Pokemon Evolution: My Theories [minor Legends Arceus spoilers]
Trapinch uncomfortably reminds me of Squirtle and Chewtle, of all mons. With the pattern on the belly, mostly. Flygon being a derived Turtle, maybe? Seems like nonsense even to me, but worth a thought.
10:41 even if it began as an insect it’s now a dragon so it develops a draconic/reptilianesque body plan Pokémon evolutions aren’t unusual in changing species
I have a theory: Geodude, along with other rock pokemon, are some kind of weird mollusc or hermit crab, or even worm They burrow and hide inside rocks, being specialized to function using the rock as an exoskeleton 2nd theory: The supposed insect ancestor was centipede-like, then adapted some legs to specialized limbs. Bugs in the Pokemon world are clearly bigger, so they could've just evolved less legs for energy efficiency
O thats wy Gravler was a crab in too many types
Its eyes look more like goggles to me
U can animate now
Great video,Lurantis is a reverse stick-bug or any of the many insects that camoflage as a plant, so it is a plant that pretents to be an insect wile not beeing one itself. The bug Evolution tree might also bee a good video idear
I knew that, but I didn't want to send *yet another* clarification to my editor. Poor dude. Also, I fear for the arthropod evolutionary family.
@@Pokecology How the heck are we gonna explain Accelgor and Shuckle
@@Pokecologyrespect for respecting your editor. oh waht stilisation does to artropods , one of the many obskure simularetys between monster hunter and pokemon the "spiders" Have 6 limbs
@@Glory2Snowstar
This is one line that deserves more love. I wonder if Flygon’s wings *are* flight-capable, but meant more for stirring up sand storms.
How do they fly though? Pls explain 😭
Second comment is proof of user error
Amazing video! One thing I would have loved to have seen though is the Yungoos line’s effect on the ecosystem. Yungoos are based off of real-life mongoose, which were brought to Hawaii as pest control, but quickly became an invasive species harming the environment around it. Another thing I’d like to note is that Hau’oli City in game actually goes out of its way to promote ecological coexistence, with the Normal type captain Illima leading that charge
I just started the video, but you might be able to consider most rock or steel types “shelled”, to avoid the problem of how to classify sentient rocks. I do wonder under that definition what geodude and onix look like under their “shells”.
Though obviously they’d be very far from Pokémon like torkoal and squirtle, and this would probably only count for Pokémon that are mostly or fully covered in their respective type, because otherwise you may be able to tell the species from body shape or texture. This is a very complicated project you’ve started and I am so interested in it!
You put way too much much effort into your videos for that little amount of subs and views . Your awesome . Keep up the good work 👍
Great work dude. You're grinding hard and it's paying off
Its great that the theory's of the Videos and the Diskussion of them get extended in this way
similar to monster hunter, im pleasantly surprised that the devs and artist for their games (in this case pokemon) seemingly take alot of thought, research, and care into crafting not only the creatures their works are predicated on but also the world and ecosystems they inhabit
I wish I could say it's on the level of Monster Hunter, and I would love if it was *consistently* the case here, but some Pokemon are "phoned in" with their designs.
I have learned something about the marowak dojo: 1. Only escape orbs, orans, and poke spawn down there, so free healing and escape orbs 2. The kecleon shops reset after dojo runs, so if you find yourself with an abundance of poke, or you really want a certain shop item, you can reroll the shops pretty quickly
oops
The reason why Charmander is shown with a full set of teeth while the others in its line largely have bare mouths may simply be for expressiveness' sake and possibly also animator/artist laziness/simplicity, I'm not sure, lol. But like that scene of Charmander getting scared by a Haunter, I don't think that expression would have the same impact if it simply showed Charmander's fangs and not a full set of teeth.
I'm not sure if Skarmory is actually retracting its neck in its sprite animation or if it's simply largely that perspective makes it seem like that's what's happening there, with perspective being very hard to portray properly in single flat sprites.
i’m so sorry but when you said seaward cave i thought you said “c-word cave” and now i want a location called cunt cave
Wait maybe eevees are so rare just based off of 0:32 and the visual of eevee evolving into flareon its because they are evolving more then they are reproducing and so they are hiding in their new habitats areas your wouldnt specifically find a eevee
Absolutely LOVE your work. I hadn't realized I wasn't subscribed yet; fixed that.
