Great tip and demo at 9:00!
Hello, I recently bought a pedal drive with the 8ball steering well. A pin inside the 8 ball is bended in an “s” shape. Do you know the dimensions of the pin and where I can buy it?
Can you explain the shear pin conversion? Do you just drill out the shear pin hole to a larger bore? Thank you.
Mine hasn't ever worked right. The cord that you pull doesn't seem to actually engage or disengage the chair...I can feel it trying to but it just doesn't. Any tips or ideas on what to do to possibly fix this issue??? Much appreciated
Love the video and walk through! I just got my moken 10v2 and can’t wait to get it on the water. Thanks for the video.
So all being said. Should we not buy a feelfree?
problem with that is NO Livewell ...
Looks like work!
👍
Looked like quite a bit of water in the kayak.
Great Review! Thank you! Looking for info/opinions: So, 3 of us are getting our firsr yaks next year. All in our 50s. One has been selected - FF Moken 10.5 for a female friend of mine The other 2 will be for big boys. 6 foot 300 and 6-2 325. 85% of the time will be for rec use on flat calm water w minimal current if any. The other 15% - maybe some stationary fishing - anchored. We want paddle yaks only. Since we need minimum #500 capacity, and reviewed every single yak made, here was our original cut down list: The Lure 13.5 V2 Old Town Sportsman Vanhunks Elite Pro Angler Vibe Sea Ghost 130 Now down to: The Lure and the Sea Ghost After taking hull, seat, and user weight and subtracting it from the max, the Sea Ghost had a lot more usable weight remaing. That being said, take me for example -with the Lure Id have #65 pounds left to reach capacity. Usually id just have a drink cooler, beach towel, and some misc - say a total of #20 And if fishing maybe #30. Will I be stable leisurely paddling, sitting and fishing, just normal yak usage? Or will I be at the water line? We'll be on no rough water, no batteries and alike. Just simple use but need fishing yak for weight. Which would you choose and why? I spec'd everything out that you can but it's gonna be in the 20s next week and trying them anytime soon is not an option....for like 4 or 5 months. Any and all info greatly appreciated. Thanks again for the great review and happy paddling. 😂
I really appreciate your detailed videos. I just bought my Feelfree Lure 11.5 , and this really gives me insight on what to do. Thanks.
What cart would you recommend for a lure 13 5 right now I have a Malone Traverse that I use on others kayaks I own but looking to upgrade do you have any recommendations thanks
Watching this 5 years later, you guys are diehards to get out there in that temps. You guys still using the 11.5 with overdrive all these years later? Holding up well?
When it come to boats(all boats from small craft to yachts) it’s trade offs. More stability and room usually means slower and less maneuverability. Or you can pay a truckload of money and get a little more of everything but still fall a bit short.
Thanks for the info... Glad you didn't hurt yourself despite your dangerous knife-work form.
Ridiculous to be sitting that high in any kayak...
Why have you tried it??
Can i add 8 ball steering to this kayak
Just picked one up lovely kayak but why they never added any hatches is mental also any rod holder you attach to the track your constantly hitting legs on it
Where did u get a case for that
That 250 capacity is a deal breaker since I am 230. I guess I am back to the Hobie Passport 12R. $1999 with a 400 lb capacity
I'm torn between the 12.5 and the 10. Its my first kayak, and I want something that is first and foremost a good recreational paddle boat for messing around on lakes, ponds... easy stuff. Id be with wife and kids. They would have their own kayaks. But, I'd also like options to fish if and when I wanted too. In your opinion... moken 10 or 12.5 for a newbie?
I'm in Hawaii does it have outrigger system?
Just picked up a 11.5 lure overdrive new from the factory. Having a really difficult time getting the prop fin to clear the back of hull opening while deploying and lifting the unit. Any suggestions on how to get it to clear properly.. really frustrating, I don't want to take any plastic off the hull either for clearance. Thanks!
Any idea why mines don't adjust the drive up and down?
Great video.. just bought this boat with the overdrive. How do you secure the gravity seat to the hull? The front bar on the frame for the gravity seat sits loose on the deck, and if you lean back the seat wants to lift/fall backwards. Super annoying. Any suggestions you have for the rudder would be great too.. kinda tough getting the 8ball centered and the tension just right in the cables.
Man I love your video. I know I'm about 2 years ahead but I just purchased a Mokin v2 and added the Beavertail rudder system, among with other upgrades. Once I added the rudder system it became my "go to" boat because like you, I have a 6 foot bed on my truck. I also have a HooDoo Stingray, that is 13 feet long, that I have to use a padded bed extender and it's setup with a Watersnake. I use it for long watertrips. For the money and easy loading, Love my Mokin!!
👍
I'm digging my FF Lure v2 with pedal. I've been on the water around 8 times so far. The pedaling has gotten better, but i've noticed a rapid clicking noise as i pedal. I haven't investigated yet but wonder if you've got any ideas of what it might be. Thanks.
Found my dream kayak…Can these be delivered to UK without a crazy delivery charge ? / is there somewhere to buy these in the UK?
