Very cool ❤
Where do you get the templates ?
Do you have the plans and the 3D files for this prop. This is a great prop.
I have these 3d models I just need to get them online! Each time I go in I realize that it was a complicated print and want to make sure that anyone who purchases the files are not left to the wolves with a folder full of STL's. lol. I will make a point of getting these online as I have had a few people request them. Thanks for watching!
@ Thank you for putting out such great videos.
how did you do the back?
The back can be finished with paint, or a wooden backer board if you are looking for a more permanent good looking solution. Mine just happens to be raw styrofoam still as I hung it on my wall and never took it down again, lol.
It looks great, and the fact it works interests me
Thanks for the appreciation of the working mechanism. It was a daft added function but I wanted to know if it was possible! Thanks for watching :)
Looking for blue prints for the key i dont have a 3d printer but could not see the 3d printer blue prints
I never actually made a 3d printed key, but I had wanted to. If I can find that lock I'll grab the measurements and get the key onto Samhain!
nice work! I need two 7 ft. in diameter portholes and wish I had your craft skills. Hmmm, contemplating the build.. wonder if I can find some large enough sheets of styrofoam..
I love it! I think I have the other gloves you’re missing 😊
Excellent. This is exactly what I was looking for to build a mobile military forge for our Revolutionary War reenactment group. The biggest expense to the project was buying the wheels, but using these plans and adding in the iron tires saves over $1k in costs. Can't wait to get started!
Hello, maybe you could tell me what was the cost of all your materials that you used, in todays value $ ?
Almost impossible to tell you as every single location has different prices on lumber. I really don't think the entire thing would be more than $100 in lumber.
This was so informative and awesome! I'm so glad I googled fake mantel for tv 😅 This was WAY easier and cheaper than what I was planning !(basically a real mantel but a tv stand inside w/storage under.) I may be able to afford this one ❤
I'm glad you find my crazy idea! This fire place is STILL in my living room, the TV has not been on in years, but it has become an awesome plant stand!
Thank you for this! I need to make two lanterns for a photoshoot background. You're amazing.
This looks amazing. Totally going to make it
I may make one and hide a usb battery and charging ports under a swing away plate.
If the dynamite is glued in, you can make this a false bottom box and have the shelf with t he sticks lift out
Hey! Great build. I tried to get the free template file and to purchase the 36” one to support you but I couldn’t finish the payout and couldn’t find your contact us page. Please advise!
Hey Dylan! I'm sorry you ended up having issues with the purchase. contact me at the email address in my TH-cam description and I will see if I can get it sorted for you!
Can I use insulation board (from home depot)?
If it is blue or pink, you are good to go!
@@SamhainPropworks Thank you for your prompt response! Can't wait to give this a go!
Excellent results! 🎉❤ I love the look, I'll do that but how I could stain o paint the shade lighter, like a natural wood color?
Your colour is 100% up to you based on the paints you go with. Experiment on a small piece and have fun!
I understand this is a couple of years old but I was hoping the template was still available?? Link doesn't resolve anymore??
I tried the link and it seems to still work. I have actually seen people download it recently, so I'm confident the link still works. Let me know if you can't sort it out :)
@@SamhainPropworks maybe my VPN is playing havoc - I'll turn it off and try again! thanks for responding
How do you not burn the wood when using the grinder? Or do you sand the grooves after?
If there is any burning, it adds character to the final piece as it becomes shading, and extra aging. The tea stain/vinegar mix brings the wood to a colour that matches any burn marks perfectly!
WOW! That is amazing, nice job.
Thank you! This is one of my favourite props, it just takes up so much room! lol. Thanks for watching!
Awesome, can't wait to try it!
It is a classic prop and one of the easiest to put together. Let me know if you need any help!
Great job!
I’m glad you liked the technique!
Can you paint on it?
I'm sure you can finish it however you want, I'm not sure how it will do with weather cycles though. The best thing to do is test it, and let me know how it works out!
Awesome leaves! What would you use to make the vine outdoor useable?
The masking tape will put up with some outdoor usage, as it already has a bit of a waxy texture to it. A polyurethane coating might make it that much more resilient. If you wanted to really seal it? Grab a tube of clear silicone and gloves and use it to put a thin coat over the whole thing, I have not tried it personally, but if I was going to attempt it, that would be my attempt! lol. Thanks for watching!
DUDE YOUR VIDEO ON THE FLINTLOCK GOT PRIVATED. I was mid project and I don’t have the video to reference:( plz reupload if the video got flagged. Reedit it if you have to follow TH-cam guidelines! I can’t take this suspense 😞😞😞
Please email me and I’ll get you a link! I had to take it down saddly.
Can I ask how thick your foam is and where you normally buy it? New subscriber and I ADORRRRE your videos but I’m a woodworker and am new to the prop scene. My daughter is in live musical theatre so I’ve been trying to learn the ins and outs of prop making that ISNT wood.
Welcome to my little corner of the internet! If you are already a woodworker moving to foam will be so easy, it's like working with the softest wood ever! The foam is 1" XPS Styrofoam, you can buy it in sheets at almost any hardware store (Look at the insulation area). Good luck in your adventures! I love building in wood and you will find a ton of plans and tutorials for wood projects here too.
@@SamhainPropworks Thank you so much for your response! ok that’s what I thought because I use some under my track saw but didn’t know if it was the same thing. Ok so you’re just peeling the layers of paper off to use the foam found in the insulation area of the orange or blue store?
No, the paper covered stuff is more specialized, you should be able to find it in pink and blue just as raw foam. Just check out the sites for those orange and blue stores and search "XPS Rigid Foam Board Insulation". Hopefully that gets you to the right stuff.