This video is beautiful, the edition was great and talks about a really interesting topic that no one talks about. What an amazing piece
But please fix your audio, its a bit difficult to understand what are you saying
This would be fascinating to listen to, but I can barely hear you talking over all of the background noise, even after it’s been turned up. And turning it up on my end just blasts my ears out via the music. Keep up the work, cant wait to see better stuff, because there’s real potential here
Some notes; I think the evolution from Sneasel to Weavile vs Sneaseler makes sense if you assume an increase in population of Sneasel. Remember that Sneasel requires a Razor Claw to evolve and there are no natural ways of finding a Razor Claw. With Sneaseler being more solitary pokemon, and maybe having their own disputes, Razors Claws were more common due to individual Sneaselers battling it out and one party winning, leaving the remains out for others to find. Essentially it created a steady supply of Razor Claws that could be used for evolution. However, if a population boom happened due to human intervention, the avaiability of Raozr Claws would go down because of the protectionism that humans would perform (as you don't want your Sneaseler battling it out often of if so, at least you have other pokemon to defend it when things go rough). With the decrease in Sneaselers and an increase in Sneasels (due to capture, breeding and release programs) it would make sense that at some point, the evolution from solitary hunters to pack hunters would arise from the reduction of Razor Claws making evolving into Weavile a more sound option. Remember that Weavile does get the move "Beat Up", which basically allows for all pokemon in the party to take a swing at the offending pokemon. A great move for Pack Hunting which means that its great for the Head of the Pack; Weavile, being the only one to get a Razor Claw and then evolve with it. This also makes sense since the shift from Fighting/Poison type to Ice/Dark(Evil) type would explain their more pack mentality and their shift in hunting style. Instead of being able to perform singular hit and run tactics, they have moved into being pack hunters that gain a resistance to their prey instead of an advantage.
5:28 I wouldn't say "artist laziness" per se, but I would say stylization. from a character design standpoint, fletchling is purposely designed to be a bit simple, and look like what a child might imagine a "chick" to look like, so the feet having no claws might have just helped that design aspect become more clear
I'm always so impressed by your videos! Especially the visuals and research.
I'd like to mention the arrows are *all* reversed. In ecology, arrows represent the flow of energy and nutrients, so they go from prey to predator, not the other way around.
Hey good video but in the future please turn your voice volume way way up and your background music way down. You sound so quiet it makes the video hard to watch
What I find interesting is that there are entries about Charmeleon that describe their tails as not just dexterous, but strong enough to lift multiple grown men. My idea is that this Pokemon is an active hunter that evolved to use it's body for subduing prey, making it much more physically utilitarian than it's other stages. This is especially true when you notice that it's stats take greater advantage of its Physical moves compared to Charizard's more Special capabilities (minus it's X Mega Form).
How does the small salamance population affect the beginning islands sea life?
I love pokemon like Remoraid that take existing animals like the Archerfish and absolutely run wild with the concept
your editing, image choice, and sound effects are top tier!!! higher volume and bit slower pace would make this perfect. love the concept and idea!! want more!
This is the exact kind of series ive been in the mood for. Just having a bit of a hard time hearing it. Can someome who makes eclogy inspired pokemon shirts (especiaply buttonups) sponsor this?
Have you consider doing a video on pokemon that could be more domesticated than others and how that could impact their habitat? Like cats that kill a ton of pray jut for fun causing huge problems in their habitats?
Heck yeah, I could! That sounds really fun!
I'd love to see/make some sort of project that makes a better listing of where things actually live when they don't have to worry about gameplay balance, fanbase pandering, and the fact that modern gen mons don't appear in past regions. Like, I imagine that Talonflame, as the analogue for the Peregrine Falcon, would be found in ALOT more places than it is, and there are probably alot of encounters from Poke Radar or HGSS radio that wouldn't be there if not for gameplay neccesity Also, It would be very interesting to come up with an ecology when you have stuff like large Geovores (or whatever you'd call a mineral-eater), Mineral-based lifeforms, and whatever you'd class a Ghost as. Probably would ignore some of the Dex Entries that are nonsensically extreme like Magcargo or Machamp
where'd you get the gen 5 style alola sprites from? i wanna see them all
This is the pokemon world. They tend to be eco-minded and on top of these matters. So the waters around the dock is likely quite clean. If it wasn't then the tree in the center probably wouldn't be doing as well as it seems.
hun can u speak up or dont come out as shy as this video?
