I'm 23 years and from Finland and I have always been interested of wood- and metalworking. Nearly a decade ago I found some videos from TH-cam and they inspired me to buy some tools. Long time since the last video! Been busy making knives and improving the shop. In this video I make a billet of damascus or pattern welded steel for a custom order with my flypress. I intended to film making a knife from the damascus but broke my camera right after finishing the billet and my phone camera is useless indoors so couldn't use it either. More videos coming once I've got a new camera!

how does damascus compare to 80CrV2
@@kanhdahar2 They perform quite silmilarly. I make my damascus from 80CrV2 and 15n20 so hardness, toughness and wear resistance are all very close.

I don't know but comparing to other presses on the internet I'd guess around 5 ton perhaps

Хочу лише трішечки доповнити ( сам кую ножі ,тому ,гадаю можу дати пораду ) фінські ножі ,роблять 3 х слойними ,тобто ,тверда сталь зварюється ,горновим зварюванням ,між двома пластинами заліза ,або ,м'якої сталі ( на кшталт кутника, арматури ,тощо..) і буде чудовий ,практичний фінській ніж ,в тебе він теж гарний ,але ,спробуй зробити ,як я сказав ,удачи ,все ок 👍🔥

Your knives are great, received 3 of them via Lamnia, one of them a Damascus Puukko just WOW, there is a lot of passion and heart in it.
I made a Leuku blade using stacked birch bark.Came out nice.But I didn't make the blade I bought it(Lauri type Leuku).

Great job. In the original leuku, the angle of the blade is steeper, which prevents the blade from chipping, for example, when chopping bones and frozen wood. In newer industrially produced leukus, the blade is similar to this.
