The Smiler - No Limits Recreation (Work in Progress)

I am still reworking my No Limits recreation of The Smiler to be more faithful to the real ride. This is an update of the work in progress, and some parts of the track and supports still need a little work. But some of the extra detailing including the station interior and queue lines, have now been completed, but need a little finishing off. No Limits does not include the new 4 car trains that...

    PLC should never have allowed a manual override of a block stop. If the PLC ever thinks the block is occupied, then all trains beforehand should be held. Especially if loaded. It shouldn't be possible to manually override it

    It is amazing how much of this incident is still covered up to this day by Merlin, the HSE and the courts. I feel for the victims who never really got proper justice and worry for the safety of the rest of Merlin's little enterprise. It sounds like there is a lot more to this story than what has been published publicly.

    I know this was created from what was known at the time, but I actually think this layout looks better. Obviously negating the fact it wouldn't break the inversion record, the replacement of non stop inversions with more airtime moments, such as on the drops and the final two inversions actually looks like it would better the ride.

    I rode the smiler for the first time today, two train operation. Still to this day, the train struggles to get through the second part of the Staffordshire knot. It felt REALLY slow and being that this element has such a troubled mechanical and emotional history. I really do hope this could be removed, it honestly knocks my confidence when riding the smiler. I fully understand nowadays it's likely to just valley in the middle and then be winched off but if the propulsion isn't there, the element shouldn't be there.

    I still feel the technical engineer was at fault. Even if a fault were to occur, he should know from common sense to inspect the track and not just think it an error on the PLC's part. It was that negligence that caused the accident, and not what any reasonable person with a basic understanding of rollercoasters, in my opinion, would do.

    • @karinaraper8782
      @karinaraper8782 ปีที่แล้ว

      Should have gone round and checked the section. Why didn't the public report the valley train? They saw a train stalled on the lift and they saw the train stuck that didn't make the loop
