickup tube it had rock hard chunks the size of marbles in it :/hopefully those aren’t supposed to be there because I ground through them with a tire iron that fits up there pretty nicely and tried my best to wash them out. Now I want to clean out all the hoses inside and out and replace the packings but I’m not entirely sure what the best way to do it is. Maybe a bore snake? Hydrosonic cleaner in a bag of paint thinner for the smaller hose from the pump to the filter? I’ve been watching a lot of your videos o the last couple days (I have 0 experience with paint sprayers but have a few jobs I need to take care of) and really appreciate all the great info you’ve been providing. Ps. What the hell is the difference between all the 395pc models? Nova, ultra, finishpro, and nowhere can I find any info on differences between them. Even the graco manuals seem to be pretty ‘mums the word’ on the whole deal. Pps. Thanks again :)
A lot to unpack here. First, thank you for watching and the questions. I also like the suggestions on videos. I will work on that. My favorite way to clean parts is lacquer thinner. Soaking most of the parts whole or seperate will remove a vast majority of paints oil or latex. The difference in the 395s isn't that exciting. There really isn't much difference. The names change every so often to designate slight design changes, not much more. Parts are about 95% the same in each. The Finish Pro series has an air compressor attached to create an air assist system for low pressure spraying as well. The actual airless is the same as a standard 395. Some of the name variations are used to identify the vendor. Example, the machines labeled "Ultimate" are build for sale by Sherwin, but they are the same machines as Ultras.
I have a Graco 395st that primes fine and builds pressure to the hose just fine but then 2 minutes later when I try again it won't even prime. I just repacked the pump and can hear the balls rattling around inside so I know they're not stuck. I wacked the inlet tube with a hammer a few times but it didn't help. I'm using a Graco X5 in the meantime until I can get this machine fixed.
After you pull the trigger does the machine begun to run? If so, does it run rapidly or slow? When you release the trigger does it build pressure and stop?
Hi there! I have a 440 Titan paint sprayer that won’t build pressure or seem to prime. We’ve checked all Hoses, gun, wiring inside and balls. Everything seems to be fine. What else could be the issue?
@@Brian_the_repair_guy The last we checked was the balls. After that the sprayer started working again (building pressure). Your video was very helpful! Thank you

I just replaced the seals in my Graco 5900 using your video as a guide. Thank you!

If everything has been checked and no problems seen, then it is time for a repack.
