Did you replace the whole wire? And if so did it lead back to the fuse box?

@@xIRAIx The wire should be replaced. The corrosion works it's way back into the wire past where you can see. How far back is difficult to determine. If repaired could not be sure how long it would last or if all the problems would be fixed. To remove corrosion can use water with baking soda mix and put wire in solution. Old mechanics trick.

Thank you so much for this. This is exactly my problem. I actually had 3 alternators put in. Watched this video and saw a corroded wire. These assholes at the shop were too damn lazy to fix this obvious problem. Ill be attempting to replace this wire myself. Thank you for sharing your experience. You probably saved me several hundreds of dollars and more wasted time.

Thanks! Same vintage same issue on my ride recently. The wire that runs from the back of the alternator is the thinner one that comes out of the same wire loom to the forward part of the fuse box.

Another way to troubleshoot is to use a multimeter. an electrical system with a good alternator should read about 14v while the engine is running. If the alternator is not producing enough power then you'll read just the 12v battery. That's how I figured out my alternator was going on my 98 rodeo.

Almost all these Isuzus used as daily drivers need their alternators replaced between years 18 and 20. Next comes the starter motor. You can't ask for more life than that from electrical parts in daily use.
