      Thanks bro. You rate the new fr 541 rims?

    • @captaincrazymofo
      @captaincrazymofo ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mtbtelly5522 yeah I have a 29er set built up and they have so far been solid as, and 27.5 rims currently on back order, that I'll be putting together, due date is 1/5 for those. Also no complaints from any customers yet either with their 541's, so yeah seem like the choice at the moment!

  • @brassmnky33
    @brassmnky33 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I was thinking the other day about 27.5 vs 29 in the rear and I realized something people don’t talk about. 29 has better rollover but 27.5 has more of a rearward axel path. It’s effectively a higher pivot than 29 because the rear axel is lower.

    • @mtbtelly5522
      @mtbtelly5522  ปีที่แล้ว

      Its a valid consideration. Ain’t nobody got time for 29 out back

    When you'll be picing up the new rim for the backend, check out FR 541. It's replacement for FR 560 with lighter weight and supposedly it's even stronger. Recently there were some stock issues but if you wait a few days you should be able to pick it up. Cheers!

      My friend has just cracked his 541, and it had a decent flat spot in another part from a hit that wasn’t very big. He might’ve just got a dodgy build, but I’m gonna hold off on that for now

      @vojtechvidra2457 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mtbtelly5522 that's funny because just last week my 541 went out of whack thanks to some rather large branches going into the spokes (2mm straight gauge). I still hope it'll be solid wheel for the season but I'm a bit less optimistic now.

    Love it man! Nice to see you getting blessed from your viewers. You are one of the very few guys on YT who deserve that. Your shit is always genuine and you tell it like it is. Stoked for you on your new steed too! Hows the braking on the steeper bits?? Does she stay active or does it stiffen up a bit? My Hightower V2 is a great bike but using the rear brake anywhere on rough bits of trail feels like im riding a hardtail.. Not fun when your going down steep and rough ass chutes. Lastly, do you like the float X as well as your Super Deluxe's (not thru-shaft)

    • @mtbtelly5522
      @mtbtelly5522  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey mate, thankyou 🙏
      With the rear set up right it floats over bumps under brakes. If I run it a touch stiff its a bit harsh but not unlike anything else that I’ve noticed. I’m gonna set it up as a mullet this weekend and see how it rides in that configuration, but so far the full 29 setup feels excellent

    • @mtbtelly5522
      @mtbtelly5522  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m very impressed with this Float X. Its as good as my best experiences with superdeluxes over time. I’m not sure the coil setup is going to work out on this design, so the air shock will likely stay. Its very good so far

    • @mtbtelly5522
      @mtbtelly5522  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Like any shock, if you run the spring too stiff its rough, if you run it too soft its low and slow. But when you’re on the monry its smooth

    • @mtbtelly5522

    Hey mate with the cranks… I’m on 170’s at the moment apart from the extra clearance are there any other benefits from running 165’s? And also do you notice more pedal kickback running 30t chainring opposed to 32t?? Cheers

    • @mtbtelly5522
      @mtbtelly5522  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m not sure about the pedal kickback, but there definitely may be something to that. I’ll do the switch and see if I notice anything, because I think it may have increased with the swap.
      165 cranks keep your feet closer together making manouvres on the bike easier, switching through lefts and rights is a touch easier, as your knees stay closer together vertically when dropping the outside pedal down

      @@notsoenduro definitely worth it. Now I’m on the 165 I have more clearance so less chance of catching a pedal and crashing, feels better sprinting off a corner, better for standing sprints as it keeps the legs at a better angle for producing power, so less knee issues as well. For me its an absolute win win. I’ve found no benefit for myself running longer cranks on the mtb, maybe its better for the commute, sitting and spinning on the road, but even then I feel I can put out power more comfortably with the shorter crank in terms of leg/knee comfort
