Why would anyone want to do this? Black mage is the weakest character?

Not going to lie. This was the hardest thing to watch. I only finished it because i wasn't going to leave one video unwatched. Lol. It triggered me not knowing where gear, items, and statuses were at. Probably won't watch another one unless you figure out how to run a non modded version in tandem. Lol. Great job though!

This was really cool. When the title just said "no text" I thought it doesn't sound interesting or that challenging. Luckly I watch every one of shane's videos. This wasnt just no text. It was no text AND no icons. Normally I just watch these videos to fall asleep to, but this one was one to watch while awake. I think "semi-blind" for the title could get more viewers. If you do decide to do this run again and make even more things invisible though, I would caution you not to remove things needed to keep it fun to watch. Not sure what that might be, but i cringed at the idea of there not being a cursor. But I will watch either way, keep it up!

if only the crown was like the one in Vampire Survivors and gave you an experience boost lol

0:41 Mission failed. That building says "INN" j/k, this was a badass run! I've thought about trying to play a Japanese copy of FFIV. I've finished that game dozens of times. I could probably recite the storyline, but spells and weapons/items would be a pain...

This was one of the more interesting challenges I think you've done. I really like the runs where you use the whole party (like the "as intended" run) rather than power leveling up a few toons to carry the team. But I guess that's necessary in a speedrun format.

And then it would have been the "Final Fantasy" instead of 30 games later. #Squaresoft But imagine being born in Iran to a wealthy Iranian family and you got to skip out on suffering/death in Iran during the revolution and instead you got a free pass to the United States to study computer science. But you're also somehow friends with Doug Carlston the owner of Broderbund(Don't start if you're not a child of the 80's/90's). But Doug Carlston also happens to know people at Square? And, the founder and president of Square at the time was also named Miyamoto. What are the odds of that? Along with Hironobu Sakaguchi being a fanboy of yours. #simulation #Nasir Anyway, you're not doing this run if Nasir didn't have to program this game on a cocaine binge in 3 weeks back in 1986. Which is great. You're a baller. And still shorter than your 4 Knight run.

You were wise to drop out of wow after tbc. It was downhill after wotlk

I really like the idea of a “fewest menu openings” run, though I think the select menu should be allowed. But that’s just me.

I wanted to do this with a hyper focus on classes (fighter melee, bm nukes, wm heals, etc) but that seemed too boring. Was thinking I'd do reverse roles though - fighter only heals, bm only melee etc. Didn't really think about a team of reds with a focus on one thing though.😅

~2:02 -- "we can ignore his one point of damage!" -- NO! The run is ALREADY invalidated! You need to do it again! 😜(Just joking -- I don't think the one point of damage from Dan's fists of fury meant anything when you had harm doing like 30 points of damage)

I had the idea to do something similar to this on my last run, but forgot that the Defense sword requires job advancement. I ended up with the Sun Sword and Light Axe on my two Fighters, with a Red Mage for buffing, and a White Mage for sustain. Now after watching a bit of this video I decided to start my own version of this run and sort of play along!

~3:53:00 -- I'm ALSO in the proud solo thief completion tier, and on PR no less. Issue is I had to grind all of vit, str, and agility every single level till i could beat chaos, at level cap (think it's 50 for PR), issue is I had to spam stats items to get the solo theif through. I'm assuming your NES run probably went better (probably attributable to your greater familiarity with challange runs, hopefully :) )

~21:00 -- I was going to recommend the peninsula grind then remembered that you are stuck with 'chucks until the end of the game so I quietly Homer Simpson Gif-ed instead of posting that recommendation (luckily as that would have looked dumb on my end ;-p )

I found your channel and have been just binging watching all the FF1. Its one of my favorite games and I love seeing the original played.

Proof that you don't need to grind

~16:02 -- "maybe I should fight sharks instead?" Not sure if your level 2-3 bare handed fighters could have pulled it, but you might have been able to manipulate fights with kyozu (buccanners in Pixel Ramstered), those would give a LOT of money early on (almost as much as the Ogres). Issue is that they are tough initially -- probably less tough then a shark, but still maybe too much for the party.

Can this "credits warp" trick be done on the U.S. version of the game? And if so, how?

How does this glitch work?

Would you make a video or even play a mod of FF1 with additional/pallet swapped weapons that have the same stats as other weapons, or are about the same? More daggers, axes, hammers, staves that follow progression like the swords of the game etc?
