Thank you
Jacob, keep professing the negatives. Reason I moved here from Florida was to get away from the roaring crowds. One thing you did leave out, no Casinos or online casino gambling. You won’t be able to find a good poker game anywhere.
I live in Vt. for the past 17 years. Everything the man stated is true. I came from Ct. and it took a while to get used to Vt.
I'll be there March 2024, Super excited.
I live in the state of Vermont and watch it!If you don't like Vermont, don't come here to Vermont at all.
I'm here for the flatlander comments! It is always an interesting read.
Haha, there are always some interesting ones! 😁
Once again a typical MAGA response. I love how you boast about yourself. Big truck; little dic.syndrome . Ihave so many friends in VT going back to the 70s . The people I referred to threatened to kill us. So I think it’s wise to let people whom are thinking about moving to a rural area, probably should give it a lot of thought, unless they are MAGAs. We are only Republicans in name. That’s not good enough.
There are definitely MAGA clowns here in rural areas, someone in a town nearby even drives around with a confederate license plate at the front. ( complete license plate must be on back and front of the vehicle )... How they get away with that, I'm not sure. They are definitely the biggest hicks on the planet though.
Quite honestly it was a fair assesment and people need to be aware of that before moving there. Personally, I and my wife love Vermont. Having been a life long skier I love going there. And the rural character is tops. One very valid criticism is their secondary roads, which are horrible. The State sorely needs to address this and for the most part it wouldnt be that expensive.
Thank you! 🙂 What is your favorite place to ski?
@LivinginVermont it is Mt. Snow, being that I live in CT. Overall, a really cool area though is Jay Peak. Also it's been a while, but Sugarbush, Killington, Stowe, Stratton and Okemo are all great.
Why do you talk like you are half whining all the time? You really should listen to yourself. It's very off-putting. I would never work with a whiny beotch real estate agent. No way I would trust you with my largest investment.
Thanks for the video. Thinking of moving from western NC. I'm used to the flooding and remote rural living, here. But I've had friends and family move away & pass away. I'm sick to death of the conservative juggernaut in the state legislature. Plus, I grew up in the north and I miss having actual seasons. Just need to figure out a job plan. Edit: not currently in the market, btw. Still a few years away.
You're welcome! Let me know if I can help in a few years 😊
beautiful landscape but definitely getting way to Blue
Sound like vermont needs some immigrants to balance things out. Someone should look into this
😂😂
Any state that repeatedly votes for sanders isn't worth living in.
Hi Jacob!!
Hello James!
Just found your channel and it's amazing! I am planning to become a deputy in Vermont and these videos are really helping me!
Thank you sir, I really appreciate it! 😃
Do you know if its legal to drive snow mobiles on the roads in the northfield/Berlin area?
I don't believe you can drive on them no, except to cross. I think that only really is a thing in the North East Kingdom.
@ what about ATV’s?
$1500 instead of $2200 a month with corresponding lower pay... there is no magic bullet, inflation has destroyed us. 25% below national average is still 25% above what most can afford. WE are in crisis.
VERMONT IS GORGEOUS ❤ sure the taxes are high and home prices relatively high and old but of course the well kept houses are a natural gem especially with the great landscapes around you. Yes it's remote and there isn't fastfood or bars on every corner but this area is not that type of place, the ski resorts have plenty of bars though if that's your thing. This area is for nature tree huggers and people aren't really independent thinking and stick to what works for them and has been the way forever. So Yes there are alot of generational families and they will let you know about it too. But that is mostly anywhere. The almost least populated state is that way for a reason. People don't accept change or impacting of the landscapes kindly. So the red tape to get anything started is quite impossible without a helping hand. So in the end don't expect a southern hospitality mentality from locals. Being in isolation most times with a low population can make people very introverted or appear very self absorbed. That being said its a great place live compared to neighboring states ✌🏻🇺🇲
Great place to live ? After the way you described it? For who?
A lot of those things are true for better or worse!
Taxes for healthcare, education and recreation aren't a burden. This is how taxes should work. Will gladly pay more to avoid living in a red state full of ignorant and unhealthy loonies.
That's your opinion
@@Mrmajellan123 very good! You know what an opinion is. Can you say “Oh-Pin-Yun”? ….. Good job! 👏 😂
Bunch of weird people live there, no thanks
We call them flat landers
Are there any good gyms that you know of in or near Newport? I can't seem to find one. Thank you
Hey! The fitness Warehouse VT is new and looks decent. Kingdom Racquet and Fitness Club looks like another option... I haven't been inside either. There are awesome options up in Sherbrooke if you have a passport and don't mind the drive... Or a couple more options down by St. J.
No way would I buy anything in that left-wing state.
and one of the most developed, you can always go to the wealthy Misisipi
It didn’t used to be. NewYorkers , Connecticut and Mass folks taxed and over built themselves out of they’re home states and moved to Vermont. Send ‘‘em back!!
@@GootGamer One of the most developed? Thats a joke right?
@bk6010 why ?
I live in Vermont and can tell you that the state politics may be left leaning, but the majority of people you meet outside of a few larger towns like Burlington are not. The state is very sparsely populated and out of all the places I have lived, the government is by far the least intrusive into every day life. I built a house and in my town, like many if not most, there is no zoning, NO local building codes, no inspections. Hire licensed subs and they will build to Vermont code (which is basically the same as national codes). The only thing the state was concerned with was the septic which had to be signed off by the designer and installer.
I’m 79, lived in 9 countries. I first moved to Stowe in 72, which is not typical VT. A after selling our last home there we moved to East Watch Hill, RI for 7 yrs and moved back to VT. We now live in a rural area near the NH border. After 3 years here we are planning on moving toward the south western part of the state because we are surrounded by ultra conservative MAGA’s . Even after winning the election they’re still angry. We love the state so much we won’t leave, just move. We want to be around better educated and well rounded people. So much rural rage all over America and it’s misdirected towards people whom went to college or just might be better off.
Sounds like you want to live around people like you, critical of others. Thinking youre better than others, and likely wanting to tell others how to live ,eat, etc
Typical MAGA reply
Yup, everyone is jealous of you, that's why they don't like you. It's not your know-it-all "I'm a better educated and more well rounded person than everyone around me" attitude. BTW, I have a masters degree and hang out with artists, craftspeople (potters, furniture makers), trades workers, high school dropouts, business owners and college educated people. All Vermonters and we all get along great despite differences in politics and background. So, maybe it's you?
If I were a bit younger and had a family, I would move there in a heart beat.
Vermont is definitely great for families!
Short version. It's beautiful. It's often cold and dark. Inconvenient with respect to shopping even for basic needs not to mention doctors health care etc. Limited restaurants. But it obviously has its appeal. Quiet. Peaceful. Might be hard to find a good paying job. Tough for young people starting out
Very true! Most my young friends are leaving the state for cheaper housing, better jobs and more spouse options...
I'm still looking at moving to Vermont. But would still like to build a new home. Even though you told me that it's almost next to impossible and would take a long time, and that you can build a brick home. Scott Warren
Hey Scott! Not impossible, just time-consuming and expensive... Doable! New brick homes aren't common here but I'm sure you can bring someone in from out of state if you have the budget. Plenty of old brick houses in Vermont though, even if they don't come for sale often
I like the cow on the splash screen. The isolation of living in the sticks can be a plus if one is an introvert.
We are in Newfane, And yes being here is great as I am an introvert.
Thanks David! I thought it was a fun addition 😁 And true! Although I think everyone needs SOME human interaction to keep them sane
@scotttttlear7398 a lot of Vermonters do have that mentality, keep to yourself and so will we!
Great video. Keep up the good work.
Thank you David for consistently commenting, much appreciated!

