I actually feel like I am headed towards a failed Garden this year in North Dakota. We have had a strange Spring, struggling to get out of 45 degrees at night. I normal throw my seed in the ground and it just takes off, very Biblical like in my garden but it seems to be so called at night that the seeds are struggling to germinate. as of this writing I don't have 1 single seed that looks strong like it will survive. Not sure how to salvage what is left.

I farm tomatoes and burying them deep causes more problems than good. This guy knows what he is talking about. I abandoned course on that years ago as I noticed from experience that it was a disease vector. If you rip the bottom leaves off you have wounded the plant. You are then placing the wounded part of the plant below the soil where pathogens can enter the wound. It's common sense to not bury tomatoes deep, but common sense isn't so common anymore.

I have no problem with how your father uses the jointer bare handed, I do the same, If you are not used to running this type of machinery, get you some push feathers or sticks. This man is obviously very experienced, he is keeping real. I have ran jointers, table saws, router tables, etc and I typically do it bare handed, I have all my fingers. Just dont get overconfident if you are not skilled at running machinery like this. It will come with time.

Can I use this for all my beds/all vegetables?

Do we know what variety this was? I had a tomato last year that fused and became 1 massive tomato! Weighed 24.23 Oz!! The ones your dad grew would’ve made a giant pot of tomato sauce!

I LOVE that he went into detail about what he grows beside the tomatoes in the shade of the tomatoes, and that he added a row of cucumbers to shade the tomatoes to prevent sun-scald! It would be helpful if your titles contained wording that said: companion planting in the shade of tomatoes, prevent tomato sun scald with cucumbers. Then we can search your videos, which searches your titles, and find this video that explains how to do these things. Use the descriptive titles to give specific details about what all your videos contain, it might help to bring more viewers.

I can't believe the size of that tomato plant out of that little container, holy cow! I've watched numerous videos, I'm new at this, and I see a number of crossover disciplines with the trellising, but I have to say, that's...wow. LOL, I'm happy that my plants are growing, but that's very impressive. Thanks guys!

Great method to doing a dual main stem method. I did the same last year but just used 1 rope and tied the other main stem to the same rope…not as much airflow but I gave it as much as I could and it worked great. Also on my Cherry tomatoes i did the double leader but I also let more leaders grow but topped them almost making extra little branches on the tomato that grew more fruit.

Hello Luke & Dan ! Great video full of useful information. Have a question regarding crop rotation. It appears the trellis is a permanent fixture for that 5’ wide bed. Do you have any concern regarding crop rotation? I do some rotation but I’m not as dedicated to it as I should be. Cheers !
