Thank you, Kevin, for this episode. I'm the wife & mother of veterans - My husband served in Vietnam in the Army and my son served in the USN from 2010 to 2018.
USAF Military Brat here! My dad, Maj L.D. Mathias, was a navigator on C-130 and C-5 (which he wrote the training manuals for). Thank you to all of our present serving and to those that have retired or are deceased.
Thank you for putting this episode together. By far this is my most favorite one since I've been subscribed to this channel. I'm not a veteran but they will always have a place in my heart. I have cousins who served in the Army & the Marines & were deployed to Iraq & Afghanistan in the 2000s. I'm also married to a Veteran. My wife is an Army brat but her service was very brief due to her asthma & wound up being medically discharged

Another veteran is Leroy Van Dyke who wrote "The Auctioneer" while stationed in Korea during the Korean War. A number of country performers from the 1950's served during World War 2, including Carl Smith, Webb Pierce, Jack Anglin, Merle Travis, Ernie Ford, and many others.
Great content but you forgot one that would be Ray Price who was a Marine during WW2 no disrespect intended and thank you and all vets past and present for your service!!!!
Today is 11/08/2024 I feel it appropriate to mention Big and Rich's song "The 8th of November" And the Music Video for it, has a foreword by Kris Kristofferson
Don't forget the various military bands that have country music groups, such as the Navy Band's Country Current. Bill Emerson, formerly with the Country Gentlemen, served as a member of Country Current for a number of years. These military country groups are fantastic! (th-cam.com/video/IHSPcm0aAhA/w-d-xo.html)
Other non musicians of note who have served The voice of Disney's Bambi Donnie Dunagan Captain Kangaroo Bob Keeshan Willard Scott aka the first Ronald McDonald And Bob Ross who was a drill sergeant and swore to never raise his voice again after leaving the airforce. God Bless them all
Very interesting! I admire anyone that is loyal to their country, especially if they are willing to defend it. Please don't invade Canada.... I think Conway was the one that really surprised me. Love his music, but when I saw him in concert, let's just say the show started late and he sat on a stool and sort of fell off of it as he stated to sing Hello Darlin' so that's all I could see in my mind when you showed him. No shade - some of the greats have worked hard and ended up in a less than impressive state.
I had no country stars that were in the coast guard on this episode. I may do this again next year and if there is a country star that was in the coast guard I will include them.
Gene demanded he be given front line service. The army wanted to him stateside because he was so famous if anything were to happen to him it would be a big deal. But in true cowboy spirit, he demanded front line assignment. So he flew cargo planes from Burma to China over the Himalayan Mountains, which was a very dangerous route. It was called “flying the hump”. Gene Autry was a true American hero.
Thank you, Kevin, for this episode. I'm the wife & mother of veterans - My husband served in Vietnam in the Army and my son served in the USN from 2010 to 2018.
We thank them for their service!!!!!
Not a vet myself, but the son of a vet and Purple Heart recipient (Korean War, 1952). Salute, Kevin! Thanks for your service, and these videos!

Did not know that about Johnny Cash. Thank you to all our veterans.
We owe them so much. In today's world they are often forgotten, especially by folks in DC.
I don't know if Charlie Daniels or Toby Keith have served but they were definitely huge supporters of our U.S. Military men & women
I don't think they did but they sure supported our troops!
I served in the Navy from 1966 to 1970 , 2 1/2 years on a destroyer escort out of Pearl Harbor and one year in Vietnam on river patrol boats
Thank you sir for your service!!!!!!!!
Doyle and Teddy Wilburn were both in the Army at the same time, in the early 1950’s during the Korean War.
Bobby Osborne served in the Marines
Elvis? Country music HOF, sold over a billion records worldwide! Also Rock, Gospel, R&B, Hillbilly HOFs!
Elvis was mainly rock even though his stuff sounds more country nowadays. If he would have lived longer he probably would have been a country star.
@ he made a lot of country songs and gospel, that’s why he is in both of those HOFs!
my maternal uncles served as did i, U.S. Army i was stationed at Ft Ord Cali then served in Germany
Thank you sir for your service!
@@CountryMusicTimeMachine youre welcome

Thanks for your service sir! I'm MC of a Marine Ball tonight!
Army is always #1..
Elvis Presley was in the military.
Yes he was but even though Elvis sounds more country now than many country signers do, he was the King of Rock and Roll!
Go army
How about boxcar willie Air Force veteran 1949 to 1976

I interviewed Conway before a show and a little while later he passed away.
How about putting the Coast Guard emblem?
I had no country stars that were in the coast guard on this episode. I may do this again next year and if there is a country star that was in the coast guard I will include them.
Why didn’t you salute Willie? He’s one of the best along with Johnny Cash.
I did. Just before Craig Morgan. I might have forgotten to salute. But I did mention him, Air Force for a little while.
I thought geene Audrey was in the army can anyone tell me if I am wrong
It was the Army Air Force when Gene was in. A separate Air Force wasn’t created until 1947.
He was in the Army Air Corps.