Very well put together. I am a, disgruntled, Vermonter with most all of what you described. However, one point you should add is our crazy stupid motor vehicle inspection rules. Some will have no idea as I believe only 13 states have safety inspection laws. The costs of driving even a few years old vehicle can be staggering. I might look you up as I am leaving in March and April looking in West Virginia, Tennessee, South Carolina area… I'm retired and taxes are unbearable. Good luck.
Hey Allan, Thank you for this! I've only ever been used to Vermont's inspection laws so I don't think about it often. Certainly reach out! My email is thevermontrealtor@gmail.com and phone number 802-349-7840. Lots of great reviews I can share with you.

Love the rural VT, farmstead lifestyle
You might not care about staying in Vermont but that's were my laser medical spa will be if you want to look younger your gonna travel ...😊
Don't compare yourself to others that want there own plan
My wife and I currently live in Columbus Ohio. (large city of over 1 million people) We lived, for two years, in northern Vermont in 1989-1990 and absolutely loved it. We moved from VT to NH and lived their for five years. (all work related transfers) we also lived in upstate NY and Conn. As much as we love metropolitan life in a large city like Columbus, there was no more of a beautiful place to live than Vermont. We lived in a small little town called Fairfax and I worked in Burlington 30 minutes to the south. I loved travelling the state in the fall....no other place that we've lived can compare to fall in northern VT. You are so right about neighbor helping neighbor too. Some of the nicest people in thw world live in VT. We loved our time in the green mountain state and will always cherish the memories of our two years there. Thanks so much for making this magical video. It was great......Mike
Hey Mike, you're welcome! Thanks for sharing your story! Vermont really is one of the most magical places to live sometimes. 😊 What's your opinion on VT vs NH?
@@LivinginVermont Vermont kicks New Hampshire's ass !!!! LOL (JK....NH has it's beauty but nothing compared to the magic of Vermont. New Hampshire might be "Live Free or Die" but Vermont is for the ultimate in adventure-beauty !
A big thing in Vermont is the cost of heating. If you live in an area with acces to Vermont Gas it’s huge plus.
Yea, the price of natural gas compared to oil is pretty wild
Cheers from New Hampshire! God Bless:) PS - have a Merry Christmas and a Happy Healthy New Year!!!
Hey, hope you're well. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years to you as well! God bless! 😊
Ayy, appreciate you pointing out that tenants and homeowners alike have additional Rights during the winter. A lot of people don’t know what they don’t know.. and it leads to a lot of folks suffering unnecessarily every winter
It's good to be aware!

Do you ever do Apartment realty? What is the average monthly payment for apartments in Burlington, especially
Hey! Unfortunately I only deal with buying and selling. For Burlington the median rent is ~$2,400. Strong Will Property Management company is one Website you can look at for rentals in the Burlington area. There are other properties as well and I'm sure some other Burlington realtors do help with apartments, just not very many.
Something that has changed since I got licensed, the state exam for Vermont is now taken online and submitted to the OPR. I've also been told it is an open book test. The National exam is still taken in person.
