    Building this kit is a disaster. Pocher should be deeply ashamed launching such bad quality.

    Hello, Just a suggestion. Instead of drilling out the holes in the die-cast parts, I dip the screws needed into oil and then screw them into the pieces that need to be joined. This makes the pieces more secure and makes the joined pieces more tighter.

      Hi and thanks for watching. I agree just oiling the screw works most of the time, but unfortunately I've had a few screws break and it's a pain to drill out the broken screw. Certain Pocher screw styles are notoriously weak. So while it's time consuming, I tap almost all the holes for that extra insurance. 😊

    I agree with @rushman, I would prefer more voiceover. Little tips as you are progressing. Like at the 3:00 mark, I assume that's just a paddle pop stick with masking tape folded sticky side out, to hold the part. Sometimes it is not suitable to use Blu-Tack. Cheers🥰

    I didn't find fitting the steering rack particularly difficult after I loosened the screws holding the steering column and pinion, but oh those ripping slipping fang dang little springs! They boinged all over the place and I was lucky not to lose one or more. I was sorely tempted just to glue the pedals in place, but I persevered and got there eventually. I think I did the steering ensemble correctly, but it's rather stiff and I wouldn't like to force it. Just as well it will be a static model in its display case and never touched again.

  • @Gynra
    @Gynra 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I'm currently half way (approx) through the Lotus 72D, with the help of your excellent videos. I am a bit tempted by the Lamborghini but there seems to be an awful lot of plastic for a kit that costs so much. On the other hand, some definite modelling skills will be required to turn that plasticky-looking interior to something resembling the real car, so that would be a challenge I would relish. I just hope the instructions are better than those of the Lotus, which require much head scratching and more than a few choice words. The current kit (as of June 2024) is yellow, which doesn't much appeal to me, though.

    • @splashbakermodelbuilding
      @splashbakermodelbuilding 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there: Pocher instructions are the worst, every kit I've ever done, tbh. It's super frustrating given the price. I completed the Aventador in orange and had mixed emotions about it (the quality of the kit that is). I agree, a lot of plastic, but I actually worked that to my advantage and painted/airbrushed almost every plastic part which was a big improvement. Pocher often includes pre-colored parts without removing the mold lines and I'm reluctant to mess with those. For the Aventador specifically, so many details were missing from the kit and so I went all out and did has much detail as possible. Scratch built parts, carpet, wired, plumbed, etc... Probably my most detailed build; and I think it was worth the time and effort, but perhaps not the cost of the kit. Hope you are enjoying your Lotus build, will look great once complete and thanks for watching! Happy Modeling!

    As I'm building the Lotus, I find these videos so helpful. I think it's inexcusable that Pocher supply those flat abominations masquerading as braided hoses in a £750 kit. Luckily aftermarket (three-dimensional) braided hoses are available from Tamiya. I used the 2 mm size as a substitute for the BC-2 kit part, and 2.6 mm for BC-1. It looks a whole lot better. Edit: I take it back (somewhat). The kit-supplied braided hoses can be opened out by something long and thin, but nowhere does it mention this. The handle of one of those clamps-on-a-stick used for airbrushing will do the job.

      @@splashbakermodelbuilding The staining on the side panels (parts DCA 5 & 7) appear to be from the oily plastic they are wrapped in. Mine were similarly afflicted, and I thought this unreasonable in such an expensive kit, so I brought the matter to the attention of Hornby Customer Services. They arranged for replacement parts to be sent to me but these were similarly marked. I complained once more and Hornby send me further replacement parts which had been inspected before despatch. I received them today and they are pristine. I was impressed with the service I got, but it did delay my progress on the kit by over a month. While I was waiting, as I was in possession of a couple of spare side panels, I experimented with them. The staining can be eliminated by over spraying with clear enamel and then giving the parts a good polish. It's not quite as good as the replacement parts I eventually received, but it's pretty good. I have also obtained detailed instructions by way of a download purchased on eBay, which goes through the assembly step by step and corrects any mistakes in the Pocher instructions. It also can be purchased with a set of parts for super detailing the kit. I am waiting for mine to be delivered and although I have progressed quite far in the build, I'm sure I will be able to use a lot of the parts to improve my model.