I'm in UK have recently purchased 1 personally I'd look at a longer model with hatches rails for rod holder are useless as your constantly hitting legs on anything you attach pain to fit fishfinder if your planning on just using rear rod holders or recreational use there spot on but useless once you start using the tracks very cramped
Just bought a used Lure10 with gravity seat. Watched this video and understood what happened. The bolt and black plastic piece are missing and the spring has a sharp bend. How do I get new pieces? The right side was OK, the left side is missing.
How’s does it track when paddling
Would this Moken 10 V2 be stable enough for coastal bays / inlets?
Absolutely! Very stable boat.
You know you’re in Wisconsin when 26 degrees is a warm day!
One thing I would like to see is the option to buy a center storage consel in case you decide not to take the PD out since this is a fast and easily manuver kayak with the beaver rudder. For someone who is 5'4 at 175 lb who roof rack the kayak; I find it easy to lift this over my head. .
Ive been thinking the exact same thing. Im wondering if the console cover for the Moken can fit or can be modified to fit.
Excelente kayak, super util esa rueda en popa para el traslado. Que lo disfrutes.
Ocean camo looks great on the boat. But disappears to other boats on the water. Fire camo is 100% vissable on water. Its like buying a chrome airplane, it disappears in the sky. If you want to be seen and be safe, nevee buy a blue boat for the water. Just my opinion cause i have almost hit several blue kayaks since you can not see them until you get really close. Yes if all you are doing is looking for other boats you will still see it. Just saying i feel i get way tl close before i notice them while on Lake Washinton in a 25 foot twin engine boat. Be seen and be safe. Or use a bright orange flag or dont get mad that boast get close to you before they turn to avoid hitting you. Just my advise, take it or leave it.
I hear you. My main kayak is ocean and I sell a lot of winter/desert camo to my customers. I recommend a flag or bright paddle to help with visibility. I fish a lot of skinny water but have an orange PFD and use a flag if I'm on water with motorized boats.
Thanks for the on water demonstration, a quy had one here for sale and I’m glad I looked this up first . Seat looks nice but that drive looks like more of a workout with slow results , I’ll stick to my hobie for now, I just need a wider deck and a drive that has reverse . Leaning toward old town
Thanks for the great tips! I've been wrestling with my seat ever since I bought it years ago. This helps immensely!
this is my dream kayak, but the price is the same as my income for a year so I can't have it😭😭
Pedaling that machine does not look comfortable. Especially when you were in reverse
Where can I buy replacement springs, as I bought my feel free 11.5 v1 used and was missing a couple bolts and seat rod which I just bought but cant find the springs anywhere Thanks
I'd reach out to info@feelfreeus.com. They can help you get parts.
Maybe you can provide some ideas for me. I have a lure 2 and my rear seat has play when I am pedaling. The securement straps are as tight as I can get them but I still have play. When I pedal, the seat will rock back off the deck of the boat approximately an inch and a half. I thought about placing small wooden wedges between the frame and the deck under the straps to minimize the issue but I don't think that is a permanent solution. Any ideas on how I can get the straps any tighter?
Try cris crossing the straps. That seems to help keep the seat planted for me.
@@SmallCraftFisherman Didn't think of that. Thanks, I'll give it a shot.
I tried it but the straps aren't long enough.
Do you have the straps with the single release button on top or the side clip release buttons?
@@SmallCraftFisherman they are just regular straps with an adjustment buckle at one end that bolt to the deck on each end. I loosend the straps as far as they would go but no luck.
Hi Matt, nice video. I just got my lure 2 tandem and have the overdrive installed. The problem I am having is that the C hook that secures the unit keep popping of the latch even if I have it tight. Any suggestion on how to fix this? I am thinking of using a J hook to keep it it place.
I had that issue as well. You may try calling Feelfree because they have a J hook for the Dorado that works nicely on the tandem.
@@SmallCraftFisherman thank you. i called Feel Free and they will be sending me the new designed hook free of charge .
Awesome! Top notch customer service is one of the reasons we use and sell their kayaks!
I have the feelfree lure 1 ( actually the second version) and I have bee loving it since 2016. I fixed the seat , so I had use of cupholders .
Can I install the pedal overdrive at the front of a tandem kayak?
It will fit, but your steering would have to stay at the back seat unless you get creative with the plumbing for the steering cables... And you would have to get creative with how to secure the pedals in the front pod hole....
@@SmallCraftFisherman Thanks for the quick response. Any suggestion on how to secure the pedals in the front? The wall is too far away to make the bracket work. Also is there a longer S bracket as the one that come with the unit is too short?
Honestly not sure, never tried it for those reasons :-)
Now its $769! :(
Nice review. Thank you. I'm picking mine up today.
Just me I think you need the 13.5 that’s a lil low in the water
Yeah I floated the 13.5 for a long time. Great boat!
My feelfree lure peddle drive has gotten louder over the years . It roars now maybe she needs some grease
Yes that will absolutely help.
