We are Matt & Sara. We are from Minnesota. We run our laser engraving business from home. We sell primarily online. We have four children. We are looking for new ways to be more present with our family. We enjoy being together; gardening, taking care of animals and the homesteading lifestyle. We will be sharing videos every week of our day to day life and living our dreams!
I went from 3 hives to 23 in 2 months! Growing my Apiary.

Moving Pastured Pigs the EASY way! Look what they ate in 4 Days!
This video was helpful, thank you.
Wow! 👏🏻👍🏼
I was just thinking about heading down and getting some panels and was putting together the tools to cut them down to 8'...then I thought about folding or rolling them..found your video and the demonstration convinced me this was the way to go. I need more than 4...so I think I'll make multiple trips. I'm 62 and not as strong as you are..so I think 4 is going to be my limit per trip. Thanks!!
Whats with the plastic? That looks so annoying to take out.

@mattsara2802 would you recommend this shed? I live in an area that sometimes has strong winds, and I'm afraid of this shed not being durable.
@VshinkuV it’s been good for me. Just make sure to anchor it down
@mattsara2802 Thank you for actually taking the time to reply. Just one last question. Where did you get your shed at?
@VshinkuV online
Wow 😮❤
Funny!
This man is doing God's work!
Well well good for you. I did 30 cells for a guy earlier this year, he seen some of my videos of the gentile bees I have. Now I finally did some for myself off the Randy Oliver queen I got . If I get 20 or so queens from her I'll be happy. going into the mating boxes tomorrow the 27th
The more I've seen results from others doing potato towers, the more i think it's a no-go. But I have to ask, did you fertilize them at all?
I used our compost. We tried it 2 times and it hasn’t worked out for us.
very fine video, I hope that in the future when you are ratcheting it up that where you were standing, all it would need to do is come unhooked somehow and with the high spring tension it would have ripped up your face badly! Be very careful while attaching this once it gets under tension is when you could get hurt!!
🤣 thanks but there’s not that much tension
Awesome
Man you are on fire. Fascinating. Matt every single new deep super we built has cut divider options. So 3 3 chambers or 2 5 frame in a 10 frame. I should shoot a video for you. By the way I have a 30 dose pack of Formic Pro in the box left over from last Fall. To bad we don't live closer. I've switched over to ApiGuard.
Question about temps. We live near you and are mid-build on a greenhouse. Have you kept track of winter temps at all?
Yes it s about 15 to 20 degrees warmer than outside.
I have the Fiskars, had one for years, they’re a great axe
Yes I love it
OK, so number nine has no holes did you drill your own holes?
I think that’s what the self tapper is for
brillant
Can you elaborate on how you used your egg incubator to incubate your queens?
Yup. I set it at 93 and put water in the bottom.
First time seeing one of your videos. Your passion and excitement are contagious. I’m sitting at 5 hives and have been thinking of July splits to 10 (with lots of feeding), but have been nervous to try grafting. Even have a Chinese grafting tool. Was going to try cell punch method, but may go the route you chose after hearing about your success.
Grafting is so so so much better then walk away splits. Try it bet you will like it.
This year I went from 2 hives to 13 hives in 6 weeks then a tornado cut me back to 3 hives, now I'm back up to 8. If not for the tornado I'd have 21. All from swarm traps and shaking swarms.
Dang.
Do you treat for mites? If so when and what do you use?
I do that in August I start I use formic Pro and oxalic acid
Hahahaha I gotta get one. 😂
You will have plenty of laughs
Well done, the best feeling when your ladies are born. Your queens are stunning.
Thanks
Thank you sir!
Wow great job Matt! Bees? Addicting? Who knew?!
Thanks. 😂right 😆
I like your passion in Beekeeping keep it up and thanks for sharing
Thanks
great work man
Thanks
I am glad everything is going so well for you.
Thanks
@@mattsara2802 I would keep splitting the hives every year, you have good genes for your area.
brilliant
Dude....ok you got me. I'm freaking interested.
😃
Brilliant job.
Thanks
Great Job Mat, well done. Be carefull not to spread too thin and risk chillbrood. Good luck.
Thanks and absolutely
I'm doin't their 10x12 right now. Those Chineese and their tiny hands:) I don't have any kids so I had to use the wife, sigh.
🥳🎉🥳🎉I am so excited for you Matt.👏👏👏
Thanks 😊
🤨You have been a lot busier then me, dang dude😲impressive😃tell me more. Awesome Matt, I am very happy that your season is going so well. I wish I had a longer season. Update of the garden, how's Sara, the kids? Pigs doing well in the trees? Blessed Days Matt Family... I may try to make a few after the Solstice as soon as I finish my longhive timing box. I did that with a few of my beeps, that is what I call my Side-by-Side.
Thanks 😊. We are all doing great 👍. We will be doing a video soon. The fruit trees are crazy. I have sold lots of queens and gave a bunch of them away also.
So how much honey are you planning on harvesting next year?
That all depends on how many hives go into winter and how many come out but a lot 😃
Well done good for you
Thanks 😃
I'm struggling it's a nightmare 😅
Sorry to hear that
Brilliant😂🎉
The box of my truck is wrapped with 3/4 inch plywood. I just stapled them to the walls and the box floor then wretched strap in.
That is bad ass!!!!!!! But I live in a townhouse...... stupid chickens 🐔 keep coming to MY PLACE!!!!!!
Perfect! Last week I was trying to figure out how to load and transport these. Did a very similar thing after playing with them for awhile
😃
Central MN here, days away from closing on our new place. I'm eager to get started getting some gardens in but still trying to figure out all that I can start this late. Great video, new sub
How long did it actually take to assemble??? Thanks
6 ish hours
I have a very inefficient late 1800s era large home that has been costing me a liver to heat (gas and heat pumps) since I bought it. Am looking into a wood or coal stove. The Drolet site says the HT3000 pumps out over 300K BTU, which would awesome. But it also says its only meant to heat a 2400sf home??? Tat makes no sense. 300K BTU should heat a much larger home. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Any feedback would be appreciated, as I am new to this. Thanks!
It all depends on where you live. It will cook us out of the house and we have a 2100sq old house and live in central MN
@@mattsara2802 OK. Then it might work for us. We are in the Baltimore, MD area, which I imagine is not as cold as it is on your neck of the woods. Based on how cold things have been these past few winters, I don't think we'd mind being cooked out of the house for less money that with gas! Thanks for the feedback.
Thanks!
Your video was not helpful at all, you do not show how the bar on top is mounted for the side panels!
Love the smiling dogs! I know this is an old video, but understand the loss when one of them passes. They shine so bright when they're with us and it hurts when they leave, but they definitely enrich our lives while they're here. I'm new to the channel and loving the content. Thanks for sharing your sweet boy!
Thanks. 😊 I is a amazing dog
I know this is an older video, but if you have a large "skimmer spoon" (typically used for frying stuff) it works so good! It's really big and really easy to use.
Oh see I don't notice the shorts. Blessed Days you all...
Super helpful, thank you. That's a real truck! If I ask my friend to do this he'd say “NO, it will scratch my truck”…LOL!!!!
🤣😂