@@SamhainPropworks oh wonderful thanks again so much for your response!!!!
Your template keeps coming up as "file not found - go to shop"
I checked the link, and it seems to be working. I have had several people already download the plan from my site. Let me know if you can't get it working and drop me an email.
@@SamhainPropworks It mustn't like Microsoft Edge because it's still saying "file not found-go to shop"
These are amazing! Thanks you so much for sharing. 🎃
Happy to share! I love how they turned out!
I love it! Perfect for a Grimms’ Fairy Tale theme with Jack and the Beanstalk-and a horrifying giant climbing down to terrorize!🙌😄
This vine now lines in the corner of my daughter's room and she loves it! The only problem is she wants more for the rest of the room! Her room will look like the base of the beanstalk before you know it!
@@SamhainPropworks Yes!! Perfect!!😂💫
Dang, dude! These are top shelf! I'm tempted to try these and hit them with my air brush. Very nicely done!
Airbrushing those leaves would definitely make them pop! You have to show me how they turn out if you do that!
Looks great! I may do this when my Audrey 2 twins need some sprucing up.
Audrey 2 needs a friend! How about a giant Venus Flytrap?
Good job!
I had so much fun with this project! I hope you give it a try!
Fantastic
Thank you!
What router bit did you use for the edge?
I used a round over bit, but in reality anything that makes it look fancy will do! Have fun, the only one judging you is too far gone to complain about how their marker looks :) lol
@@SamhainPropworksI think my reply got lost, so trying a second one. Thanks for the info, sir! Second question, if you don’t mind too much. Did you buy the 2” x 6” lumber from the big box store (construction grade) wood? I was looking at Lowe’s and I don’t see anything that looked as nice as they looked in the video.
All my wood working videos are actually templated around using 2x6, 2x4 construction grade wood. It's a gamble always to find decent lumber, especially for projects. I'm the guy hunting through piles of lumber, checking warp, camber and surface to find the perfect boards. I feel your frustration with sometimes lumber being pretty junky.
Boga 💀💀
Is there I way I can purchase the STL (I have a printer of my own and would love to make this) Thanks!
Don't keep the plachaet on the board
Hello, this is amazing and exactly what Ive been looking for, are you still selling these pre-assembled? I would love to commission two from you, I have been looking everywhere and need two I can add a fan to the bottom of with sheer flames and lights
I have 2 of this same spider. Have had them for years as well. After you did this staining, can you still see the belly glow when activated??
The stain does not change the opacity of the material and any amount is tiny. I will admit, that I have not turned on that spider in years, but it lives inside for Halloween and I would most likely punt it into the great outdoors if I had to listen to the "Wooooooo wooooooo woooooo skitter skitter" sound more than 3 times a day! lol
Nicely done. This is on my list!
It looks great!
Oh my gosh! I have been caught several times with a rogue too big staple in the staple gun
This in one of the first times I have had it happen as I use an air nailer and usually when I knock out one size of nails, they all come out. That last one must of had my number! Thanks for watching Cindy!
Do you list the supplies needed anywhere or do i have to skim through the whole video or transcript to note what all is needed?
In the case of this torch the whole thing is built from EVA foam floor mats, I believe it 3/8". The pipe for the arm is sprinkler pipe but you can adapt to use almost anything. I normally don't list materials needed, as I usually state what is needed in the video as I go along, as I completely suggest to watch the whole video as many cases I change my mind on design later in the video from my idea at the start. In many cases, these videos record my first attempt at creating all these props. I may go back in some down time and list the materials needed on each video. Thanks for watching!
Wand-erful!
It was a spellbinding experience, I just had to cast caution to the wind and conjure the strangest thing from my mind! Thanks for watching Voodude!
The lamppost and 3-d printed lamp turned out beautifully!!(👻Boo-tifully!!) And the sun on the trees makes it look like autumn!🍁🍂😄💫
Half the trees in my yard have yellow leaves already! Autumn is here! Now I am hoping winter holds off long enough so I can have a warm Halloween! It's wild to think in 15 days the decorations come out for another spooktacular season!!!
Any chance you might share the .stl files for the screws??
I thought I had! I will go dig up the original design and make sure to add it to the available files on the website! Thanks for catching that :)
Oh…also…we need three 5½ pieces, not 2 as the back of your hand shows 😂. 1 for the top, 1 for the bottom & 1 for the middle. Loving the build!!
Lol! My hand measurements have failed me, but you are correct. I believe in the pdf dimensions file I show the exact pieces needed (I hope). Regardless, thanks for the laugh and I am glad you are enjoying the build!
Check out the Christmas community and their giant lighted trees. They build what's called a "portable hole" for the main support of their trees. That way you can put things out in the yard for the season, then take them back down.
That is a good idea too! The proximity to always might cause some issue with lampposts and signs, but for prop locking in the yard it would be great! The 12' skeleton would love this! Thanks for sharing the idea!
Looks fantastic!
Thanks Cindy! I had started this thing in a very different style. You never know where a prop is going to end up when you just go on a creation adventure! Thanks for watching :)
The thumbnail lmaooo. great video!
Today, the little gremlin inside me won, the thumbnail was the result! lol. Glad you enjoyed the lamppost video!
Had to drop everything I was doing when I saw the surprise-faced ghost. The lamppost looks great, make no bones about it!
The Surprised ghost compels you. Though I am not quite sure why he is so surprised. The lamppost did turn out great, and cheap! I wonder what an entire path lined with them would look like! Thanks for watching :)
