CASE 580K Stuck in Gear
มุมมอง 6K2 ปีที่แล้ว
A short video tidbit that might help if your CASE 580K or similar backhoe gets stuck in gear. It got stuck because the shifter tried to simultaneously move both of the shifting forks, jamming them together. This is easily resolved by taking the cover and forks of the transmission, if the dang cover doenst get stuck on the transmission! Indeed with this design, when the gears get stuck, the shif...

    • @NineCarGarage
      @NineCarGarage ปีที่แล้ว

      After I got the top off, it was just a matter of aligning the forks so only one was engaged. And being more careful when changing gears to prevent catching two forks. You should be able to move the forks around and slide into and out of a gear... I don't envy you if you are thinking about taking apart the transmission. Maybe just stick with first !!

  • @robertwhitright9816
    @robertwhitright9816 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can change the top end without taking the engine out. To torque use really long extensions. 15 to 21 ft lbs. Also put the piston in the cylinder first, leaving the skirt to stick out of the bottom so you have enough room to slide the wrist pin through and place clips. Then slide the cylinder down all the way. No special tools needed.

    I was thinking about something similar for my shop-to-be - scissor truss on one side to allow clearance for a lift, without going to 12' walls, then attic/storage truss on the other half. I'm curious how you insulated the scissors out where they meet the wall tho? Seems like there wouldn't be any room for insulation. I was thinking spray-foam would be the only (expensive) option...

    • @NineCarGarage
      @NineCarGarage ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the note. Insulating was a little strange. On other outer side I cut in 2x4s 16 on center to make a non-structural wall to hold up the insulation. On the inner side of the scissor truss I cut up and put in 2 layers of giant triangles of 2" foam board and screwed them onto the truss itself for ~R20.
