The areometric ones are a hassle to clean too 😅. I just stick to parker quink blue black in mine as it works so well with it and they were developed together (the quink inks and the 51 that is)

So you stated you did "weeks" of research and didn't find out what the vacuumatic vs. aerometric filling was? I'm a little confused how somebody could spend that many hours researching and not learn anything about the filling system...

You can always spot a fountain pen enthusiast by their inky fingers. lol

Good choice. I have 3 of them, all aerometric. Next try vintage Parker 45. Also excellent and more modern.

There is so much subjectivity in writing and varity of nibs leaves many in a quandry. Have three Viscontis and have been pleased with their nibs, but then again a fountin pen is a medium of transmission of thought of mine to a paper. I value implenation of the pen's design.

I started out buying vintage pens, then learned how to restore them. Then I bought my first modern fountain pen. I just ordered my first 51 today.

You are correct on the date code. I have a similar model Vacumatic 51 but with the double jewel. Mine is also a medium nib and is the smoothest writing pen I own.

Wonderful. Just landed on Parker 51 world myself, and can’t believe it’s taken me 55 years to touch down, here! All those years I could have been putting even more giggle into every squiggle. I have also won / ordered 3 other Parker 51s and an Parker 61, so that I can have a King Prawn day between that choice juicy steak. How can I go back to from whence I came? When satisfactions are rife and conspiring all around me? It’s all good under the hood. Parker 51… Even Queen Elizabeth, God rest her soul and hairstyle, used an Parker 51. And she could’ve had any brand of Fountain Pen from any continent or any age made from golden lavatories, and yet those royal fingers held a “claret“ plastic… That humblety in itself should suffice for any Englishman to feel Aeromatically fulfilled in any likewise and also pursuits. And very much indeed he does, most assuredly. One thing the late Leonard Nimoy and I shared is an penchant for, Green Ink. So with my new found go-to pen, I have also been enjoying the flamboyance and being on the Silly Spectrum of colour, while engaged in the cut and Parry of squiggle committal to paper. Mont Blanc allows you to have a nib swap within so many days of purchase in case you didn’t like the line width you bought. But they hold the pen at the boutique till the new nib arrives. Free service

I find it really odd that you spent the money to acquire a vintage fountain pen without having learned how to write with one. Holding a fountain pen vertically as you do in this video is not the proper way to use the instrument. If you believe the pen writes satisfactorily as you are depicted using it, imagine how it would write if you learned the proper way to use it.

Ahh you bullet journal! Incredible. I had a stroke 3 years ago and my fine motor skills still suffer resulting in bad handwriting, so I stopped bullet journaling

people get pens sent for free haha. It sounds like there were some beef or assumptions made.

The best way to clean out pens is to fill with water and empty and do that till its mostly clear, about 5 times. Fill and empty again and shake the rest out. Even if some color comes out a bit its fine just fill the pen with new ink and after a few lines the color will be the new color ink. Anyways thats how the instructions state it.

51s are great durable pens. They are made of lucite. I like the 61 in style better but they are made of plastic. For vintage pens though i like eversharps they have an ellegance to the designs and the nibs write with a certain flair.

The undyed five-pen School House pen case was the second item I ever received from Galen. Then the Kaweco two-pen case in Crazy Horse Brown. I’ve since added the undyed tote, wallet, weeks mega cover, Zip and Slip pen case, and A6 cover. The Old School pen case is the lightest color in my collection as well. Also, I have that same spot in the center of the back of my case. Burnished is a form of smoothing. It’s usually done by rubbing a metal item on the edges until smooth to remove fraying. I also love their coffee. I drank another cup earlier this afternoon as a treat.

I feel lucky. My 2nd pen is my perfect pen (Platinum Preppy). I tried 4 more (1 was a gift and only use to draw, 1 I modified the feed and now use it often, 2 I gave away) after that but Preppy is my perfect pen so now I got a few more Preppys just because I like to have different color inks ready to use. I'm content now, but I might buy more Preppys if I get more inks that I fall in love with. Now I have 6.

I don’t see a heck of a lot of line variation here, not much different than their regular fine nib.

Btw, from what I can see, you have the version with the blue diamond on the top of the pen clip. Apparently those are rarer and the earliest models, whereby Parker placed the blue diamond to signify "Parker's lifetime warranty" but started to remove them after 1947, due to new laws being passed on regulating lifetime warrantees.

I love the ink studio inks, don’t have any darks, but have some of the mid tones, and they shade beautifully. I especially love 280

Can you comment on what it is about Sailor Ink Studio inks that you especially like?

Wait a minute .. the SF Pen Show? Did you end up going? I wanted to but then I blew my budget right before. LOL. So I didn't even go but I'm planning to go this year because I want to test and see so many pens.

I didn’t realise you can simply screw Visconti’s nibs out and swap it with another! For some reason I bought this one with a B nib which I fear will be too thick for me now. Can this nib swapping work with any Visconti nibs from any of their distributors and retailers? Thank you!

Hi Jenn! I only just saw this vid but felt like commenting. I felt something very similar to what your describing. When I got my Wancher Dream Pen True Urushi, I felt for the first time a sense of completeness with regards my collection. It was quite emotional, and I felt I could stop and be happy. I'm still collecting, but I'm very much in my 'endgame', to borrow your term. There's just a few pens in my 'grail' list now. And actually, that M600 tortoise shell is one of them 😇 Thanks for the video. I'm happy you got your tortoiseshell ❤️

We live in California and we order pizza and always have a salad. I only like boneless chicken wings (Wing Stop) and we only get those maybe 3 - 4 times a year.

I have been looking for a Vintage Parker and would be interesting in buying if you havent sold it already. not sure how to reach you. What you have left are great pens though. i too have been thinking about returning to my TN's. I miss them and they are so lonely on my shelf.
