Rhudllan is situated in North East Wales and is a place that we have often driven past while on the way to Rhyl or further up the coast, so we thought it was time we went to check Rhuddlan out, and what a great time we had.

In this Rhuddlan vlog, we start by visiting Rhuddlan Castle, the first of Edward I castles in Wales. We head over to Rhuddlan's St Mary's Church, which was also known as King Edward I's Church. We had a visit to Twthill, the site of the old Norman Motte and Bailey Castle, as well as wandering around the town, taking in some famous landmarks and ending with some great food.

Welcome to the official Postcard & A Pint TH-cam channel.
Postcard & A Pint was thought up by my partner, Rachel & myself, Wills one day while taking our daily 1 hour exercise during the lockdown of 2020. All of a sudden, we were spending more time together, not working 6 or 7 days a week in the arts industry, and binge watching travel programs, and we were actually really enjoying it, and it made us re-evaluate what was important in life for us. Now back to working 6 or 7 days a week again, with very little time off, our happy time is getting out there on our brief times off together and making short travel videos that we are now sharing with you. It's just a bit of fun, and great for our sanity. Your support is hugely appreciated x

A wonderful overview of Rhuddlan, I love the place, ❤. I spent a lot of time playing in that castle when I was a kid, happy memories. I also watched the Levellers their with Izzy and the kids whilst Mike Peters' film ' Weapons of Happiness ' was being filmed, my daughter and I are in the cloud scene at the end for about 1.5 seconds, 😊.
How lovely to not only receive the book and cup, but to get to meet up with like minded people. ❤

It is so true that your videos really shaped one of the best vacations we have ever had. There are so many places such as Rhuddlan that we would love to come back and visit you can be assured that we will be back. North Wales may have just replace Ireland as our favorite place! But, that's also because of the experiences and not just the sights. Our pints in Chester was certainly one of the greatest highlights of of our trip! You live in such a special place in this world. Great video ive lived here 2 years now moved from Rhos on sea love it here not been up to the castle but will do now i go to the nature reserve to keep an eye on mother swan and watch the babies growing

We watched on Sunday but just catching up on the comments. We have seen signs for Ruddlan too driving through, but never stopped. The castle looks fabulous, and not over priced to visit either. Loved the history and research as ever! Loved the little kitty more, so playful! The cute kitties always seem to find you guys! 😻. Nature reserve looked like doggy heaven for walkies, the walker on the bench doesn't look too healthy though😂. Great to see you two back out exploring your beautiful back yard again. Nice recap and how lovely to meet up with friends of the channel, such thoughtful gifts too. Hopefully see you soon guys,

Castle, kings and a curry…. Sold! Spectacular castle Oo and twin towers of power! Great attempt for a first castle before going on to do some pretty impressive ones! Wow straightening out the river sounds a tough job! Omg that cat 🐈⬛ gorgeous! St Mary’s church is nice wow 1200 that has some history! Boo to the rain (bloggers worst nightmare, no where looks good in the rain) well done on returning the week after and being honest about it 😂 tutt hill why does that make me tutt! Will’s the king of the castle! Nice looking cakes from the church ladies! Yay you will be returning for Christmas events! Oo nice bridge 💃 historic and tv famous! What a lovely nature reserve shame it’s next to a dual carriageway but it hasn’t stopped the kingfishers and otters amongst other wildlife! The mysterious banquet house is a rental! I’ve always known Tut Hill as Bonc Hill. No idea why. Been to the Castell many times. I live in Rhyl. Always have , always will. Love the place. Some of the residents I’m not keen on.

"Ridlan" Castle. That sounds about right! BTW, it's no longer Wales-it's Cymru. Scotland is Caledonia, Ireland is Hibernia, and England is Albion. Common law will return. The UK Corporation was declared bankrupt in 2021. I heard decades ago that the stones from the bottom of those drum towers at Rhuddlan Castle were taken away to build the nearby houses. 10/10 for the video. Thanks!

Why are some castles crumbling and others look as good as the year they were built? Is it because of battle scars or just inferior masonry?
I think when Cadw or the National trust get them, they preserve what they have rather than try to rebuild. Come of the castles got sold to family's and became homes, so got added onto and modernised. We've just been to one today where exactly that happened. Cheers 🍻
Typical Welsh people. You have so many castles around that you never bother to go visit this one which is within 30 minutes of your home!
