Tried it since I had TI back in a days and find the firmware on my backup hdd.. Don't know...sounds like the virus, but it has THAT sound which is so recognisable....

I think many of those drums samples in those machines are very outdated for more actual EBM-Industrial, one important thing that told me Ben Watkins (Juno Reactor) and other professionals is: "Make your own samples". Is the only way nowdays, good drum sounds for those 80s-90s years but if you want really powerful and smashing Snare sounds you have to make them through layering and processing techniques, I do it with my Roland JV-2080 drums For example so those old machines are good as a source of drum layers to work with, those samples by itself alone aren't enough "punchy" to cut thorugh the mix of modern productions(also depends how extreme you want the sound!), same as with the Kick and some other drum sounds. In my case the only that gave me better results in my Industrial tracks is design my own samples!☢

I actually own a Nordlead 1, and a Oberheim Matrix 1000. I haven't used them for years but lately I have been tinkering and the will come into use. As far as samplers go Skinny Puppy used a lot of Emax on Too dark Park. I used to own one of those as well but it got lost in the sands of time.

Vital is the future... though serum is a beast. Run any synth through a distortion plugin and your good.

While these songs paved the way for later industrial, 98% of drums from the 80's sound like ass (not just in industrial). They sound like the demo rhythms on a childs keyboard, smothered in cheap reverb. Capture the rhythm patterns sure, but leave the samples used & mixing styles in the past as the blight on music that they were.

I swear Uncle Al took those samples from Adrian/LeBlanc sessions for Twitch and used them on LORAH, Sexyland and Steers. Interestingly Mind's drums sound quite different. Different studios, new samples and samplers?

For mid to late 80s Industrial one thing I've done is sample Adrian Sherwood or anything with Keith LeBlanc (R.I.P.) on it. Even sampled old Jam and Lewis produced records, anything from Mid-80s with non-linear reverb samples. Basically pretend its the late 80's and all you had is an Atrai and a Emax (Insert Mac or Akai here). For 90's stuff, any Yamaha, Boss, Roland Drum Machine of that era will do with gated/non linear reverb. By the way I didn't know you where in Nitro/Noize. Shoot out to all the other Noitekk bands.

Thw Ministry album Twitch had some great percussion throughout. Great compilation of industrial you've put together. You've definitely got a love for the genre. Most of these tracks to me will always be timeless 👍

A fantastic trip down memory lane. Big into Front242, Laibach, Young Gods, EN back in the day. I'd suggest Borghesia's "Goli Uniformirani, Mrtui" as another stand-out track.

*I planned to do this with drums. I honestly forgot the name of the product by Roland that’s a rhythm machine so to speak where it combines a drum machine with a synthesizer. 🎵💥🏆☠️ It has a line in/out, but I’m not sure if you can make it so it only goes onto the drum track and the baseline.*

Odd that you mentioned Richard kruspe but left out Paul landers, the other half of rammstein’s guitar sound. they wouldn’t have the iconic guitar sound they have without the blend they achieve between Richard’s amp and Paul’s sansamp.

For this kind of drums job I used a lot Roland JV2080 since many years (fully expanded with jv-80 boards) which it has some really interesting drum kits, it also has the amazing and classic snare sample at 1:06 which has been implemented in other pieces of gear aswell from other brands (roland, alesis,..ect), not only in this machine.

I love tone questing to get similar tones to my favorite albums, but even better is when you dial in something really awesome. My go to metal tone has become the Purple Nightmare on the STL Lasse Lammert suite into a couple of ENGL cab IRs from ML Sound Lab. So chunky and snarly.