      @@splashbakermodelbuilding Yeah I just purchased one from Hong Kong seller US$560 + $130 shipping just to good of a deal. So I expect to get it in about 1 1/2 weeks time. I started out looking at the Tamiya 1:12 scale 72D then moved and thought about the Agora Lambo Miura but the panels looked a bit off so I decided that might get corrected with a couple of production runs so I would hold off. Then watching your build I was like yeah that is the one. Have you done a Agora model build yet?

    Hi a couple months ago I came across your videos on building the 1/8 scale Pocher F1 Lotus and the more I kept watching them I started looking to see where I could get a good price on this particular model and I finally found it on Amazon , so I bit the bullet and purchase this model , at first I was a little hesitant because of the price but now since I received a model I can clearly see why this model cost so much , the detail in the craftsmanship and everything about this model is so incredible even the paintwork is outstanding , it's exactly what I would compare to a professional paint job that you would find on a real car , really like about your videos is you also include the tools that you used for the build such as the taps to pre-tap all your holes prior to using the screws , because that is something I would've never thought of , and I am really glad to see the technique that you used them out the tires onto the rams , because I noticed right away that the tires alone are not a soft compound or a soft material that you normally find in models , but instead it's a very hard compound or some kind of material but watching your video on how you did it by using the hairdryer is a great technique that once again I would've never thought of that , and even though I am 68 years old I have been building models since as a little kid and to this day I still enjoy building models and even though all of these years I am always still learning new things new techniques which also makes this hobby so thrilling and enjoyable , but I would like to say thank you so much for taking the time and billing a video such as this one to help people through the build process , but in the end the price for this model is definitely well worth it and I cannot wait to start my build , once again thank you from Charlie

      Hi and thank you for the nice note! I hope you enjoy your build. Most of my modeling has been WWII military, but have been branching out to cars and motorcycles. Another method I have used to soften the tires for mounting is to soak them in fairly hot water for 4-5 minutes until they are pliable and easier to work with. Obviously the hair dryer method works too. I was surprised how rock hard the tires were! I personally think Pocher should supply the taps rather than the tiny screwdriver that is useless. Some of their screws are very weak so tapping and/or oil really helps. I did have one screw break off in the part and was quite the pain to remove!

      Hey there! Oh yes, I'm getting ready to get back to it. I can't believe it's suddenly February! Thanks for checking. I'm trying to decide if I should finish this GT first or the YZR and I have a pile of Tamiya kits waiting their turn! 😉

    It's a bit late in the game but the lines to the injectors should come out from under the fuel rail (the two silver plates that the injectors mount to). The instructions, even revised, are a joke. The kit overall is not worth the money. Overall, a lesson in frustration.

      Hi: Yep; I realized my mistake soon after... 😔 I have done several Pocher kits and they all have awful instructions. Someone mentioned it was a breakdown between the master builder and the technical writer, not sure, but they are embarrassingly bad! Ok, that was my rant for the day! 🤐 Thanks for watching and sharing feedback.

      Hi: I was very disappointed that their latest Lambo kit was pretty much the same kit as before, just a different color. If nothing else, they could have added the many things the kit lacks. I would like to see the Terzo or the SIÁN maybe... Thanks for watching!

      II can't wait until March or April... Then my Roadster will arrive with the new SVJ trans kit. only 35 kits are made by Tommaso from WordPress, so you can completely convert your Pocher Aventador into an SVJ with all the other high-quality details that come with the trans kit.

    Hi! I see that you are using a spray. It’s some glue spray or something like that ?

    • @splashbakermodelbuilding
      @splashbakermodelbuilding 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi: I use BSI CA glue and the spray is BSI Insta-Set which instantly cures the CA glue when sprayed on. The overspray is easily wiped off, but also evaporates pretty quicky. Thanks for watching!

    Hello Splash, Great series of videos, I found them to be a terrific help. Did you forget to mount the wee flags on the body? Old buffers like me call these "transfers" but you probably refer to them as "decals". Best Wishes from Bonnie Scotland. Colin.

    • @splashbakermodelbuilding
      @splashbakermodelbuilding 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi: Good screwdrivers and a tap set is really all you need. Tapping the holes first really makes it a difference although it is time consuming. I used to skip the tapping and just use a little oil until I had a screw break off, some of the screws are quite fragile and it's a pain to rectify.
