I've always enjoyed the story about Conrad - I've heard it done by Johnny Cash and I believe Dolly Parton. This year is the first time I've heard Grandpa telling it.

Foxfur mentioned John Schneider. Tom Wopat also performed. Although, I believe both of these guys were actors first before getting into musci. Tricia Yearwood had a recurring role in JAG.

I don't really care for the "new country". I was raised on Johnny, Loretta Lynn, Eddie Arnold, Statler Bros, Sons of the Pioneers, Lynn Anderson, etc.

I love listening to Johnny Cash and the Statlers! I recently discovered the 2nd generation of Statlers - Willson Fairchild. They did a tribute song to their dads.

Anyone else shocked that Friends in Low Places took a third video to be listed ? Even people who can’t stand country know and love the song! Country is at least 1/3 drinking songs! A 4th is definitely warranted! “Wine into Water” comes to mind as another ahem sobering drinking song.
