It is constantly changing on both the customer & the work side. We're often left to fend for ourselves with no one to talk to or help. We operate under the idea that "a rising tide lifts all boats." Together we can help each other become successful while giving great service to our customers, providing great employment for our teams, and a great life for ourselves and our families.

David IS a robot
love yalls content! I'm just starting my own shop coming from managing a local shop. I started small with just myself and got an experienced manager/writer to take calls and run the back end for me and am about to hire on a tech. I'd appreciate a change to chat with yall on starting a barebones operation from ground up with basically nothing to start with except a wall full of tools, a lift, and a broken body trying to make it last until I can afford a tech. from the episodes ive watched yall seem to mostly be talking about starting shops that seem more spun up from the start. I'm looking for the I'm pissing with what nature gave me type of approach trying to be the change that needs to happen in the industry
Flat rate is a way to pay skilled labor less until you make your employer a large amount of money and then they will pay you what you are worth. No other industries do this that I know of, other countries don't do this that I know of. Flat rate is a convoluted scam to pay less for hard skilled labor.
Title should be Two "know-it-alls" react to wheel alignment scam
I don't know that we know it "all", but we do know a lot! 😁
That’s not called doing things to get feee auto repair. It’s called hooking. If she tried to sell herself to the mechanic. …. When I had a shop this woman and her feminine husband broke the timing belt on a 1999 Passat 1.8t 20v They came in at the end of the day. And the husband told the wife to go in alone and try to seduce me for discount. Lol Didn’t do it. But they found the $$$ next week. Took care of that car for years after. Gave mean ego boost I guess. Thrill. Something lol
I GET FREE WORK DONE ALL THE TIME BECAUSE I DO IT MYSELF. I SAVE MONEY AND LEARN AS I GO.
The problem is that you don't know what you don't know. Vehicles have become incredibly difficult to repair. So while you think the vehicle is repaired, that may not be the case.
I love you guys!! This channel is amazing!!
These people/beggars usually have a bunch of tattoos. I don’t do free work for people that go through life making poor choices.
Usually have 3 baby daddies and collect child support from all of them.
I tried Shopware but left and went back to Tek metric after a month or so. Thats not a fault of you guys for recommending it. It just didn't work for me that's all. Your podcast brings so much to the table. Thank you for all the Insite on the industry. It is much appreciated.
Dont take those ladder bar Xanax man! Had horrible anxiety in my early 20s and was prescribed them. It definitely took the anxiety away but I lost 6 months of my life. I legitimately can't remember much of anything during the 6 months I took them.
Helpful 😊
I'm glad!
back woods person you can pay with meth... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Flat Rate Is Theft
Can you recommend any radio automotive repair shows that you can call in with mechanical problems on the show? I used to listen online to a couple of really good ones in Texas. As a DYI mechanic they were invaluable for me.
I feel like that isn’t a feasible show long term. Giving advice over the internet/ phone can be very difficult considering you aren’t there in person you can’t be certain that tests were preformed correctly. False test results can and will lead to misdiagnosed cars and potentially dangerous situations. Especially since not all diyers are created equally. You have guys who are borderline master techs who only fix their own vehicles or you have guys who claim to know every thing and hook up jumper cables backwards in the grocery store parking lot.
@@Austinadcock ill second that. My over the phone goto is I need to see it and get our eyes on it to verify the problem as well as the repair afterwards and also to make sure we're not spending your money on parts your vehicle doesn't need. theres almost nothing anymore that can be resolved over the phone/internet. There is a reason the TAC/ techline at dealerships has such an extensive list of tests and results they look for before they even talk to you about the problem. There's a reason those are minimum 4 hour phone calls on average ( in my experience with direct level 3 support through gm)
Somewhere along the line, the industry surrendered their souls to the client, meaning the experts are being led by the uneducated, know your worth,
💯

5:15 so I’m a master tech thinking of starting my own shop. You said 180 to 460 is a proper markup for parts. Is 150% markup really proper? That seems crazy excessive but I’m also the novice in the situation.

Now they won’t do warranty claims because someone went 80mph in a GR86.
I really have to stop listening to the last 5.....maybe 60 minutes. But it's like watching a trainwreck, with alligators and mac n cheese.

There’s an Auto shop In my town for sale with all the equipment, tools & both lifts for $42k. Has 2 workshop bays, customer lounge & 6 car garage in the back. Good deal?
Does it come with the property?
@ yea all of it.
@@MccormickAutos Hell yes then. 😂 Do you have the cash for it? Talk to the Institute about reviewing their books and potential.
How do you run the ppl who have flats off?
I'm not trying to run anyone off, but my schedule dictates what we take, when we take it. Sometimes that's not convenient for the tire repair crew. We usually tell them it has to be dropped off, most say "gotta have it now" to which we make a recommendation to another shop!
Wow
Why is the text covering his lips, its still very obvious what is being said and his lip movements do not match at all. Very fake.

You wouldn’t understand scanner danner unless you understand basics. It’s better to go to school. If you really want to learn.
I 100% disagree! His premium channel and book take you from the basics and walk you through it. Now is it teaching you mechanical aptitude? No! But school won't do that either.
@@ChangingTheIndustry Last time I watched scannerDamner’s videos he was teaching at school. I highly recommend his online subscription his course is #1. But not everyone can start from his course.
Know I’m late since this is a year old, but “dreams and aspirations “ 😂
Theyre coming to the table because they know it'll happen. Just like with aftertreatment systems. The companies pushed against its implementation until the last second. They were already installing the systems into the vehicles before it got legislated.
