In this video, I document the process used to troubleshoot and repair an issue with a wiring harness in my 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. This harness passes beside the engine oil filter, and over time friction and heat had caused the wiring insulation to break down, creating a short in the crankshaft position sensor circuit, which would sporadically cause the engine to die. Good video buddy! My problem happen to be the thermal fuse. Been awhile since I had did any dryer troubleshooting and I had a idea it was the thermal fuse because of factors leading up to the issue. Someone prior to the current resident had decided to block off the opening which allows the exhaust air to exit outside with (of all things) expansion spray foam . Lol Completely sealed it off. Current resident didn't inspect it from the outside and hooked up their dryer hose and subsequently over heated the dryer as the hot air couldn't exit. So , good news is, the fuse did it's job and prevented further damage to the dryer and possible a 🔥. Thanks for the brush up review.

      @@4.7.9_sneakz Have you re-checked for a persistent plenum leak as demonstrated in this video? That's probably where I would start, just to be sure the repair worked. It's also possible the new manifold gasket may not have sealed well, or perhaps there is a vacuum hose disconnected somewhere. It's easy to forget one...I've done that myself. With the engine cool, you can start it up and spray some carb cleaner around the intake and vacuum hoses...if there is actually an intake leak somewhere, it should suck in some of that vapor and you should hear the engine idle change as the spray enters the combustion chambers.

      @@mattpayne4087 yes i’ve checked no leaking, everything is plugged in right there were a couple sets of eyes so i know we got everything right, my grandpa thinks the same thing maybe the torque specs are wrong and i feel like my truck just adapted to running bad so when it got fixed it didn’t know how to act but it’s busting my balls because i put so much money in it that i know it should run better not worse.

    Before ordering parts, make sure to reconnect the control board to the main board with the harness unplugged in this video. In my case, doing this made the control board start talking to the main board again. I may pack the connector with dielectric grease to improve the connection. It's possible a little moisture is causing a short and making the communication fail.

    • @historyofhiltonheadisland
      @historyofhiltonheadisland หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, this does NOT resolve any issue that is causing a code to be displayed. This only tells you what the code is so that you can narrow the focus your troubleshooting. Simply knowing the code will not allow you to pass an emissions test, and neither will manually clearing an emissions-related code. Clearing a code without resolving the issue will only cause the code to disappear temporarily - the issue that caused the code to display will still exist, and the code will reappear after several drive cycles. If you are subject to emissions testing, you will need to actually repair any defective engine parts/system before you will be able to pass an emissions test that samples exhaust gases.

    Great instruction video. Thanks so much for the effort that went into this. The only trouble we had was getting the long bolt to thread. Finally removed the lower bolt and cradled the alternator in a hand. Then with it almost vertical about 45 degrees off from the lower bolt, moved the alternator up/down/right/left pushing slightly on the long bolt to get a feel for where it was coming against the threaded opening until it felt like it seated and then a couple of hand turns and we got it. Great job Matt!
